Volvo is on a mission to go carbon neutral with a full EV lineup, but for now we have their Recharge PHEV products, 2 EVs, and allll the mild-hybrids you can wish for. What’s new with the 2023 XC60 Recharge? The second generation XC60 has been on the market since 2017 now and has received a mild refresh just recently. @Alllcarnews Spec Sheet: Here we have the 2023 T8 Recharge powertrain, Volvo’s term for their Twin Engine PHEV unit. Powering the front wheels is a 2.0L Turbo 4-cylinder. Powering the rear wheels is an electric motor. There is 0 physical drivetrain connection between the two. Though, combined they make a whopping 455HP with 32miles on EV mode.

So, is the XC60 Recharge a good buy? Well if you REALLY want a PHEV, yes yes it is, especially at its $57k starting price. Downsides? The Google based infotainment system is… buggy. As a Volvo owner, I can truly attest to this. The XC60 also can feel cheaper inside in the base Core trim, Plus and Ultimate are welcome upgrades.
Ride quality in the XC60 is the best of any Volvo though can feel unrefined and harsh over larger bumps. Steering is 100% devoid of any feedback or feel… but that’s fine, it’s a Volvo, not a X3, Macan, or GV70. It’s safe, relatively efficient, and still looks fresh for its age. I would definitely consider one if you are shopping in this segment!

@@AllcarnewsI love the sedan, everybody’s got an SUV. Also according to fueleconomy.gov the sedan is 12 to 15% better on mpg and emissions than the SUV with the same Recharge drivetrain . . . Less weight, better aerodynamics.

I have a deposit down on a 2024 XC60 Recharge, Dark Theme, Ultimate Package. It's supposed to arrive in July or August. They couldn't reserve a '23 because production has switched over to 2024. I have yet to test drive one because you can't find them.

@@Allcarnews oh no, it's gone form bad to worst!! I just ordered the car today! Oh dear 😲 we are going have to petition to get Volvo to listen that they are going thr wrong way. It's funny my Audi A5 form 2017 use to have a customizable button on the steering that allow the driver to change mode. My 2023 XC60 T6 model doesn't have it!!!! What's is going with car OEM!!!

Yes, the power is great, but what else is important? Since Nov, ‘22 I have 12,500 miles on an S60 recharge, 2023. The car has burned 119 gallons of gas, 104 miles per gallon. It costs ~$1.25 a day to charge. Compared to what? My last ICE was a four-cylinder BMW. It got just under 30 miles per gallon for the six years I owned it. these two cars both were driven the same way on the same roads.

Which one gives more fun from driving - this one or mazda cx5? Which one you find a better car overall?

Not a CX-5 competitor at all. the XC60 competes with a X3 and GLC. I would still get a CX-5 or CX/50 thought personally 😅 cheaper price, pretty much all the features, and the CX-50 and 5 both drive way better. Keep in mind this is a $60k+ XC60 Plug in hybrid with 455HP though. It’s-a good PHEV, but lots of reliability issues.
