As a CX-30 owner I agree that if I had a family I would have gotten a CX-5 for the extra space. With it just being my fiancé, dog and I though, the CX-30 is plenty of space. I love my 22 CX-30 turbo premium plus.

Yeah so many say the larger versions are better. Sure they are, if you have a bunch of stuff/people to carry, and a larger parking area. For some of us, the CX-30 really is the best choice.

I am about to purchase a 2023 CX-30 S, base model. I test drove it 3 times and each time the quite drive, responsive steering, smooth ride, great ground-clearance, and pretty decent pick-up have sold me on this model. In regard to your question about WHY I (the average consumer) would purchase this vehicle vs the CX-5 is because I want a smaller SUV with AWD with good gas MPG...so this checked the boxes for me. Plus, my kids are grown and have their own vehicles, I no longer have anyone to sit in the back seat (except our dogs). I agree that the seats are comfortable and the back seat is really just fine as long as you are of 'average' (I am 5'-1') size. If you are taller and will be sitting behind the driver who might also be taller and have the seat pushed all the way back, then I can see it being very cramped back there. This vehicle will be mostly just me driving it, so I consider it a good fit for me. It's an affordable car with such nice features even at the base model 'S' I feel that I'm getting the most bang for my buck($24,415)!

I just got the 2023 Carbon Edition and the mpg estimates are accurate (if you don't drive with a lead foot). I took a short trip which was 95% hwy driving and I ended up averaging 35 to 40 mpg. I had a 2018 CX5 and it drove clunky to me. This drives more like the 2014 Mazda 3 Hatchback that I used to own. I love it.

The wife has a Rav4 and I also have a Chevrolet Silverado truck. What I wanted was a small nimble all weather daily driver. Rear seating wasn't important since it's just the wife and I, my daughter has been grown and on her own for a long time. I originally considered the CX3 but saw it was being discontinued. While on the Mazda site I saw the CX30 and thought this is it. I went and test drove a Preffered with the NA engine and liked it. I spent a lot of time on the test drive and looked the vehicle over before making the choice to buy it. I wanted some tech, a sunroof and leather or leather like seating so the Preffered was the best option for me as far as features vs price. I bought a 21 new and have going on 22k miles. I've been on long road trips and daily it in North Idaho bad roads and tough winters and even on the not so great stock tires it's been a great car. I average 34 to 35 mpg and the power is sufficient. I've never felt I needed more power. I recommend this car for people like me who aren't trying to haul a family or a lot of stuff around although with the back seats down you can haul some pretty bulky items and I have done that. If you have a family, the CX5 is the better bet.

Glad it works out for you and that you’re happy with your new Mazda. They make some of the best products all things considered. I guess what I failed to mention and describe in the video is, yes it may work out for certain individuals with their nuanced situations. But when you go to sell the vehicle down the road to someone, they will want the bigger vehicle. What I wanted to say was a CX-5 would be better for resale down the road while not being a grotesquely large product that can’t be mangaged.
@RockandRollWoman
@RockandRollWoman Жыл бұрын
I kept my Mazda MX6 for 25 years, so I'm not worrying about resale! Even if I were, I wouldn't accept the disadvantages of having to drive a larger car. The CX30 is much more fun, and it's easier to find parking in the city. Small is beautiful, baby! 😁

My wife just bought 2023 CX-30 premium plus turbo. I think the upscale interior is the feature that sold her on it. What we don't like about it is; The approach angle, the long overhang on the front-end won't clear the angle of our driveway. The key fob buttons are very small and difficult to use. Even though the cx-30 premium plus comes with two sets of car mats it doesn't come with a cargo cover or an all-weather cargo tray.

As a Audi Q5 daily driver, why is this vehicle compared to Subaru or Honda HRV??? I personally feel like the CX-30 is a luxury vehicle after renting it for a week, and should be comparable to vehicles such as the Lexus or the GLA, that in my opinion is where the CX-30 sits in between

I lease a ‘21 CX30T. I’ve had two CX5s and briefly a CX9. All 100% reliable and for me offer excellent value. The CX30T uses significantly more fuel than a normally aspirated CX5 (21 vs 28 mpg). I have a 2021 n/a premium in the soul red/white color combo in ur vid. It also fit in my garage better than the longer 5. I avg city what the epa says and if i keep to legal interstate speeds i have gotten as high as 36 mpg but more commonly 34-35 mpg

Deciding between a cx-30 and a cx-5 or cx-50 now -- I'm leaning towards a cx-30 because we are DINKs with two 70 pound German shepherds. Back seat space is not particularly important to us for that reason, but we do want more than a sedan to fit the dogs. We're also from Minnesota and love to camp, so again a larger more off-road ready vehicle is important to us. A larger vehicle is worth considering, but the lower price of the cx-30 and the better driving experience are pushing us towards the cx-30.

