The primary reason was due to keeping one fuel type for all of my needs. I use rec fuel for all of my 2-cycle mix machines. I also use rec fuel for a generator and some other machines as well. Having the X758 didn’t make sense for me as I didn’t see a noticeable difference in power with mowing and snow removal, (47 Snowblower), between the gas and diesel versions of this series . The X758 required me to keep a separate fuel for the X758 only. All great machines. Fuel type is key. Go with the machine that allows you to simplify with regard to fuel and don’t worry about a lack of power with regard to the gas machines. X738/X739. They are incredibly powerful for all applications. If you have other diesel machines, go with the X758 to simplify your fuel situation. I will say that I had the X758 and a Kubota BX machine and love the smell of diesel exhaust. But it just wasn’t practical for me with all of the other gassers that I have.

It sounds silly but I never liked the look of the X739 with the inverted rear wheels. The four wheel steer was not a necessity for me with regard to mowing. It was really nice for snow removal but not a game changer. The look of the tractor and the simplicity of the rear transaxle made me move to the X738. The X738, X739 and X758 are all incredible machines and I don’t think there is anything else that compares to them. Buy the one that uses the fuel type that you primarily use and it’s a toss-up between the X738/X739. If you have a lot of landscaping that you need to mow around, perhaps go with the X739.

@@ohanyan1 ya I could never see an advantage to having 4 wheel steer on a big ass heavy lawn tractor like the X739, especially if it has the HDAP tires on it. If you're just mowing and you have a lot of obstacles and tight turns in your lawn, then the smaller lighter X354 with turf tires would make much more sense. On the X739, how the hell would the differential lock work with 4 wheel steering? If you need to use the differential lock, having 4 wheel steering doesn't make much sense. Ya, I'd pick the X738 over the X739 any day.
