I dumped my 2022 390 almost the exact same way. The mirror folded in on itself when that happened. That's when I discovered if you loosen the set screw just a bit, you can fold your mirrors in for trails. Cool little design to prevent the mirror from snapping off if you dump the bike.

I live in S America and belong to an expat riding group. I have a great city bike but really not for the mountains here. A few guys in this group have this bike and love it. I thought might be too small. But it seems like off-roading is good! Thanks! I will test-ride one this weekend. Whats so weird about this bike is the seat is higher than the 890 and 790. With those bikes, I can get more of my feet on the ground.

I just tested this 390 and a 790 back-to-back. I must say I had waaaay more fun on the 390 than the 790. So flickable, and really good torque, especially if you dump the clutch! The 790 was great on a straight line, but a pig to turn, have to really weight the pegs. But the 390 was just right for me

I think that is the perfect bike for ppl that live in countryside and need to commute daily through villages and do occasional "off-road" gravel stuff. As soon as you start hitting the highway you want all the protection you can get both upper body/head and legs so 890 would be far more suitable. Now that being said the 2023 ktm 390 is a fun bike to ride, you can get it with spoked wheels and the seat has a lower 830mm position too, not the regular 850mm you had in the previous version. As far as geometry goes it has nothing to do with off-road and you'll ride it seated in 90% of time. The lack of cruise control shouldn't be regarded as a minus since it's not meant for ppl that are doing the highway but it would have been a nice addition. At that price point you don't get that even on more expensive and more capable bikes on the street, Yamaha Tracer comes to mind here. Ofc there are after-market options that ppl use in countries like India when commuting long roads everyday.

You hit the nail on the head. I live in rural America and use this as my daily commuter. I regularly hit snow, gravel, and dirt. I bought a 2022 390 for all the reasons you mentioned. The only time I dislike the bike is when I get up to 70+ mph. I bought an aftermarket windscreen that improved my fuel economy and eliminated a lot of the buffeting on my helmet. This bike absolutely shines in that 55 MPH rural setting. I got 73 MPG with my new windscreen and had a blast. It handles gravel extremely well. I've never felt uncomfortable on it. It is the perfect starter bike.

Depends on your skills and what your plans are mate. If you want to do a lot of highway and long travels take the 700. If you plan in riding always offroad take the 390 😁

Himalayan is a good bike but it's pretty under powered imo.. 390 is amazingly powerful and punchy.. and can easily cruise at 120-130

Yep love it! Long ride to Spa Francorchamps this weekend. You can take the inside rain jacket out and put it over your jacket. Same goes for the pants 😁👌
