We did a similar thing. I had a 22 F250 Lariat with the 6.7. We ordered a 23 F350 Lariat with all the options Dually with the 7.3 and 4.30 axle. It came in June and that morning we dropped off our camper at the dealer for warranty with the F250, and Ive been excited since, to try the new F350. We decided to go with the 7.3, just because $13K more was a lot to swallow when it was already $80K. I'm retired and my wife works from home, so we don't need it daily. We also have 2 other vehicles for around town. We have about 1300 miles on it now and I really love it. We avg 11.5 MPG, but don't drive it much and we are used to that MPG with other vehicles. We went with Dually for the simple fact that we travel from TX-IA-NC-FL-IN-VA about twice a year, travel around TX, and we were finding that our 37ft 10K 12ft High bumper pull camper was too much for a 1500 and still gave the F250 a run for its money, so the choice was pretty clear, F350 Dually for stability. We may go 5th wheel one day. We also have plans of maybe bringing our Can am Spyder in the bed of the truck, so payload was also a high priority to us. Im happy with the 7.3L so far, and it will be cheaper to maintain and no threat of the emissions system failing and costing me $$$! Also if I want more power down the road, they make a turbo charger kit for like $8K I think, and it puts the numbers in the 700s, which is still cheaper, but still not diesel power territory, but still better!

I haul a 35ft camper, an also a 25ft 5th wheel which I load with about 15K of tractor and cutters. Never had an issue with my 2017 or 2019 Lariat 6.7's towing them. Even when we go to CO. Not sure why you say a 37F gave you 37Ft 10K trailer gave it a run for it's money. The truck can do 20,000K all day long. Sorry, just found your comment interesting.

It was a SRW. The DRW makes it much more stable towing the 37ft camper. Mine is also a bumper pull. Is your 35ft camper bumper or 5th wheel? I’m also manly in TX pulling, so on windy days or driving the Hwy going 65-70, and having tractor trailers pass by can make the 250 a little uneasy. Is it unbearable and uncomfortable? No. 250 still holds it own, but I can tell you there was a few times the electronic trailer sway would kick on. I haven’t had it happen yet on the 350 DRW.

I have a 2020 F250 7.3. Non tremor w 3:55 gears. I have had diesels from all 3 since 1996. I still tow the same bobcat and boat that weighs 13 - 17k pounds. Love the truck and although there will always be compromises the 12k I save as well as costly maintenance and fuel is a no brainer for me and I tow a few times a week. I love this truck so much I ended up putting on a Carli 3" level suspension lift with 37's on a 9" wheel so it would look more like stock and not really stick out past the wheel well and kick up rocks. I even added the Tremor front valance, wheel lip molding and running boards and it looks like a Tremor on steroids. True dual exhaust and a 5 star tune to adjust the speedo rounds out this truck.

I'm guessing the Tremor package did you in. I have a '22 F350 with the 7.3L and 4.30 axle pulling a 5th wheel camper that has a GVWR of 14k. I live in NH so not the flat lands at all, but on relatively level ground I can easily stay in 10th gear which keeps the engine speed right around 2k RPM at 65MPH. Towing I have seen as low as 7MPG hand calculated on a tank, and as high as 8.5 MPG again hand calculated on actual fuel/mileage. I also tend to try and cruise around 65MPH.

Hopefully the Ford CEO doesn’t ruin this company with all the EV crap. My dad retired from Ford and has always been a great company. It took me 4 months to take delivery of this special order truck. Lol, the lightning may be a flop in that it's not ready for towing right now. But, for people who just need a truck as a daily driver, an EV makes a lot of sense already. Fast forward 10 years and gas/diesel trucks will no longer make sense. You'll have battery powered trucks that are the same price as gas capable of towing trailers 400 miles or more on a single charge and charging stations everywhere that can recharge the batteries in 10 minutes. This is what's coming eventually. The CEO of Ford is being smart in not ignoring the inevitable future, which will be all EV. And for the record, I own a 2023 F-250 with the 7.3L and we tow an Airstream. I would have bought a lightning if it could tow at least 300 miles on a single charge, but it's just not there yet.

