It's hard to believe 2023 is already over...seems like just yesterday this channel was brand new and we were getting ready for 2013. Thanks for all the views, likes, comments, and emails over the course of this year - always great catching up with you guys!
This year saw a slight shift (or upgrade?) to the focus of my tractor fleet - I want to start collecting more of the obscure vegetable/specialty tractors from my home state of New Jersey, while continuing to track down the tractors my family farmed with years ago - namely my grandfather's JD 50 transplanter tractor, Farmall Super AV, or my great-grandfather's Super AV or JD BNH that were all sold years ago. There are a few other specialty models I want to add to the collection over time as well, such as a JD 730 vegetable, M high-clearance (several custom made in South Jersey), 40V or 420V. Each of these models tell an interesting story about farming in South Jersey many years ago, and I think would make for some great variety in my collection. Therefore I have decided to start selling some of my extra parts and literature inventory to free up space (and funds) for future projects. The following items are for sale in Lancaster County, PA - cash talks!
1. Ford 340A loader tractor - $5500 or trade for a JD 755 loader/mower
2. Case K40 38" mower deck for 210/220 series garden tractors - $50
3. JD 16" single front wheel and tire for Waterloo-built two-cylinder and New Generation row-crop tractors - should fit late A through 4020 - $125
4. 2022 PJ 102" x 18' buggy hauler trailer (10,000-lb GVWR) - $7000 OBO
5. Three pairs of 38" tractor tires on double-bevel rims (mostly 12.4x38) - will need tubes and some may need rims repaired around valve stems - $300/pair
4. Farmall Super AV cultivating tractor - if anyone owns Super AV serial number 287595 or 343729 (and is complete), I would like to trade this tractor for either one. Would be great to have another family tractor back!
5. Misc. cultivator parts for IH/Farmall tractors - $100 for the lot
6. MBRP Armor-Pro series T304 stainless 4" muffler for diesel trucks - less than 10,000 miles of use - $125
7. Various JD 316 parts (also fit 318, 322, 330, 332 etc) - please PM or email me with your needs.
8. Various Onan engine parts (B and P series) - please PM or email me with your needs.
9. Pair of low-usage Goodyear straight-bar 12.4x38 tires - may be interested in trading (plus cash) for a pair of 13.6x38's in similar condition for the JD 60 restoration.
10. Strongway mini portable tire changer for lawn/garden/ATV or small truck/car tires - $50
11. Vintage Simplicity service binder with Briggs & Stratton engine service bulletins from 1986-present - $40 plus shipping

I'm working on fixing up a John deere 318 that has been sitting for 20 years. A video will be out on my channel soon, but I might need some parts for it. I'm not gonna know for a few more days because I just figured out why it wasn't pumping fuel from its tank. The video should be all on my channel somewhere around January 10th. If you buy any chance, have the rear two thousand rpm pto i might buy it off you.

I wish I could help you with the rear PTO, but I've never had one on any of my tractors. I bought and installed one on my uncle's 318 back in 2017 but that's the closest I've ever come to owning a kit. I'll keep an eye out for you though.

Im not far behind you on the disassembly. Maybe Monday ill get the transmission disassemble and start splitting it from the rear end.

I should make an update video soon - you may need to build a jig to split the main case from the rear axle housing, as the dowel pins won't let them separate without a fight. I built two plates out of 1/4" steel, one that uses the shifter quadrant holes and the other one that uses the top 3 rows of holes on the back of the rear axle housing, then split them apart with a bottle jack and a few blocks of wood.

I guess metal that has been bolted together since the 50s would be a little tough to get apart. I still need to get my hubs off the axles. I'm afraid the pinion gear is rusted pretty bad inside

You seem like someone who would know, lol. if I were planning a restoration on a 318 where do I source parts these days? I always wanted one and finally found a good one.

The nice thing about 318's is that parts are still pretty easy to get for them - Deere has kept parts in stock for many years due to the 318's being so popular, but within the last year or two they have slowly been discontinuing the more obscure (slower-moving) parts for them. Not really an issue though, as most good dealers still have plenty of stock left on their shelves and there are plenty of used parts sellers (myself included) who specialize in these 300/400 series tractors. Most of the critical Onan engine parts are still available through OnanParts.com, Boomer's Onan Parts, or most Cummins dealers.

Wouldn't mind having me a 40V or 420V someday. That being said, kinda had my mind on a 430C too....

I was never a fan of the Dubuque tractors to be honest, but I recently learned that my grandfather demoed the very first 420V when it was brand new in 1956, and it was found 11 years ago on a farm 8 miles away from where I grew up. So now naturally I have to have one myself. New Jersey farmers were responsible for the initial design and field testing of the V series of tractors, and apparently the dealers local to my hometown sold about 2/3 of all the V's that were sent to the Baltimore branch house.

@@MichaelTJD60 I figure y'alls area up there would be the best when it comes to finding any of the 40V/420V/430V tractors. And there are probably quite a few in California, along with the High Crops. I'm 50/50 on Dubuques. I kind of love them, I kind of don't. Never been around one, only ever messed with Waterloo-built two cylinders. I need to find me an L or LA someday, I think they were the only two cylinder built in Moline if I remember correctly.

@@NEAFarmKid4010 I know of an L and LA for sale in rough shape near the Jersey Shore if you're looking for a few projects. And yes, to my knowledge at least the L was built in Moline.

I would get some. However due my running boards on my pickup damages from clipping a guard rail at a slow speed which Im okay in physical, mentally I got so mad, resulting the right rear tire blow out results in replacing all four tires and new pare of rrunning boards. That add me up $2500 in replacements. Currently, the pickup is getting the running boards on slow progress due the daylight. Now the small engine on the 18.5HP B&S Intek from my Cub cadet LT1018. I got the pulley off with a small propane torch and a pulley removal. Pulley is so bent can't re use it. Now I'm preparding to remove the engine crankcase. Hopefully it's the governor gear replacement and going to replace the crank gasket and that one gasket ring that goes throught the crankshaft.

Wow John, sounds like you've had a lot going on lately. Glad to hear you were OK and that your truck will be fixed. Those crankshaft pulleys on the vertical Briggs engines never seem to come off without a fight, I've been there before on an LT1024.
