I own a 2021 Rav4. For me it’s pretty big inside. And it drives like a limousine ( smooth and extremely comfortable). The engine is very quiet and the AC is ice cold. I’m looking forward to driving it to 400,000 miles because that’s what Toyota is built for: longevity! I bought it new last year.

I have been comparing these two suv's for a long time ( over 20 years), and each time I always chose the Honda Cr-V. Even though some of the early Rav4s have great handling and acceleration, the Honda was always roomier and better equipped with a picnic tablle and extra room in the trunk. Plus, the seat configuration was better. Honda CR-V's are roomier, refined, and more comfortable than the Toyota Rav4.

I have owned 5 new Crv's in the past 9 years and decided to give the 2023 Rav4 a try. They both have their pros and cons. 1. Mpg about the same Rav4 no better which I thought it would be better 2. Ride quality and handling Rav4 slight edge. 3.Transmission; I like cvt as it is smoother for me and I only put about 10,000 miles before trading 4. seat comfort will have to go to the Rav4 - much better 5. wind noise about the same, really bad on both 6. For looks I like both 8. I like the instrument cluster better on the Crv as it much easier to see in the daylight 9. Never had any problems with the Crvs only time will tell on the Rav4 10. Chose the Rav4 this time as it was a better deal , all cars were non hybrid.

It's good to hear someone with an unbiased opinion on both vehicles. I was interested in knowing what new features were added to both cars since last year I was looking at both models in the Hybrid version and eventually I purchased a 2022 CRV Hybrid (Touring trim) AWD. Both cars do have their pros and cons but, my reasons for choosing the Honda over the Toyota boiled down to just a few differences, the main one at the time was the availability of the purchase. Toyota's factory in Kentucky was hit with a Tornado and put production behind. Another reason I liked the CRV over the RAV4 was the electronic seat adjustments on both sides for front passengers. Toyota's high end models only have electronic seat adjustment on the driver's side for the 2022 model. I often travel with one or more people in my car and it's a nice feature when we take turns driving. The real leather feels nice too compared to the fake leather Toyota uses, just my opinion. Finally, the final price was cheaper by about 1K USD for the Honda than the Toyota where I looked near my home in the PNW. Either brand is good, but I love my Honda Hybrid!

Great video! I can tell it took some time, this provides a lot of good info about the cars. Couldn't help but notice the water tank that says Plano Tx in the back. That just happens to be where I'll be purchasing one of the two vehicles. After watching this video, I am leaning towards the CRV. Although it's not in this video, I am still eyeing the Kia Sportage as well.

Both cars are so close in design, value, and functionality that it makes it sooooo hard to decide! The prices are close but I've never owned a Toyota personally. I have always liked the "beefy off-road trims" of the Tacoma or 4Runner but out of the 4 cars I've owned have been Honda's ('99 Honda Civic, '06 Honda Ridgeline & '07 Acura TL). My favorite was the Ridgeline but unfortunately, it was totaled just about 3 years of ownership. That thing saved my life with all of Honda's top-notch safety features! After which, I made the decision to go with something with more speed and luxury than the versatility of the Ridgeline and went with the Acura TL. Sadly, it now has cosmetic issues and something going on with the transmission that I do not want to put the money in to fix. So, I'm in need of a new car and want something better for the environment and my pocket. Thus, the interest in these vehicles. I've become an avid camper to spend time with my teenage son away from technology and want to able to go where my Ridgeline could go (or close to it) without the outrageous price tags dues to our current economy (Everything is just too damn expensive lol). Anyway, I just can't decide! LOL Regardless, thank you for the continued helpful videos.

I think you should also test drive the Mazda CX-30, CX-5; the Subaru Crosstrek and Forester, and the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage. I think the Mazdas win for steering and speakers. Also consider the slow Kia Niro hybrid, the all-electric Niro does 0 to 60 mph in about 7 seconds. For big savings, an older Prius V is reliable and not as crazy looking as the other Priuses platypuses.

