I love your colour scheme and the natural flow of your system. Your voice is so soothing I had to make sure I was moving so I didn’t fall asleep (ppl have said this on occasion of me, as well)- 😊. Thank you for sharing your planner items with us as well as the nostalgia of all their history. Mel

The fads I bought into while swimming in the planner community are too numerous to remember. Pouches! Pens! Backpacks! Paper! TNs! Inserts! Art supplies!

I agree that everyone should just pick up a journal and pen and just be able to write. No need to worry about what paper youre using or what supplies youre using. Just doing it. also going to be adding those retractable gelly roll pens to my wishlist haha. Great video. Kept me company while I was journaling this morning.

I had no idea Gelly Roll retractable pens existed - how cool! I'm inspired to destash some things next year as well because I feel like I have a better understanding of what I enjoy. Thanks for sharing what has been working well for you.

The gelly roll clicker pens are something new. It made me want to pull out my gelly rolls from my stash, and I'm going to use them for awhile. Thanks for watching.

Hello John! I feel like you are not alone downsizing this year, i did too... my printer died so i have to buy another one. I am staying with the same system i had last year: Planner: Standard Rings (Monthlys i did by hand, weeklys/dailys in a bujo style with letter coding, and post it notes), Hobbys: Standard Tn, Catharsis: A6 notebook that stays at home, EDC: Passeport Tn in the bag. I will maybe invest in some inks and a pouch this year and that's it. I love that you gave some of your things to an artist, things are so expensive nowadays... that leather from Foxy Fix seems so buttery, very nice quality! I enjoyed that. I went with a Weeks this year. And not much else. I had a lot of medical going on this year. I had some skinny washing/masking tape I wanted to use. So I put one little strip on the notes page and other than that no stickers. Just pens an highlighters. And I am going to continue it next year, though I will be adding back my TC weeks for memory, because I really missed doing that this year. And I'll do a few other things too. But mostly those.

Oh wow, finally another guy planner/journal nerd! You’re the 2nd person I found. I’m using a TAN this & next year, plus the same 3 notebooks for more specific stuff (2 A5s, one A6). This year i jumped back into the planning & writing scene after 5 years or so, so lotsa exploring which is fine but I don’t like hopping too much. I really do love the TAN, but sometimes I look at traveler’s notebooks as I love them & the standard size. But the inserts are expensive for how many pages you get, way too thin for me. I like doing a page almost every day and like keeping everything in one (or two at most) notebook.

Thanks for that mention of tomeo paper. I only lasted a month (which was the December before my Weeks 2023 even started) because I didn’t want to have to blot and wait for the ink to dry as well. I like the idea of it but not the actual paper 🤣

I've tried and tried with Tomoe River paper. I love the idea, thin and light, but it just doesn't work for me. So I'm using 24-26 pound whitehp copy paper.

I think people who love TRP love it *because* it lets them use their pens. The value is in the way it shows off the ink and doesn't bleed or feather. So, if you don't have that special pen and ink combo going on, if you're not using it for watercolour and if you'd rather use a gel or ballpoint or fineliner... there's no reason to use TRP.

I sometimes use my fountain pens and a variety of inks. I used to use it for watercolor and journaling. I’m preferring watercolor paper for my watercolor and mixed media.

do you have a love hate relationship with Midori/Traveler's Company - you seem to have them and you seem to never use them :) ...it's all good; I was just curious. I like what you are using now

I do. I love them, their leather, their look. But I have a hard time fitting all that I need in them. They are just about 1/2 inch too narrow.
