I have the dual sport version. Did all the usual mods, delkevic exhaust, kdx snorkle, 02 and secondary throttle delete. It really wakes it up ,I'm guesstimating 5 or 6 horsepower, and because I ride on the road more than I thought I would I geared it up .(15t sprocket in frt ) and I'm going with more street oriented tires. I love the versatility and the fun.

I couldn’t keep the Delkevic…it was too loud for my taste but definitely a good slip on.

It's funny you mentioned the mt07. I've been wanting one for a while, but i really like the 300sm and i think my plan is to get a 300sm, keep it and get an mt07 or mt09.

Sweet! I find that these class of CC motorcycles, (250,300,450) are perfect for street riding. I used to think that slower was boring and underwhelming but my feelings about that has changed drastically, since purchasing the klx. I admit, I’ve been bitten by the super moto bug and love to ride even more, now! 🙌

I test rode the 2022 model a year ago. Could not stop smiling. Wrapping the throttle and going nowhere fast....lol. But it handles, turns, and stops on a dime. I plan to get one when I move to Thailand. They also accept Hepco Becker C-bow luggage systems.

@Wabbit961 Yes! There’s nothing like riding a slow bike fast, that’s for sure!! 😁 I agree with you, the bike handles great and furthermore, it’s very smooth when shifting gears. Enjoy your move to Thailand and ride safe out there! 👍

A 250 thats basically a 300 is exactly what you want for the difficult technical trails it weights less so you can miscle it around for longer and youre carrying less fuel weight you have to lean around offroad to go just as far. 250s were like the king of casual backwoods offroading for a long time. And that was before 6 speeds

Felt buyers remorse when I first bought the CRF300L, but when it got stolen I missed it big time. Still miss it. Love to have a smaller bike to just jump on and go rip around, but at first it felt like a scooter with a clutch. I found many uses for it and rode it more than my FJO9. I rode the thing to work and back every day 30 miles or so. One recommendation. Skip the MT07 and get the MT09 for your bigger street bike. Trust me my friend. You will be happier with the MT09. It’s a very nimble bike and it has modes and traction control etc…. Ride it in rain mode for the first couple of days. Or the the other recommendation would be the Tenere 700. Great all around bike.

@C Neiner I appreciate the feedback but I've had a change of heart - 6 months into riding a Kawi motorcycle and I've converted. Granted, I may feel the same about Yamaha but I've yet to ride one. That said, I'm now looking into another Kawasaki model - nothing personal on Yamaha, It's just the path I'm on, at this time. However, given how much I enjoy riding motorcycles, I'm sure I'll get around to trying (and most likely, purchasing) a Yamaha.

I'm selling my 2017 09 & thinking about getting the KLX. I'm 66 years old & the Yamaha just demands to much attention to ride it fast, for me anyway. It's like it is just waiting for me to make a mistake so it can pounce. I'm pretty sure the little Kawasaki would be more fun & more forgiving. If there's such a thing as too much fun it's the 09's motor.

I can top it out around 90 it doesn’t feel slow to me until after 65 or 70 and other than every now and then wishing it had like 25% more power just for top speed and passing on busy roads it’s near perfect as a whole master race around town bike for sure

@@bubbazanetti6657 yeah It’s not fast stock but for 300cc I’ve pushed it (has aftermarket performance parts so I’m pushing more CCs than stock haven’t dyno it yet) and personally living in a heavy traffic city it’s been the best to push it to red line as I’m spitting lanes going as fast as I can(yes I got a death wish)get more of a thrill than my my R1 I can’t get the full potential need to go the track for that but my point of view great bike for the price.

@@rustyshackleford9374 great bike we can agree and if you don’t have aftermarket exhaust and minor modifications done to it I suggest you do so, power will increase make sure you do your research…..you could change the sprockets to 15t/37t supermoto stock comes 14t/37t….I hope to find a weekend to do the switch and come back with feed back

looking at the klx300 dual sport and SM to go with the KLR650. The KLR is almost too heavy for tight trails/woods riding, but want to be able to take it on the road. Does the SM work pretty good off road also? I noticed they offer a big bore kit now for it.

@eminiscalperpro9729 it’s a great bike for off-road trails for sure, but you would probably want to slap on some proper knobby’s for that. You don’t want go off-road with the street tires it comes equipped with.

@TheAnnoyingBoss

Listen bro no 300 isnt. Where im at theres few roads 65+ so its super veristile. I just wouldnt take it on the interstate when everyones pushing 90 in a 75 amd theyrr pushing you to keep up with the flow but youre slow as hell man. This is gold for getting mcdonalds or hitting a tecunical trail offroad. Nothing too crazy, pretty budget but its still a 250 dual sport so the lightweight is the advantage. Its better at 0-15 than it is at 80 i think. Its still pretty capable though. Suprisingly. Itll get you around

No. DRZ needs fuel injection and a 6th gear-BADLY. I had a 2006 SM- great power but severely dated styling and still carbureted means it’s overpriced vs the KLX. I was always trying to shift into 6th which isn’t there on the DRZ. KLX much better bike all around.