Just came from the dealers here in Ventura County CA (December 2023) - Hondas have a 5k dealer markup, Toyotas didn’t! Ended up with a NEW 2023 RAV4 XLE with Convenience & Weather packages for 32k out the door. The RAV4 felt more planted to me while the CRV felt too jumpy, engine not matched to the transmission in my opinion. The drive/steering felt more neutral in the Toyota as well, a better suited car for our family use. Base to base models, the Toyota came with better base options. In addition, the RAV4 had better crash ratings as well. I guess there is a reason the RAV4 is the best selling SUV

Excellent review that seems more objective than any other car review I've seen. I owned a 1988 Toyota Corolla hatchback for 12 years which performed in every way up to its reputation for reliability (I drove it to Alaska and back from California and had it for 5 years in Hawai'i and all I did for maintenance besides oil changes and lubes was to replace the radiator and battery). I bought my first of 3 CRVs over a Toyota only because the there was greater headroom in the CRV than in the RAV-4. I've since had two more CRVs (two in California & one in New Zealand). All have performed flawlessly and, I would agree with the reviewer than CRVs have the edge over RAV-4s (the latter I've driven but never as an owner) in terms of interior design and overrall road handling. Two of the CRVs that I've owned needed door lock motor replacement (one required driver door lock motor replaced twice!) - driver door and rear hatch door and one needed replacement of navigation system. Now in the market to replace my current CRV which has covered 180,000, this review has been very helpful in making my decision for me(!). Too bad I'm in CA so not able to purchase from this Canadian dealership ..... As an afterthought, my present CRV was 12 months old with 5,000miles on the clock when I bought it and it came with a transferable all-inclusive warranty. I'd *highly* recommend this. I paid $50 in transfer fees and reclaimed this cost 500 times over!

I purchased the Honda CRV Sport Touring. I'm a long time Honda fan, this being the fifth I've owned. Never had a quality issue with any of them which has gained our trust. I believe the Honda i-MMD hybrid architecture is superior to all the competitors. It will prove to be more reliable as it doesn't employ a transmission, so less moving parts. It is actually more efficient, though Honda has chosen to offset that efficiency with a larger body for utility and comfort. We tried the Rav 4 but my wife didn't like the fact that it has less room in the cabin. The CRV doesn't have as many bells and whistles as competitors but the drive seems more solid and refined than all I tested. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either as a choice.

When I was looking for a small SUV, I only weighed it down to these two SUVs. For little comfort and nice design especially inside I chose CRV, with the engines I chose RAV4 as VTEC is a bit a hype compared to Toyota’s VVT. I would end up choosing CRV but unfortunately they only have CVT transmission which I don’t think as of this time have a reliable history thus I went to RAV4 with the conventional transmission and I was amazed how quiet the engine and as if it wasn’t running when on park and from park to drive, you almost don’t feel the engagement of th engine to the transmission. Also have an excellent lower torque with a slight push on the gasoline pedal.

In January, I looked at both of these (in Hybrid trim) and would have been happy with either. What decided my choice was availability. At three different dealers, I could have had a RAV4 within a month with a $6K ADM, or within 3 months with $2K ADM (plus a decent trade in), or I could go on a waiting list 510 long for list price! In the end I got a CRV Sport Touring Hybrid within 2 weeks with a $1K ADM. Having had the CRV for a couple of months now, I have to say its a great car. With the ADM, the RAV4 price advantage disappeared, so I have no regrets. BTW, I'm still on that waiting list 🙂

Is CVT good ? The disadvantage of stepless automatic gearboxes, or CVT gearboxes as they are also called, is that they usually do not offer any direct driving sensation. The gearbox acts as a filter between the gas pedal and the engine, which means that driving pleasure suffers.

I would go with the Honda CRV Hybrid. I currently have a 2018 Honda Fit, which I love, and not ready to trade in yet. It is no longer in production and the last car my dad was with me when I bought it. He supported me buying the Honda Fit EX-L, and I bought it on the anniversary of his hiring date with United. He was also a Honda fan and once owned a Honda Pilot, fitting because he was a pilot in the Air Force and Airlines. When I am ready for my next car, it will be the CRV Hybrid. I am wondering why Apple has hooked up with Honda on their plans for an Apple Car, that would be a great pairing. A Honda/Apple CRV Hybrid or even all electric, and I wonder if the infrastructure will be available in this country for Charging stations in more areas. I recognized some buildings and structures in your video, as in the DFW area.

