The 2023 Honda Accord (Starting @ 27,295 USD & 37,000 CAD) is the 11th generation of the best selling sedan in America. It's longer, it’s sleeker, and it sips even less fuel. The team went down to the launch in California to experience all the new accord has to offer in a hybrid Touring trim (38,985 USD & 44,500 CAD). We hope you enjoy the episode. SUBSCRIBE!

Not that I find the new Honda Accord unattractive, it's just no longer a standout where's to the old one was visually! I don't know why Honda felt the need to tone down the looks of the car, When Kia visually is killing it in their car designs! The technology in this car is definitely a step up from the previous Jen, but visually I feel haunted took a step backwards! I've had two Acuras and three Hondas by the way!

@@jamescox1806 I agree. This new Accord isn’t bad looking, but it’s boring looking. The previous Accord was really good looking, to the point where me, someone who has never been a fan of Honda, would actually break my neck when one was passing by or next to me. There have actually been thoughts in my head telling me I should buy one just from the way it looks (and also knowing they are 2.0L-turbo’s and can be tuned to be pretty quick). This new Accord is so boring looking compared to the last.

I think I figured it out. The one reason people would traditionally picked the Accord over the Camry was because of its more exciting drivetrain options and driving dynamics. Now the Accord is neutered and there's far less reasons to pick this over a Camry. There's also less reasons to pick it over a Civic.

Exactly. The Civic basically does what the Accord does for cheaper. Happy that Honda is still putting a big effort into the Civic line and platform. They can takes chances with it. It'd be my choice if I had to buy a new car right now.

Anyone who has owned or driven a 2.0 10 speed 10th gen accord knows what a gem it really was. The aftermarket support for it was amazing. It gave you a lot of luxury for the money, and was such a good car for someone maturing in age where a civic is a little too much of a younger person car. It was an alternative to the German sedans without giving up so much performance and gaining Honda reliability. What a shame Honda killed it for this boat

@ayushmalpeddi2793

I think it is a bit overrated. Yes the aftermarket was really good, but the 9th gen v6 had nearly identical performance and almost the same mpg, but with a proper exhaust note and smooth power delivery In fact if you want a sports sedan, the Accord wasn't even the best choice. That award 100% goes to the Nline or GT. Significantly more performance, better handling, steering feel was better, etc. Also the looks on the K5 was arguably better than the Accord. Now I've heard some complaints about the trans, but aside from that it's probably the car to get as an alternative to the germans. Not really the accord which was still too soft and uninspiring to drive compared to the koreans. Gotta go test drive them... They'll probably the blow you away. Only complaint is too much power for FWD, but the Accord also has traction problems.

My dad has a 2013 Accord EXL. Bought it CPO in 2016 for only $17,000 with 40k miles on it. Today it has 110,000 miles and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. Drove it recently and was blown away by how sharp the steering is still after 10 years and all those miles. That’s the brilliant thing with the accord - yes it’s reliable and yes it’s practical, and yes it gets little respect - but damn does it steer well.

This had to be such a hard video to write. As a car that is doing its best to be as inconspicuous as possible, while also being ubiquitous on North American roads, finding an angle to talk about had to be a real struggle. Compelling content as always, though. Here's hoping that Honda gives this thing some verve with a new variant in a few years' time.

Sadly this will probably be the last Accord done the old fashioned way, even if the truly fun V6/2.0T's are now both gone. If the aim is to steer people towards Acura then I understand, hope the gamble works out for Honda. Sure the next gen will likely be much faster in a straight line (at the expense of range) but it wont feel as light on its feet with the inevitable added weight of battery packs. Of course that can be said about any make/model that will have the same name yet very different drivetrain.

I have worked for Honda as well like many others from the comment section but in Europe. I have tried the 10th gen Accord as well in the 2.0t with auto box trim and it was a great all round car with a very decent punch and good auto gearbox(not like the other Honda autos or CVTs- reason being it was ZF transmission), and in some ways it felt German(good way) but it wasn't in any means a drivers or sport car. For me the only real drivers Accord with a hidden tunning potential was the Accord Cl9/Acura TSX(2004-2008). That car had a great chassis, great engine and so much potential, that is why it was even used as a base for a race car by Spoon.

