I go over my year with watches and what I see in the Rolex market. Vintage vs new etc and what other brands interest me.

At 10 minutes, the 5 digit for sale ratio decrease, is probably explained by an increase in 6 digit listings.

Sold some of my ceramic Rolex’s and now back into Seiko prospex divers. Started with Seiko then moved up to Rolex now selling all them now back to seiko . The watch timeloop

Yeah it’s a strange old journey . 12 years I was obsessed amassed a decent collection, a lot of buying and selling . Went a full year of no purchases and really couldn’t give a toss about watches now . Still wear a watch but 8 decent watches are locked away 6 Rolex sports and a couple of omegas not been near the vault for around 7 months and have not missed them in the slightest , they will be sold at some point when I can be arsed ..it’s funny when i cleared my head of the weird obsessional mush I just couldn’t believe how little value watches gave me .. Took up skydiving and that’s a proper buzz . Now get that new purchase adrenaline rush from a new pair of boots or tee shirt costing a few hundred and not north of 10 k a shot l.. it’s an expensive hobby for what it gives you . Think a lot of people just get caught in the throws of addiction and don’t really contemplate that they are going round in circles spending a shed load of money and achieving nothing and strangely this becomes a way of life . There’s a whole lot more out there to be enjoyed at a fraction of the price ..

Happy New Year Michael, wishing you health, happiness and success on anything you do, and enjoy your time off. From the list of candidate watches that you mentioned for your next one, I must say that I met up with a friend of mine and fellow collector a few weeks back and he was wearing his PAM233. He wears it daily, it had hairlines, small scuffs, nicks, you name it. Lovely patina on a really thick alligator strap with a pre-V buckle, that thing is something. Great presence on the wrist, an absolute looker and one that you don't see every day. If I had to have just one Panerai, it would be that one. Once again, Happy New Year and looking forward to more content from you in 2024!

Spot on commentary. Bought my first 5 digit Submariner this year and absolutely love it. My modern Rolex watches aren’t getting any wrist time now… Even though I love my ceramic Root beer, the 5 digit sub is just perfect. You should definitely pull the trigger on an off-road rig in 2024! All the best.

Haha, I think a lot of people with large collections have been where you are. A lot of stuff that isn't being used and liquidation follows. I was there with guitars and amps before (30+ amps at home once, hundreds that flowed through in 15 years) and my short jaunt with watches. Got rid of most of both this year and haven't missed them. Some of it is the thrill of the hunt over the enjoyment over ownership, but also finding out what you really like and/or use. I prefer the looks of the 5 digits over the 6, no 6 really caught my eye. But, the bracelets on the 5 digits are too old as far as technology (essentially unchanged for 50 years). I've been more into discovering unique micro brand/independent designs recently.

Ah, the watch game. I totally get your points - Me personally, i am down to two at the moment. 114060 and 16610lv. Don't really know where to go from here. Don't NEED anything else. Don't NEED anything in the first place, i guess! Perhaps also sell the 6-digit Sub? ..i am sneaking around a Datejust 41 again, but as you said.. it's probably all just a dopamine fix. I purchased the girard-perregaux laureato after seeing it on one of your videos, I know you moved yours on but I love it. I was looking for a watch that was understated, but special and of high quality. This watch ticks the box so much so that I'm now bored of 99% of the other watch types. Maybe you have the watch you need and the journey is now over, which, is a great place to be in my opinion

Great video as always. As an Alsatian myself, I like that you use that term for German Shepherd: 14:07. It's old school, but I like it! (Alsatian dogs were called that after WWII when it was no longer cool to own anything German... until the 70s, when the German Shepherd name came back.)

Enjoyed that far more than I expected for “man walking and talking to a camera”. I feel what you feel… I’ve got 3 x omegas in rotation (heritage 300 navy (gen 2) and heritage 300 black (gen 1) and a silver aqua terra) and then a couple of more modest dailies on nato straps (Glycine and Hamilton) and I’ve sold the rest. Would love a Rolex, but I’m so torn between which is the right “one and only” Rolex for life… I’d probably wear a sub (no date) the most as it’s such a classic but it is a little cliched and boring (sorry!), and yet I desire the Starbucks or Batgirl the most - but worry they’re just too flash and too dangerous for my daily wear…. and I also love the white DateJust on a jubilee but worry it’s a bit boring and too dressy for everyday given I’m still quite young. I don’t want/can’t afford to start a collection, so it’s not a case of buying multiple. Really torn!
