From San Diego Born and raised… it will be very difficult to defeat mighty UCONN. They have played lights out…. Definitely UCONN has earned the role as favorite. Totally understandable. Hopefully SDSU can play well.

@@SelfMadeTradez thanks my friend. I recognize good basketball and man UCONN has played well. SDSU plays a brand that is gritty, tough, and tactically aware. They will have to play at a very high level to beat UCONN but best of luck to you as well.

I don't think a single CBS Sports HQ show ever picked SDSU to win in this Tournament. First round, SDSU was a favorite pick to be the First Round upset against Charleston. Second round, SDSU was supposed to lose to Furman. Third Round, of course Alabama was going to crush SDSU. Fourth round, Creighton was from the big, bad Big East Fifth round, FAU was going to run all over SDSU because its offense couldn't be stopped. C'mon CBS, let's make this a perfect tournament picking against SDSU.

As an Aztec fan I think Gary Parrish has some good basketball insights at times, but I haven't forgotten the damage he did to our program in 2015.

@@ryansuter4424 Long story short he published an article about an NCAA investigation into SDSU basketball in 2015 that turned out to be routine and much ado about nothing. SDSU did nothing wrong and NCAA came out and said so, but Parrish made it sound really bad in his article and that cost us some recruits. He knows Aztec fans don't like him.

Bigtime UConn fan but if SDSU find a way to force turnovers, rebound well, and consistently make contested shots, they have a great chance. High ball pressure defense and forced turnovers were a big part of UConn's struggles in the Big East, but they've done well against that strategy in the tournament. SDSU defense should be able to give them problems, but we'll see if it's up to the challenge!

SDSU guy here. Didn’t go there but born and raised here in SD. No doubt UCONN is the prohibitive favorite. They have been the best team in this tournament. I certainly root for the Aztecs BUT I am a realist. I do think SDSU will play well but I see them being defeated by a superior UCONN team. I hope I am wrong!

This has to be tough on Parrish. He has talked so much trash against SDSU over the years, always disrespecting the program, and now he has to talk about them in the championship game. Eat crow Gary… enjoy that

SDSU will take it, UConn has not played a defense like SDSU all season and had an easy road to the final. They are bad in close games, SDSU will show up 🔴⚫️🏆

Is Parrish trying to atone for killing an Aztec recruiting class with his false allegations? He said some nice things about SDSU Also, one team hit 71 vs SDSU and lost other than FAU. That was New Mexico when Butler hit a three at the buzzer with the Aztecs down 71-70 The lesson is don't let Butler have the ball when you're up 71-70 in the waning seconds

SDSU Alumnus here, quoting Rick Moranis from Little Giants: "Even if those (Huskies) are better than you, even if they beat you 99 times out of 100, thay still leaves one time."

Before saying a team has had a bad/off night you need to look at how tight the opposing defense was and how tired they looked at The end of each half. If a team misses many more open shots than usual than you can say they had a bad/off night. If a team misses many more shots than usual and they had less open shots that night than usual then the other team had a good defensive night.

My biggest concern is the short tie around after an exhausting come from behind win. 2nd day is usually the worst. U Conn has cruised through the tournament because they are playing the best basketball right now. If the Aztecs can out rebound and have Bradley, Trammel and Parish all making buckets instead of just one of them, they have a chance. No droughts. Hope it’s a good game. (I was at the 2011 game with the Kemba flop. 🙂 That game is still on my mind. Some retribution would be nice!

UCONN 77 - 62. Props to SD STATE for amazing comeback yesterday, but the Huskies are simply too deep for any team to handle right now. Two very good big men and consistently reliable guard play wins championships. Notice every time a team makes a run at them they turn it up a notch ? Miami was playing very well but ran into a better team yesterday. I won my buddies bracket pool $100 this year simply because I had these two playing each other in the finals. Out of 40 contestants NO ONE has the actual winner picked ! I filled out 3 sheets with the winner being Virginia, (major choke) Arizona ( choked again !) and Kansas (I believe it really hurt without Self on the bench). This was our lowest point total in over 30 years of the contest. 😮

I will be honest. I have not been able to watch any SDSU basketball outside of highlights. My take away is simply this. This is exactly like growing up in San Diego. Beautiful city but not a "sports" town. We lose the Chargers, the Padres haven't been good outside of last year and we have always been looked at as an after thought. All I can say is this team is special and I genuinely believe we will shock a lot of "experts" and win. Keep in mind I grew up in San Diego and am a lifelong Padres fan as well as a SDSU fan. So I say let the underestimate us because I think we will shock a lot of people and be cutting down those nets. Regardless of the outcome though I am proud of this team and proud of my city. Go Aztecs and Padres and LA can have the Chargers. Let's bring home a much needed championship.

Born and Raised in Chula Vista Area. Went to school on the east coast, Naval Academy Graduate. I remembered hearing how underestimated and even to a degree disrespected west coast ball was and I think to a degree still is. The only way West Coast can get its respect is for the Aztecs to show up and show out. I do think UCONN will win unfortunately and I HOPE I am wrong. It would be great to finally have a championship here! GO AZTECS!

@William Walton I grew up in La Mesa and now live in Texas and have for close to two years. Outside of another short stint in Colorado, i have lived in San Diego. I know that we have never been taken seriously, and sadly, even if we win, we still won't. That is why I think we will win. When the Padres beat the dodgers last year, thighs changed, and we became special. I think the same thing will happen Monday night. I truly do. I agree UCONN should win and maybe still will, but something is different about this city and I think we will have to be put more on notice Monday night.

@Wilt Chamberlain is the GOAT I agree completely. I would argue that even getting to the championship game in basketball is harder than getting to a Super Bowl. Granted, getting to a Super Bowl is still difficult, but in the past decade, there hasn't been much parody in football as opposed to in basketball. That's why it is called March Maddness because, as of late, the top team in the nation is not cutting down the nets( with Kansas being the acception).