It reminds me of what happened to the Acura TSX. The first gen was great, had true VTEC on the intake AND exhaust, aluminium manifolds, double wishbone suspension, all the works that made it an enthusiast sedan. They gutted the 2nd gen TSX, made it heavier, made the gear ratios longer, cheaped out on plastic manifolds, took away true VTEC, and made it drive like a boat.

Looks like Honda's plan is to make Honda's well made, good value, reliable and sensible cars and migrate Acura to the performance brand. Be interesting if there is a next generation TL to see how that version of the Accord platform turns out.
@ryannatividad3137
@ryannatividad3137 Жыл бұрын
You are probably on to something with the Honda/Acura strategy. In the recent past Honda has directly competed with Acura with some of their models...and in some cases, like the 2.0T Accord before the TLX was replaced, arguably surpassed Acura. They are probably trying to give them more performance, luxury, and styling differences than they had sometime between 2013-2019 or so. There is an implied rule that Honda can be either premium/semi-luxurious (new Accord) or sporty (CIvic Type R/SI), but not both. This leaves room for cars like the TLX and the new Integra to have space in the lineup by being the only way to get both performance and semi-luxury at the same time.

It all makes good sense , but: 1) Hondas recently got significantly more expensive, which is also the case for many other manufacturers. 2) What will Honda leave on the table for the rest of the world (Not the US), when people will want fast Hondas? Hondas will not be fast and Acuras simply wont be available.

@@denisszr1522 several Acura models in North America (Integra, NSX, the old TSX, and many others over the years) are rebranded as Hondas in markets where they don't sell Acura. That's likely what they will continue doing in those markets. We could also see them begin in introduce the Acura brand to more markets in the future too, similar to the way Lexus has expanded the availability of the brand worldwide rather than selling some North American Lexus models as Toyotas like they did previously.

I will say this: As a Honda enjoyer, If Toyota still has their Camry TRD 300hp V6 models, then I’m never going to look back at the 192hp 1.5T Accord and their 206hp hybrids. I loved the older 278hp 2017 V6 Honda Accord’s and even the 252hp 2018 2.0T Accords that used to win drag races against Ecoboom Mustangs; but if this pitiful 192hp is all they got that’s not a hybrid, then I am no longer on the market for an Accord, and the Accord is dead to me. I understand that not enough people bought these higher hp products, but it’s just sad to see the performance options of V6, V8, and 2.0T disappearing.

"It's an Accord" USED to mean that you could stomp your foot and surprise a lot of cars, both from a dig and especially from a roll. The big V6 of yesteryears was always a fantastic engine option and swapping to the 2.0L gave us similar performance with better economy. It was a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing (as a family sedan, at least) and now, it's just a good car. That's fine for a lot of people but if reliability isn't your big concern (ie, you'll trade it in when the warranty is out), I'd probably take an Elantra N every time (and this is from the guy that's only had Hondas as family vehicles for most of his life)... Honda just lost most of the enthusiasts that need a big family sedan, I'm pretty sure. We don't have canyon roads on the way to work but we do have lots of straights and the bigger motor always gave us some grins. Now, we can listen to talk radio and marvel that it's quieter than before, mainly because we don't care to use the engine for anything other than basic motive power rather than fun.

This is exactly where I stand, I need a practical car but would also like to enjoy my everyday driving and the occasional weekend trip. I have an older accord and it's such a great car for that purpose. It's quick, nimble, stores all your groceries, and surprises a lot of people when back roads get involved. It's such an amazing formula for that certain demographic and they got rid of it. My next car will be the Elantra N.

Loving mine as well. I don't understand why everyone feels like they need a sports car. It's a hybrid sedan! It's plenty fast at getting up to highway/passing speed, sips fuel, and is so incredibly comfortable. You won't find these features with this build quality in this price range. It's an absolute gem and I'm so glad that I test drove it vs a Camry and a Sonata instead of listening to some internet bozos.