I want to say something about Honda’s CVTs. I owned a an Accord with a CVT before I upgraded to the 2.0 Accord and I found the Honda CVT to be very well performing. I venture to say non car enthusiasts wouldn’t know the difference between a CVT and automatic transmission during normal every day driving. As far as Hondas CVT reliability unless I missed it I have never heard or read anything about Honda CVTs failing at an alarming rate. (unlike Nissan notoriously bad Jatco CVT). In fact my friend drives an 2013 Accord with a CVT at the 250,000 miles on the clock and has never had any reliability issues.

I was also looking at the RAV4 and Mazda CX-5 at that time for comparison, but in the end, I chose the CR-V because it had more interior space and felt more refined. The CX-5 was a close second, but the interior and the cargo space of the Mazda was a little small for me and the controls were a little more complicated when compared to the Honda.

For Honda, the Hybrid is only ~$1400 more and is probably the model to get. Overall, Honda seems to be pushing higher pricing very hard, especially since you often have to pay more than MSRP (especially for Hybrid models). The pricing was a bridge too far for me, so I am purchasing a Subaru instead. Mazdas are also worth a look, but lack fuel efficiency and lack Hybrids powertrains offerings.

These were my two choices when I was looking for my auto, I went for a 4 year old car with around 10,000 miles per year and all the Honda,s I looked at were a couple of thousand £,s more expensive than the Toyota, plus the Honda had more miles per year on them than the RAV4 don’t know why but the Honda drivers seem to put more miles per year on their cars, over here in the UK the diesel engine is preferred than the other engines but that’s all changed now since the RAV4 doesn’t have the diesel engine anymore, so I got the RAV4 as it was a better price and less miles on it, the Honda was my preferred choice but the wallet told me that the RAV4 won, I wouldn’t even consider buying any other brands other than these two

Both looks similar on the outside but RAV4 is so much smaller on the inside be it leg room, head room because of the interior design. If you want roomier suv pay extra and get CRV you will not regret. Also RAV4 doesn’t have the auto locks, beeping BSI but CRV does.

My last 5 cars were Hondas until this year. I bought a 2021 CRV Hybrid. I loved this car until in November 22 my car was stolen. A neighbor caught it on camera. It took 3 minutes from the time they broke my window, climbed in the car and pulled off. I reached out to Honda for help. I asked how is this possible without the key. (My car wasn’t parked directly in front of the house I was staying in and I was 2 hours from my home so it wasn’t someone from my neighborhood). One person said they could have had the key codes from Honda another said that’s not true and they shouldn’t be able to take the car without the key. (Which was clearly incorrect since my car was stolen). I was also told they don’t have tracking on the CRV Hybrid. Without any help from Honda, I could no longer buy a Honda. I now have a Toyota RAV 4 Hybrid. It comes with tracking.

The Honda wins the looks competition, but the non-hybrid engine is a big problem for me. I keep my vehicles for up to 200,000 miles, and that small four-cylinder and turbo will not outlast the Toyota. That said, the hybrid head-to-head other than cost is probably a tie. I've ordered a Toyota RAV4 hybrid at MSRP cost because the dealer's location is much better than the Honda.

I bought a 22 rav4 xle premium a few months ago, pretty decent nothing great, rides pretty rough and it has too many gears, when driving at highway speeds it shifts a lot between 7th and 8th gear which is annoying, needs to be just a 6 speed. Seemed that way to me as well but the CR-V jams a lot of features into the couple trim levels. When you factor in how much it would cost you to get those in the RAV4 it's about a wash. An example is the EX-L comes with heated seats, wireless phone charging and parking sensors to name a few. To get those features on the comparable RAV4 model which is the XLE Premium (with heated seats and power lift gate), you have to add packages that bump it right up to the CR-V price. However, then you have the upgraded audio with those packages so hard to get an exact match to compare but in any event, the prices are close for similarly equipped vehicles.
