Great Video! Especially for a beginner Tuna guy like myself. Got up enough courage to make 1 trip this season on my new to me Grady (which I bought just so I could make a run far enough for Tuna here on Long Island) . I got skunked but it was a great learning experience. Gonna spend the winter acquiring more tackle that I can use for next season. Hoping for better luck and learning from guys like you sharing your knowledge. Thank you for that!

how does the 30-80 calstar grafighter rods compare to your baby boomer. im looking to use it exactly like you do. and i dont see the baby boomer around anymore

It should be very comparable. These are pretty short, 5’6” I believe. Usually see the grafighters over 6’ but not 100% sure on that.

you guys really should be cooling down the fish before putting it on ice put the boat in gear and let it swim following the boat makes a huge difference in quality

What knots were you using on your connections?

Uni or palomar knots on anything 80 lb and under, typically crimp anything 100 and up.

Can you show how you rigged up your squid for the blue fin?

I ran a 6/0 circle hook through the mantle about an inch back from the tip. So the end of the squid opposite the tentacles. You want to go through the harder cartilage area so the hook holds.

Jersey Coast Charters, Shorecatch, Waterman Charters are all top notch outfits. Shorecatch are usually booked up in peak season.

schools are good in jersey, but getting tuna in shore like this is rare. If it does happen it will usually be for only a few weeks period of time. Most of the time we are running 50 out to 19 fathoms when they are on the midshore humps, or 80-100 miles when they are in the canyon.

Yep what he said, schools are good but not a common occurance to get fish inshore like this. Better inshore bite in Massachusetts.
