Today my wife and I went to pick up our 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Platinum after being on the wait list for 18 months. We had custom ordered a specific exterior and interior color with 3 back ups just in case, so we were told to do by our sales rep. But behold, we get a phone call saying that the back log is so long that Toyota is just sending whatever they are pumping out. No more custom orders, take it or keep waiting.
We said.....OK! 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Platinum drives exceptionally smooth. Has the enough power to go up the hills with ease.
Overall and happy with our new purchase because we love driving SUVs. We previously owned a 2018 Acura MDX premium and before that a 2009 Nissan Pathfinder SE. These cars kept their resale value and it was so easy to sell because they had very little issues. Compared with the dodge caravan (transmission replaced after 1 year) and the ford 150 (electrical parts keep failing and have to be constantly replaced) work vehicles that I've driven.
2023 Highlander Hybrid Platinum vs 2018 MDX Premium
1. Longer and narrower (more aero dynamic) so handling and turning the corners are much easier and smoother
2. Hybrid range is 750km on full tank (65L) vs 375km
3. 12" touch screen (much better for navigation) vs 7" non touch screen
4. Wireless phone charger and 120V plug vs none
5. Panoramic sunroof vs regular moon roof
6. V4 243 combined hp vs V6 290hp
7. Gaming apps for touch screen vs DVD player for back row passengers
8. 7 seater vs 8 seater
9. Quieter, less fumes and less vibration for Hybrid
10. Auto insurance more expensive by 15% for Hybrid
11. 2nd and 3rd row seating has more leg room for Hybrid (because seats are adjustable)
12. Rubber trunk liner is custom done for better protection in Hybrid
13. Trunk space is similar
14. $72,000 vs $68,000 - prices are in CAD and includes tax

I just ordered exactly the same trim and color;) I have wait 7-8 months to be delivered, just to let you know I am in Europe. In is being imported here by Toyota since 2020 but in very moderate number. Greetings from Poland!

No I didn't. Couldn't justify paying extra when toyota has the best rating for workmanship.

It was one of the factory colors we got to choose when we pre ordered it. I think it is called Midnight Blue.

Awsome but it took 18 mos. I order it exactly same as yours platinum white hybrid last Aug. so we can get it end of this year or early next year.

Hope you get it sooner than next year! Most likely your dealer will call you up and say "we got a platinum in but it's not the color you chose, do you want it?" That's what happend to me, I just accepted whatever they had.

3rd row is comfortable. You can adjust the seat rest back so you have more head room. Plus the middle seats can move forward giving you more leg room.

@Alex A depends on how patient you are I guess. I live in the city so anything bigger than the highlander isn't practical. Hard to park.

I just got a highlander platinum and my 6 year old prefers the 3rd row. I’m 5’6” and I had leg room with the 2nd row pushed up just a bit. It’s surprisingly comfortable if you are under 6 feet tall.

Does your drivers side or passenger mirror shake (just the mirror not housing) when you hit a bump in the road or on rough surfaces while driving?

I haven't noticed this in my Highlander. I've been putting in 100km a day driving on all roads and parking lots with speed bumps. Don't think it's normal for any car if the mirror shakes.

On the dash it shows 17.3 litres per km is that correct?

@@familyguyathome Sorry I meant for 100km. At kzfaq.info/get/bejne/b7iipb2EtMzGoH0.html you said that you get 6.7L per 100km but the dash says 17.3L per 100km. Was a bit confused.

@geoffreyphilip in the beginning when you first get the vehicle, it will show a higher number. After a few days it will adjust according to the way you drive.