I went from a 2018 Super Duty diesel to a 2020 Super Duty Tremor with a 7.3, 4.30 gears to pull my 12k fifth wheel. I was never sorry for buying the 7.3. It would pull my 5th wheel up 6-7 degree grades with zero problem exceeding the speed limit. I will be picking my 2024 Super Duty with a 7.3, 4.30 gears in a couple of weeks. I would limit the 7.3 to under 15k to have reasonable performance.

My good buddy has been a diesel fanboy all his life. His biggest tow is 13-15k and he tows it less than 150 miles. His second to last truck sucked up some BAD diesel fuel and ruined the engine and left him on side of road. I had to pick him up in my F-350 with the 7.3 and a big car hauler trailer. He sold that truck and bought a used F250 with 65,000 miles on the diesel. He just lost that engine at 302,000 miles. Shop said it was a CP4 (?) failure and would cost about $12k to repair. He paid $50k for that used truck. He sold it for $10k. So it cost him $40k to drive it for 3 years (he does a ton of driving). In that same time period he has seen my F350 Godzilla only suck an oil change every 5k miles at a cost of like $45 each time. His oil changes were running at least double that. He was having to put in DEF too. I love my 7.3. My truck is a crew cab long bed. She’s a big white beluga whale! She slides down the highway so easily with that engine. A pure pleasure to drive. My heaviest haul was 25,000 pounds for 125 miles hauling a kid’s brand new offshore fishing boat on a triple axle trailer. He has a diesel but we both wanted to see how my 7.3 handled it. I got like 7mpg but we both felt like there was plenty of power to make that pull. The 7.3 gas Godzilla is no joke. It has its sweet spot. It will never be a diesel but she’s all I will ever need.

Looking to trade my 2020 7.3 with 3.55 for a tremor with the 4.30’s. I recently upgraded from a TT to a 5th wheel 13k dry so about 15k with all my gear. Only pulled it once and I didn’t weigh it. According to my math though, I’m floating around my max GVWR and GCWR. 65-70 mph through moderate hill in central texas was getting 7-8mph. I was very impressed. I know the truck can handle it, but would like the extra cushion. Just curious if you hooked up before the bags were installed and if so how was the sag?

A question and a comment. Question 1 being, your camper is huge, should you not have opted for a 1 ton? Not necessarily diesel, but just a 1 ton srw or dually. And two my 18 350 srw on 35s got about 7mpg with my 37 footer. That 10 speed makes a huge difference!! Nice to see your mileage was pretty decent given how big the trailer is.

I have the wolf pack 365/16.. I have had many Toy haulers from Voltage to cyclone.. I have learned a few things in 20 years towing.. The Wolfpack and Grand design both have a 16 ft garage and double axle. Both were options but grand design was a little to much money $ for us and the amount we use it. This RV is legal to pull with 3/4 ton as it has a 17,200 gvw and only weighs 12k empty. The dual axle creates less issues for turning sharp and suspension issues. It does not have all the fancy auto level systems but is prepped for them. The Wolfpack can be found for under 70k if you shop it.. For all that it offers is a bargain.. Hope some of this helps.. If I didn’t need such a large garage they make a 12 and 14ft I believe.. Lots of videos on this rv on my channel from Lithium, Inverters, Solar, and generator upgrade.