As someone who used to own a 2012 Camry V6, it couldn’t even pretend to be a sports car even with the brisk acceleration. However, it was great at being an inexpensive quasi-luxury car, and the extra power and being able to pass just about anyone on PA highways was a big luxury that gave the car lots of value. Honda leaving out a big motor is a huge miss for them, especially when EVs are a thing now and they all pretty much accelerate quickly. The least they could’ve done was make a hybrid that has bigger electric motors to give it at least 250 net horsepower. I suspect this Accord won’t sell as well as the prior versions.
@anonym3017
@anonym3017 Жыл бұрын
that doesn't work with hondas e:HEV system. Which is what they put in the new accord. at wide open throttle or speeds under 60mph the wheels are only driven by the electric motor while the engine only produces electricity. at part throttle between 60 and 75ish mph the engine is connected to the front wheels via a single clutch and no wheels. so for it to have 250 hp for more than a few seconds the engine wopuld need to have 270hp.

@@M67v that is their new hybrid system. 2 months ago I’d have been right there with most ripping the new accord. From the pictures I’d seen I was dissapointed in the new design. I was intrigued by the interior but the exterior fell flat for me. So I went to the Honda dealer to look at a new civic touring for my sons birthday. When I walked into the showroom there was a new crv and a white touring hybrid accord. When I first looked at it I had ti go around the back of the car to make sure it was an accord because in person and in that trim it just didn’t look like the pictures I had seen. I was blown away how much better it looked in person. Then I got Inside and a salesman walked over and asked me what I thought. I simply said “ sell it for msrp and I’ll write you a check right now “. He pulled the identical car around for a test drive and after the drive I was even more enthusiastic about buying it. After reading reviews I knew it easily going to be a zippy car. But with that expectation I was really surprised how nimble it actually was. Way more than sufficient for my driving needs. What really convinced me was at cruising speed just how buttery smooth it was. The overall ride quality felt like a luxury car. Takes bumps in the road like a champ. Going into an off-ramp I let it fly around it and I was just blown away by the lack of any real noticeable body roll and how grounded and even it stayed. The interior in my opinion shits all over the previous gen. Not that it was a deciding factor but the 12.3 inch touch screen is brilliant in terms of brightness and crispness. Very very sharp screen and very responsive. The digital guagues are also really well done and sharp. I love the customizations and the visualization of how the engine , battery and motors are working together. There is zero noticeable change or feel when it’s switching between the 2. The eCVT on the highway is very competent as it has an infinite number of gear ratios. Anyone that’s on the fence or are just going by pictures and videos of the car I implore you to actually drive one. Probably the only negative of the accord lineup is the base model lx is just pitiful. It doesn’t even look like the same car. Fuel economy while not quite as good as some otter hybrids is still pretty damn good. A full tank and I’ve achieved just under 600 miles on one tank of gas. That was with some early aggressive driving to get a feel for the car. I’m pretty confident I’ll be achieving 50+ mpg soon enough. The 12 speaker Bose sound system is pretty incredible as well.

Basically it's now an appliance like a Camry. And the gist of your review is that that's all it should be. I've never viewed my 2.0L Turbo and 6MT as a sports sedan, but it does have a sporty feel to it. My view is that you should be happy with whatever you get because you're going to be making a monthly payment on it. Nothing worse than making a large outlay each month on something that doesn't do anything for you. The car looks good but it is little more than a people mover. Sadly my '19 will be my last Accord.

Not everyone makes payments on their vehicle. So for me it's more about value, and 11th gen Accord for my use does not stack up to the $38k price tag. A 10th Gen 2.0t Accord did well in the family Sport sedan Under $40k segment. The 11th Gen has no real performance. They were accelerating up the hill for like 7 seconds and only gained 10 MPH, just sad. Yes it may be better planted on the curves, but don't expect to feel a rush when you exit on throttle, cause it isn't there. I am very tempted to go Audi or BMW at this point. I always viewed the Accord sport (v6 or 2.0t) as a value sport sedan. It's not going to win any street races. But at least it would put a real smile on your face with it's sporty feel.

