The range is a deal breaker, but other than that, this seems like a nice luxury car. Imagine what Toyota can do when it actually gets serious about building electric cars. It kind of makes me wonder why the BZ4X is so awful. Why doesn't it have the 200 hp motor up front like this does? I'm wondering why Toyota didn't put a bigger battery in this to make it more competitive. It's pretty small for a vehicle of this size. The 6.6 kw onboard charger probably won't be a big problem for most people but it's an indication of how behind this car is compared to some of the competition.

How often do you travel over 200 miles a day?
@peterfessier9780
@peterfessier9780 Жыл бұрын
Not often, but often enough that it’s important. It won’t really be 225. That’s ideal range. If it’s cold and you are driving at highway speeds it will be less. And you won’t drive to 0 charge. Add on 20 in wheels with the higher model and it’s ideally 196. That’s bad.

The $60k asking price doesn’t make sense. Range and efficiency are low, but so is performance. The interior is nice, but not $60k lux. Other EVs at this price, or lower, offer something special. Lexus will get buyers that want a second car with the Lexus badge. Buyers that never need a long distance and trust Lexus quality, service, etc. But there are better vehicles at this price, so I expect this to sell in low numbers.

Lexus-Toyota. As one of the giants, this is just a bit sad. 200 mile range at best, low charging speed, no frunk, will likely be 60k+ MSRP + stealership markups and no rebates this year. I like the moon roof tech and steer by wire but overall, this has the recipe for low sales.

Toyota drops the ball again while complaining there's no demand for EVs. Maybe if they made something good like what Ford, Hyundai and Kia have done, they could actually compete in the economy car EV world. Oh, wait, this is suppose to be the luxury version. Still not great when compared to the EV luxury cars. If it can't hold a candle to economy cars, what makes you think it'll sell well in the luxury space? Come on Toyota, you're better than this

Ok, I know Lexus buyers that switch to Tesla, anyway, if the RZ 450e offered better range, I think Lexus would be shocked how well it could do, but with its range, can Lexus really justify its starting price and one wonders, how it would do with a lower starting price, overall, I would rank it, behind the Tesla Model Y (better EV in every way, note I said EV), next, the Cadillac Lyriq (one of Cads best model to date and feel worth its price), following the BMW iX (a problem, you have to look at it and dark colors look better) and next the Mercedes EQE SUV (I would wait for it), this may be a stretch, but I have the RZ 450e tied with the Audi e-tron (or upcoming 2024 Q8 e-tron, the name change), crazy but both of these EVs suffer the same problem, range, as for the Genesis GV60 (it's too small, enough said), I know Audi has the Q4 e-tron (it's fine, but wasn't a fan of the VW ID.4, so), I kind of always pull for Lexus or Cadillac vs the Germans, one would ask why didn't Lexus offer quicker charging and a larger battery pack, overall, it's what I expected from the first Lexus EV, given the fact Toyoyta's not a big EV fans

for a vehicle of this price, size, and weight, 200ish miles is too low of range. My model y has supposedly 330 miles of range, but they recommend limiting it to 90%, or 300 miles so you don't constantly fully charge it. Then with my actual day to day driving, i usually see 225 miles. I have never seen over 250 miles per 90% charge, and nowhere close to 300. so with this lexus, you're realistically driving a 160 mile range vehicle, which just plain sucks

The Model Y, IMO, is mediocre. I get that it has great performance and all. But compare build quality, ride quality, NVH levels, and the Y falls way short. You have a nerve saying that the Lexus is a joke compared to a Tesla. What do you think a Tesla is? It's a great EV but as a car, it's not all that premium. Lexus compares favorably in quality to Mercedes and BMW. Tesla doesn't come close to either 3 of them in terms of quality and refinement. I don't mean to knock Tesla because I think Tesla does some things extremely well. But calling a Lexus RX level car a joke compared to a Tesla is uncalled for,..

The performance model Y is a league above this thing and still cheaper, has the best charging infrastructure and has more than 300 miles of range. Almost double the usable range of this crap. @@sofoboachie5221 To talk about range is one-dimensional. The absolute nuts and bolts make the Lexus a more refined all-around vehicle for those that value luxury/refinement first, EV second. If you value EV efficiency first, then Tesla is close to tops but others are coming close. What's needed is to end these childish my car is better than yours comments and appreciate what each marque brings to the table. Tesla should be respected but they can be improved. Same with Lexus. Amazing all the non EV owning fossil fuel advocates blasting this car without ever driving one. 0 emissions is the point of EVs. Yeah it’s overpriced but it’s a Lexus and high build quality will be a given over other alternatives. The debate over mining for lithium, cobalt and other battery materials isn’t over so battery technology has to evolve to include increased range while reducing material. Toyota is supposedly leading the charge. So until battery manufacturers like QuantumScape can actually mass produce ceramic silicon batteries, ALL current mass produced EV batteries are compromised. EPA range is a best guess, and the demographics for this Lexus points to it as being an elegant second car run about town vehicle.

As a luxury second are around town this will be great. My guess is they won't make a lot of these and they will sell to the narrow group that will choose this over other EVs because of the reputation Lexus has. But if Toyota wants to sell a lot of electric cars they'll have to do better because there are better electric cars out there. Driving the car is really important, but the numbers do tell you something.

@@peterfessier9780 What do you define as "better"? Because not everyone defines that word the same way. If enough people like the Toyota approach, they'll get the Toyota. Toyota wants to sell cars and they'll sell what the market dictates. When it is more BEVs, then Toyota will make BEVs that appeal to the most people. The best selling Toyotas don't have the best stats. But they simply work for a lot of people. I do agree with you that driving the car is really important. AFAIC, much more important than simply looking at stats.
