UPDATE: LOCKED in COLA increase for 2023 is 8.7%
www.theveteran.coach
The 2023 COLA or Cost of Living Adjustment for VA disability benefits is projected to be 8.9%! This doesn't quite keep up with the rate of inflation, so if you have questions about how you can increase your compensation, let me know with a comment or question below!

Social Security is on track to be insolvent in 13 years. They (Congress) aren't looking to increase benefits. On the contrary. They are projecting reduced benefits and an increase of the retirement age which is likely to pass. Social Security worked O.K. when the majority of people didn't live beyond 72. Now, retirees are living healthy lives well into their 80's and 90's. Social Security isn't practical anymore and should be gradually phased out of existence. Current retirees drawing SSA should be grandfathered in. I've worked hard and paid into SSA for many decades. I'm 53 now, retired and live off of two income sources. As soon as I turn 62 I am applying for early benefits. I may, just may get a few years of pay back from what I have been put into it.

Hello... thank you for all of your amazing advice. You are more appreciated that words can express. I do have a question that I hope you can answer. You speak about a nexus letter, but how to I get one? Should I ask the C&P professional for it outright, or should I ask my VA doctor? And at what point should I ask? After all exams have been submitted for review or during the exams? Thank you
@TheVeteranCoach
@TheVeteranCoach Жыл бұрын
Hey there! A nexus will need to be provided by an outside provider other than your C&P Examiner, and submitted with your other evidence and substantiating documents when you submit your claim or appeal. Sometimes your private treating doctor may be familiar with what a nexus is and how to write one for you, but often times they will charge additionally for these. There are networks of providers specifically trained and specializing in these reports and opinions. If you are interested and would like to know more about nexus letters/if you need one/ who to go to, feel free to comment back or email at laura@theveteran.coach

why are they predicting the cola, when, everybody know, cola is based on the third quarter which don't end until sept 30, and usually the consumer price index, usually goes down in the third quarter to make sure that the poor don't get much of a pay increase, it may be above 10%, but at the end of the 3rd qt, ea yr, it's cut in half, purposely, sometimes cut two third to three fourths

100% just keeps getting fatter and it's glorious, and well earned and needed. I got my reward upgrade last year from burn pits in Iraq and I hope everyone else can get to work on theirs. Thankfully, I didn't have to fight for mine. I got mine on the first shot, which I am forever grateful for. The second doctor's opinion was crucial and if the VA never scheduled me for a second opinion doctor appointment I would have been denied for burn pits.

Hello, thank you for this content, it’s very helpful.. So, I am 90% (p/t) and have been receiving pay at the 100% rate via TDU for 2 years.. I understand that if I choose to work, I must stay beneath the income poverty threshold. I am thinking about taking a job as a ski lift operator for the ski season (Jan-April) The employer is allowing several accommodations for my service connected disabilities. If I work 24 hours per week at a pay rate of $20.00 per hour, my gross income will be a little over $8K and below the income threshold… Will the VA consider this “substantially gainful” since I would technically be working at a rate above the poverty line for four months? Or, will the VA just go off the income I earn during the season? If they simply just go off the income I will be below the poverty threshold. Edit: what if for example a veteran makes 12K in say three months and then stops working and doesn’t earn any more income for the year?
@TheVeteranCoach
@TheVeteranCoach Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question! The way that the VA evaluates income is based off your tax returns and what is reported as earned annually, so if you are below the income threshold for the year, it should not matter how the payments were distributed. I hope this helps!

Good afternoon thank you for your video and channel. I have a question as I am very frustrated and I think I’m definitely doing things wrong. I am 11 1/2 year vet Army Desert Storm. I registered for the burn pit. I’m currently rated 40%. I got denied for diabetes, GI issues. Although I have had 4 Gi bleeds I got approved thyroid at 20% tinnitus 10% and the scar. Which was horrible due to 3 thyroid surgery 10%. Everything else secondary and supplemental denied. Even though I was seen for gi concerns while active

My question ... How would I go about requesting additional secondary?. I always thought that once you are 100% you are max out for the funds being received by the VA ? . @vets HangOut If you are 100% P&T I only suggest filing for conditions that could be a cause of death (heart conditions/cancers/respiratory conditions etc) because your family receives additional survivor benefits if you pass away from something you are service connected. Otherwise, there are SMCs, or special monthly compensation claims but GERD is not one of those. Its a lot to explain in a comment, so I will have to do a separate video altogether for that one!

I plan on requesting a supplemental claim ( still within one year now ) and use doctor notes and diagnosis from a knee surgery that he did about five years ago on my already service connected knee (that is more than 20 years old and protected 5257 ) to support my request to be given an additional rating of pain on flexion and worsening arthritis. I plan on including the doctors diagnosis and articulating in my personal statement how he identified my stage 4 level of degeneration and more. Does this sound good?

Tom, I’m a Vietnam Vet just recently jumped to 70%. My nose was injured in Nam and was not able to seek treatment. It healed without treatment causing problems. Upon returning to California I had surgery in a military hospital before being discharged. Do I need a nexus letter or can I just let the VA use my service medical records or just see my own ENT doctor
@TheVeteranCoach
@TheVeteranCoach 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! You will want to provide both our in-service medical records as well as your medical records now from your ENT. This will show them 2 things. A. That your injury was in service and B. That is is still an issue that should be compensated for. I hope this helps! If you are missing either piece of the puzzle they can say its either not related to service, or its no longer an issue worth paying you benefits for, so you want to show them both :)

Hey there! Thanks for the comment 😊 They cant/won't do any C&P exams while you are pregnant because they aren't able to accurately evaluate your range of motion etc. and will blame mental health symptoms on the hormones 😅 I was pregnant during one of my claims and at 8 weeks post partum they rescheduled my exams. You can certainly still apply to get that clock ticking, but just keep in mind you'll have to wait for those appointments.

I have a question for everyone. If someone has a successful VA Tinnitus claim and is awarded the 10%. How do you add or combine additional clams to that original successful claim ? Such as hearing loss or migraines or whatever. Will they be separate claims? or different ones ? Is it better to combine or not ?
@TheVeteranCoach

Hey there! If you didn't have a diagnosis for those issues while you were in the service, the usual best route is to file a secondary claim on the primary condition. Ex. Migraines secondary to tinnitus.

Well ask Seniors & Disabled & Vets who were on Medicare and on QMB Medicaid but since the rise in COLA these vulnerable people were dropped from QMB Medicaid because Feds raised SNAP food stamps income poverty guidelines by thousands & raised Women, Families & Children income poverty guidelines by thousands but the FEDS never raised the QMB Medicaid for Seniors & Disabled....So now Seniors & Disabled going bankrupt because medical care & medication costs along with rent, gas, food, etc.. So God help Seniors & Disabled now dying & suicides going up in this vulnerable group! But every all Senators, Representatives in D.C. & States (mine Gov.