I love the commenters who seem to not watch the video. 😂 Anyways, great video. This is the exact truck I want and this video was very helpful determining it will more than meet my needs. I don’t tow heavy frequently enough to justify the 6.7 (HO in the Tremor), regardless of how awesome 1200 lbs-ft of torque would be. The only thing I wonder is if I should step up to the F-350 for the extra payload. Am I hearing/reading correctly that the rear ends of the two are identical except for the payload sticker? Same rear leaves and axle should mean they will ride the same when empty, or will the F-350 still ride stiffer then the F-250 for some reason? I know this is typically the case for the 3/4 vs 1 tons, but it seems not to be for the Tremors. 🤔
@RockyRohde
@RockyRohde 10 ай бұрын
You are correct.. High capacity and tremor will ride the same as f-350.. A f350 FX4 will actually ride better in my opinion as it has a softer front spring. The tremor does ride more stiff than the non tremor. I prefer FX4 over the tremor especially with the lighter gas motor. I find the 7.3 with tremor to be a little stiff and bouncy in the front end.. Just my opinion. I would get the f350 payload sticker so you don’t have to worry about being legal.. It’s about 700 to 1000 more payload..

@jamesiversen 10 ай бұрын
@@RockyRohde Thanks for confirming. I'm not sure why anyone would choose to factory order a F-250 Tremor in that case, aside from a $3,000 CAD ($2,200 USD) lower MSRP. Now, if someone found one sitting on a lot that they could get a deal on (such as your case), that's another story. But it's not like I can test drive both an F-250 Tremor next to an F-350 Tremor to see for myself. I appreciate your note about the FX4, but there are other reasons I want a Tremor. I'm used to a bumpy ride as I own an older 2-door Jeep and a slightly lowered sports coupe with tight suspension, but if I can avoid having my teeth rattled out from a new truck, I'd prefer that. My only experience with "heavy duty" trucks is with older models and traditionally (as most know) 1-tons will ride much stiffer than 3/4-tons. While I don't think I *need* more than the ~3k payload an F-250 would give me, paying a little more for the door jamb sticker would be worth it, all else being equal. I'm sure there will be a few occasions where I'd wish I had the extra peace of mind if I ever got pulled over or in an accident while loaded up. Yes, $3k CAD is a lot of money, but when you're talking about a ~$110k CAD (~$80k USD) truck already, it seems like a no-brainer to me. Thanks again for the information and replying to my question. You seem to have found a good dealer, which is great; I haven't found one locally who actually know these trucks and is willing to provide this kind of unbiased advice, so I appreciate owners like yourself who take the time to share their real world experiences.

You never got your truck vin’ed because your dealer had NO allocations AND/OR put you at a priority code of 19 OR 99. When I ordered my 2023 Super Duty F350 Lariat Tremor on February 6, 2023 I made sure my dealer had enough allocations and I insisted that my priority code was NOT 19 or 99. They gave me a priority code of 14 and I made them give me a copy of the “DORA” which is the proof of their submission of my order to Ford. As of today August 27, 2023 my truck is on a rail car headed to me. These dealers don’t give a hoot and will either lie just to get you frustrated over time so you buy their inventory or once your truck comes in they will sell it from under you without you even knowing at a higher price to one of their regular customers that will gladly pay more money. Good luck with that 2024.

Just ordered a 24 7.3 Tremor/Lariat. My heaviest current trailer is a bumper pull 16’ dump trailer that tops out at 14k lbs. I’d like to be able to pull that without a worry. I also love the look of the Tremor from the factory. I am not a fan of after market anything especially when it comes to changing the engineering from the factory. With the tremor package, I won’t ever have to change a thing except maybe slightly larger tires. I never even considered a diesel because I simply don’t need it. The initial cost, maintenance cost, paying more for diesel, and whatever else that involves diesels. The gasser will be just fine for me at $2.60/gal here in Texas. Looking forward to getting my new truck!

6mpg on flat ground? Yikes. I pull 17k 13ft 6in toy hauler with f450 and cruise at 65 to 70. Seldom downshifts out of 10 gear. Run 11 to 12 mpg hand calculated from last trip FL to NJ between tanks. Sometimes it’s not about the cost per mile but the driving experience. Gas motors work but def not a replacement for diesel. Alternative yea but….as long you guys are happy. Trying to save 13k up front just to pay for it at the pump and lost resale seems silly. As long you guys are happy. If I didn’t tow I’d certainly look at the 7.3 but not for towing on long RV trips. Nope.

