We mostly have the same predictions, but I'm impressed you actually went with "The Whale" for Makeup and Hairstyling... I gave up on stats, and predicted Elvis, even though I went with Fraser for Actor. It's probably a mistake. But WHATEVER. It's going to be a fun ceremony to watch, so many unknowns this time around.

What Stephanie Hsu did in that film not only made her my choice to win (which she wont) but I feel it's one of the most amazing acting performances I've ever seen. How can you say anyone can act with more range? With the possible acceptation of Michelle Yeoh for the a similar range in the same movie. Multi language, multi personality... varying degrees of broken and fluent english... simply amazing.

I thought Babylon was by far the best movie experiences of last year. I wasn't even expecting to like it. It's really hard for me to remember movies after I watch them. I will never forget Babylon. Especially that rattlesnake scene

Regarding the Best Actor race between Brendan Fraser & Austin Butler and the Makeup catagory: 2018 Oscars: Darkest Hour won for Best Makeup & Gary Oldman won for Best Actor 2019 Oscars: Vice won for Best Makeup but Christian Bale lost Best Actor to Rami Malek Definitely a tossup for sure!

I'm hoping that Everything Everywhere will nab the best picture, and that Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, will get the Best Animated Film awards. They're the strongest contenders for those categories, in my opinion.

@@igruk93 nah, Banshees was nearly In Bruges Level, it was so freakin good, a movie that examines the reason why we are here! Although I love EEAAO, I think the Direction was better than the screenplay. Three Billboards lost Screenplay because: 1. McDonagh was snubbed for Directing Three Billboards 2. Three Billboards was a movie that nearly divided audience opinions. Banshees is not dividing at all.

My Thoughts: Agree on Sound, Production Design, Song, Score, Costume Design, Cinematography, Original & Adapted, Animated Feature, Supporting Actor, Actress, and Picture Makeup/Hairstyling - Elvis Editing - I'm feeling an upset here, I'm weirdly feeling Elvis, although Everything Everywhere is a close second for sure. Documentary - All the Beauty & the Bloodshed Supporting Actress - Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere), I feel like she's just too central to this and there's probably gonna be ALOT of love for the film. The Oscars don't feel like they're at the level to give a non-technical award for a Marvel movie. Actor - Austin Butler, I have a very hard time seeing this being Fraser at the moment. Director - Steven Spielberg, I kinda feel like Spielberg is too much in the spotlight, though the Daniels are nipping hard.

I am quoting a previous poster because it is summed up so accurately. A poster said...."Brendan Fraser strapped on a fat suit an emoted. Austin Butler worked for two years perfecting a nuanced role which involved learn to sing dance move speak like a legend while still adding humanity and not coming off like an impersonator. No matter who wins, Butler deserves it more". Never have I seen an actor work so hard, 24/7 to try and get the essence of a very complicated, complex and talented man. Elvis didn't move his hands like ordinary men. It was different. Elvis laughed from deep inside. Austin had to learn a man and all he encompassed through three decades. Three different men, as Elvis changed from the 50's, 60's' ad 70's. It was the feat of a century to be able to pull all of that off. It has been tried since 1978. Austin and Baz did it. Austin, without a single doubt, deserves this award.

I was seeing the noms and wins for The Whale and the critics and guilds have been giving some picture and ad. screenplay noms at many of them... Maybe they went out of room with AQOTWF with Netflix pushing; remember it got a Producers Guild nom. Ironically Fraser has been losing to COLIN FARRELL more instead of Austin... What a strange year

I had tried to watch this movie twice before in the last year. But couldn't finish it because of its boredom indu inducing plot. Now that I endured thru the movie, my impression doesn't change. This movie might even win the best film at Oscars, still for me it is just an unenjoyable movie.

I respect all nominees, all of them deserve it because they put effort and hard work on the movie. I will happy for them whoever win, I won't throw out or feel like vomiting, this type of disrespectful and insulting attitude toward the winner eventhough may not my first choice.

i know there's a "Snowball''s in Hell" cance of this happening, but it would be crazy awesome if Stephanie HSU picked up the Oscar after three of the other nominiess completely split the other major awards between them. I would be jumping up and down with giddy excitement .

I disagree with you on supporting actress because I think that Angela Bassett has a really good chance of winning the Oscar. Don't underestimate Angela Bassett for the win. Jamie Lee Curtis winning might not aged well in the long run.