I drove the 50 and the 5 last weekend and really didn't enjoy the 50 nearly as much I thought I would. I liked the 5 better but didn't feel totally "sold" and I realized the 30 can be an option. Not a current owner, I'm going to end up with the cx-30 over the cx-5 simply because of price and size. I actually want the smaller car at the lower price point. I don't have kids, so I'm more concerned with the front of the cabin being good rather than the rear passenger seats. The small size back there doesn't bother me. The car is really just for me. With the cx-30, I can get the same tech/overall features at the same trim level as a cx-5, but for less money. Also, the smaller size/weight for the same engine HP means the cx-30 should be more responsive and faster. I also like the way it looks more, it's leaner and more aggressive. If I had a family, I definitely would step up to the cx-5 though.

As far as door sound and quality perception, it is widely known there is no correlation between the sound and the quality. Most companies who make a car with a great sounding door are basically adding weights and dampening to create that illusion. You could apply Dynamat to the inside of these CX30 doors and there you have it. Mazda probably looked at it and didn't see the value in worrying about an illusion. Me, I don't care how the door sounds, I care how the car performs and how it feels. Since the Mazda vehicles do so well in a crash I'd imagine the doors do what they are supposed to, regardless of the illusion of sound or not.

It’s just not a very premium experience for a brand that’s trying to be premium and even go upmarket. It’s ok for Toyota since they’re not trying to impress anyone but the subtle details go a long way in making a good impression expecially if you’re trying to attract premium shoppers.

Interesting point. Might be due to the manufacturing location, ours are made in Japan whereas I believe North American models are made in Mexico.

I LOVE my non-turbo 2.5L 186hp Mazda 2022 CX-30 Carbon Edition (after some additional black-out cosmetic modifications that I made), & it has been a problem/issue free 17+ months thus far, but I feel Mazda has made a mistake by adding cylinder-deactivation tech to the 2023 model CX-30 (& most of their other models). I'm glad that I got the sweet-spot 2022 version instead, especially considering how dismal the U.S. auto market is for the true compact/subcompact segment. Literally nothing else appealed to me besides the CX-30 when I was shopping for a vehicle under $40K, for a variety of reasons (belt/chain CVT transmissions, lack of manual transmission options, awful styling, turbo-engines, stop/start tech, cylinder deactivation tech, etc.).

I am a cx-30 2021 GS trim owner, great car but truth be told I will have no choice but sell it soon when I am ready to have kids. To small and I know it will be shitty for baby seats. It's great for my dog and fiance and as a city driver, the primary reason was the need for a small car that doesn't have a CVT and is a AWD as I live in a city called sherbrooke in quebec. It is a supper confident and fun car in the snow, off road and gravel roads who are you kidding...even 2 wheel drive cars do fine, who are ppl kidding claiming they need a awd or 4x4. If you are planning on real off roading get a 2023 colorado zr2 or ranger raptor 2024, otherwise zip it. What I hate about the mazda, is the piano black bullshit on the most busy spot, 😒. Looks nice but I am constantly policing my fiance to not scratch it, so imagine a kid. Mazda has become too focused on competing with BMW for trying to be fancy that they are missing what made them good in the first place: affordability and convinence. As an owner the mazda cx-30 is a vehicle made for the pre-wed driver with no kids who lives where there is snow and hills, or the pre-retired or retired person who wants something classish near BMW's level but don't wanna pay quite as much for the name. Edit: I am very very disappointed that Android auto isn't wireless, Mazda is really behind on the game when it comes to electronics or electric. The infotainment system I actually love it, took me 3 weeks to adapt but never need to wipe the screen or worry about scratches. Do note: The phone call quality is full of shit and the speaker button to record messages doesn't record properly for a text creating weird msgs that have no ressemblence to what I said.

Why not just get an aftermarket stereo if you don't want the other premium features?

The money I spend on an aftermarket sound system I might as well just upgrade to the trim level that has the better audio system and not have unnecessary hands tamper with the vehicle

@@MeynMotorGroup Fair enough. We all choose our tradeoffs. Fortunately the stereo in the other cx30 models is better than what you get in many other cars. My neighbor's Forester cost plenty more, but her sound system is weak.

here's a weird one for you, looking at five rather different cars all at the same price, what would you go with for a small family of 3: 1. 2018 G80 60k miles 2. 2016 NX200t 60k miles 3. 2016 ES350 60k miles 4. 2020+ CX 30 10k miles 5. 2018+ CX 5 30k miles

I just traded in my 2023 CX-5 Signature for a 2023 CX-30 Premium Plus. I wasn't super happy with a few characteristics of the drive of the CX-5, and I was surprised when I test drove the CX-30 to find that its drivetrain felt more refined and the ride was more composed as well, so I made the switch. I gave up some space, a couple of features, and it's a pinch (but just so) louder at highway speeds, but I gained a more rewarding driving experience.