You are going to burn a lot more fuel than a diesel. If your getting a F350 it is to haul and load. So if you are like me, it rarely leaves the driveway with out a trailer. If you get this truck as a daily driver then you have more money than I do. LOL..

Just a warning. People who actually use the motor have massive issues with them. Fleets and commercial haulers get 75k tops. I'd look into unloading it by 50k if you are using it. The ram 6.4l post 2019 is fully forged. Even the wrist pins. It shares a lot with the demon, exhaust valves etc. The cam and everything is set to give you max tq low and hold it. The numbers aren't as impressive but there is a guy who uses those motors in 3500 hotshots. They pull 20k all the time. He's getting 350-450k miles out the motors. He has 5 of them in his fleet. You won't kill that motor. The rear and drve shaft are the same as the diesels from 2500 and 3500. The 8sp was broke in on the high hp scats and demon at the drag strips before they put it in the trucks. A 22 megacab 2500 will sticker tow 18,900 with 4.10 rears. Payload is around 3 with a mega, 3200 crew. Doesn't matter with a camper.

The differential may be the same but the axles themselves are bigger and the axel tubes are thicker and stronger in the F350 than the F250. Straight out of the 2023 Ford Parts Catalog….sorry for the bad news but an F250 is NO F350, close but no cigar. Also if you tow a lot the cost of the 6.7 will pay for itself really quickly. The 6.7 gets 19 to 21 mpg all day naked and about 10 to 12 towing. So if you keep a truck for awhile it actually cheaper to get the diesel. But it sounds like you had ants in your pants, you knew what you wanted but settled. You will be silently and internally moaning every time you see a 2023 Tremor Diesel because you just didn’t wait.

F250 Tremor has the exact same axle is 350…. High capacity has the same as 350.. zero difference except payload rating sticker on the door.. A 250 non tremor or non high capacity has smaller axle.. I have a 23 platinum ordered day one with priority 10 that has never been scheduled.. I have a 24 F350 Platinum that was ordered day one and we will see what happens.. I picked up a 23 due to the market getting flooded with 22 models and MMR is dropping like a hot rock.. I am good friends with one of the largest wholesaler in the market.. The 22 platinum I was driving was close to 30k miles and will be considered a 2 year old vehicle calendar year… For example a buyer in 24 financing a 22 year model truck might get 60 months at 7-8 percent on a deal.. They would have a better payment on a new 24 vs the 22.. I know Ford will prob not get my 24 limited till prob 24 mid year.. I would much rather trade in a 23 Lariat Ultimate Tremor.. It will have a higher MMR and still offer better financing to a potential buyer.. I traded my 22 even for the 23 and I understand it’s not diesel.. A lot of buyers are moving to gas for lower maintenance, cost, and the price difference in Diesel.. I have a pretty good understanding and purchase a new truck every year and have loyal dealers that understand I am a truck buyer every year.. I won’t be complaining as I know my Limited HO diesel will be built eventually.. Meanwhile I’m driving a nice 23 with no worries.. If the workers go on strike, I’ll still be happy I’m driving my 23.. I ordered a 22 that got moved to a 23 then the 23 got cancelled..

@@dmbworks8094are you pulling stumps out of the ground or a travel trailer?! 4.30 is MORE than enough gear to pull a 5th wheel. There is always a compromise of gearing vs mpg. With the addition of the 10 speed transmission, no need for 4.88 gears in any FORD truck nowadays unless its purely a work truck with a dump bed, crane, bucket, or the like. Balancing get up and go against mpg is a real thing and most people dont need to to be pulling large trailers at 65mph + either as most people would have no idea how to handle a blowout at high speeds. Slowing down will improve the mpg as well as having a 3.73 or 4.30 and be safer. Having a gear any more than a 4.30 is just silly.