Gone is the character that made the Accord different than other family sedans on the road. It now looks like every other car on the road - Mustang or Taurus grill indeed. Yes! It does look VAG - you got that right! Now as an added bonus I cannot even get the more powerful engine. Thanks dudes. Great pros, cons and overall summary. I just came from the local Honda dealers. Interestingly, one dealer had zero on the lot and the second dealer had every Accord option in at least one color. Based on your review, along with a couple of other KZfaq channel reviewers, I was very much looking forward to seeing the latest Accord in person. Well I walked up to one via a side profile. I immediately thought, it looks as big as a Ford Crown Vic from back in the day. Why is it so big? Then I thought, is it as big as last year? Again, why did they make it so big? At least offer a sport station wagon (estate) if its this big, please. The inside looks great, though. I was overall disappointed. I can sum up the look this way. Picture seeing a very chiseled, athletic and lean looking male or female body. Then look up at their face and say, huh. Then look away and on to the next eye candy. I walked away not caring about driving it. I wouldn't want to be seen in this vehicle. I'd rather be seen in a Camry XSE hybrid. The Civic Hatchback is more interesting and useful. About the Bose stereo, the subwoofer needs to be broken in. For what ever reason the Bose subwoofer gets better as its used. I know from experience. I currently have a KIA K5 EX with the Tech package, a more interesting look. I change cars about every three years so there's me.

Looks like a pretty good Accord to me. I'm currently driving my second Accord and my fourth Honda overall, and this new one seems to be on-point. I am especially glad Honda has finally focused on making a quieter cabin. Interior noise has always been their products' biggest design weakness, IMO. It's usually just inoffensive 'white' background noise - until I want to listen to music, that is. Then I realize it's a problem. Honda tried teaming-up with Bose to use their noise-cancelling technology but, based on my car and on reports I've read about other Honda products, including Acuras, that system was an abject failure. I have it disabled in my car, which doesn't seem any louder in general, but the stereo sounds _so_ much better without it's interference.

I'm on my second V6 Accord (2005 and 2016) and it's bittersweet to walk away from Honda now. The Accord always had a sleeper, "sporty sedan/coupe" option and that's what the fans loved about it. They already dialed that back when they dropped the V6, and they've completely neutered it now that the 2.0T and automatic/manual transmissions are out of the equation. I get what Honda is doing - Civic gets the Type R and fun, Accord is the more serious sedans, and Acura is the in between. I'm not a fan of the direction the brand is heading and this is yet another disappointment from Honda, IMO (TLX Type S, killing the NSX, Integra, Civic Si, now Accord). I plan on trading my car in for something new, and it will certainly be European.

I kept it 3 years, and it was paid off. I traded it in for 1st of the new 4th Generation Accords. A week after getting my new Accord I coming from work 11pm nearing home. I see this 3rd Gen Accord turn in front of me while stopped at Red-light. It looked very familiar with accessory wheels and foglights rear spoiler. It was my car I could catch lady driving it. I saw it two other times parked. Saw lady standing near it same area but I was on way to pick nephew up from school. She must have like my added touches.

I think we are going to see an Accord Type R this generation. Backing the top trim down performance wise makes space for it in the lineup. Honda did just develope a 355 hp -twin- turbo 3 liter V6 for the TLX and MDX Type S last year...

It would be cool if they brought back the accord type R. The rest of the world got the accord euro R which is basically a type R Accord

@@brianhoover7771 I stand corrected, it does appear to be single turbo, odd choice for a V6. Actually I am struggling to think of any other factory single turbo V6 besides the one Porsche is using in the Cayenne and Panamera.

Turbos are so retarded. They shoulda just done a 3.5 or something. My 08 accord is 3.0L No turbo and its super reliable

As a future accountant, i found this car appealing as hell. I like the way it looks, not over styled but still a bit classy. I can sit in it, set the hvac and radio without having a headache. Fuel economy is wonderful too. A rational car for us, accountants, that are excited about boring yet functional things.

Hi guys, I have a lots of Love for Accords. I saw it first time in 1990, I was in my 6th grade and my family friend's father used to drive it to our home. I was curious why he paid double the Tax when he came back to India. It looked like one of the Best car of that era. But later when i got my Driving License. He picked me to drive the Accord for a 650 Km drive, i then understood why they called it a legend. Even today i can say the best executive car and then joined the Accord Fan club. Beautiful proportioned car, I have driven the Merc, and the Audi and the Lexus, but nothing drove like an Accord did.

Thanks for giving us the real deal on the 2023 Accord. I have a 2015 model EXL v6. I really like it. My question is: will the 4cylinder hold up under high miles 250,00-300,00 miles? I am skeptical.
