I always feel like flipping a battle into a creature is just overcommitting into a board wipe while also slowing down the damage. Double dipping into failure if they wrath. Maybe for the next set of battles they could have the flip side have etb effects so its not such a wash.

I’d say decks that do direct damage probably get more mileage out of battles, but I can see why you’d be conserved with over committing to a board, with so much interaction now

Honestly, I think Sunfall is the most powerful card in Standard. The first time I read it I thought it was really good, but after seeing it play I think it's busted. I'm pretty sure a lot of cards end up being evaluated by how good it's against a sunfall. Why is Deep-Cavern Bat, a low floor high ceiling card, the second most played creature in standard? Because it delays Sunfall.

I've always heard putting a card on top of the deck as 'Stacking' the card, and shuffling the card back is 'Spinning' it.

I would love to see MH3 power creep old decks back in combined with a few unbannings. I would love to see gifts Storm back and June and Birthing Pod and Twin. That would be awesome.

I vote that we call putting a card on top of an opponents library from play [[Warrant]]. What an under rated card [[Warrent // Warden]] is. Forget the warden side, 2-mana undraw for either white or blue is great. You aren't even punished when you have to use it on a small threat, because it wrecks their next draw.

Also I agree with Crim. Nykthos NEEDS TO GO for the health of Pioneer. As long as (whats left of) WOTC refuses to make good land destruction, then cards like Nykthos should be banned and STAY banned so regular players dont have to look at their green opponent playing a Llanowar elf like they just committed a war crime.

@lordxmugen mono green is such a non-issue at this point. There are significantly better decks and banning nykthos would make mono-green go from fair to unplayable

@@DoctorJango Wow thats a total lie in bad faith if I've ever heard one. There is NOTHING FAIR about Nykthos in Pioneer. You know why? Because there is NOTHING in Pioneer that can react to a COMBO LAND BECAUSE it was long decided that lands are sacrosanct to the game, so most cards are not allowed to attack a land for value. Its why Nykthos is as broken as it is Pioneer. There is literally NO CARD in Pioneer that trades favorably to it (nor should there be because of the "land problem" inherent to MTG itself) and therefore there is NO REASON it should exist in Pioneer. If you have something better than "These really bad enchantments/artifacts slow it down forcing me the Mono G player to use my Boseiju THAT I ALREADY DREW/TOPDECKED to counter it." I would LOVE to hear it.

Dreadknight is better at grinding out a game. It draws cards earlier, you can break up the cost, it blocks from the yard and it takes a removal spell to get it off the board. Underdog is better at closing out the game, something that control struggles with more. It comes from the yard with haste, draws a card each time, and hides away from Sunfall and sorcery speed removal. Based on Crim’s playstyle, of course Underdog is more problematic for Crim.

I agree with Richard here, the constant bombardment of cards is not good, for players, collectors, even designers and testers. It's driven by profits and thats what happens when a big corp is desperate to squeeze money out of its only profiting business. But we all know that MH3 is going to be a blast :P

The main standard sets have been so fascinating to see people’s opinions of them. I thought I was going to be in the minority in not caring at all about All will be One/March of the machines but apparently there really is a more stark split amongst the playerbase and it even leans more towards Eldraine/ixalan over the actual WotS level big finale sets of the Phyrexia sets and I’m not sure what to make of it other than maybe recency bias?

My dream would be if we cut down on alternate arts with two exceptions one in masters/extra sets that's fine and each set having their one unique alt art so at most there's three variants.

I love Battles. I think they are more relevant than you give them credit. Biggest problem is flipping them. We need more Render Inert and they have to be instant, then I think battles can have more meta relevance.

Pretty soon, we'll be able to play Colorless cards for free by pitching any land from our hand. They will have the abilities of all colors and be among the most powerful cards ever printed. They will break the game ans all formats. They will be banned. Wizards will rectify the problem by making cards that are limited to a print run of 100, but win the game on the spot, when played. The card itself will be free, and it will be immune to any interaction. Bans will come in once again to save the day. From there, we will just see WotC develop an app that links directly to our bank accounts. The player willing to spend the most money on the spot wins the game. Hasbro mission complete.

My wish is that modern horizons 3 rotates out Moho 1&2. Incentivizing pure modern decks that don’t rotate and creating entirely new archetypes.

Literally defeats the purpose of the Modern format. If I'm reading what you typed correctly, then you're trying to make MH sets effectively work like Standard sets and get pushed out of Modern. No, just no. Again, this literally goes against what Modern as a format is. You want to play MH3 by itself? Then draft it, or find some people willing to play MH3 Block Constructed with you.

Though I know it won't happen, in 2024 I'd love to see an end to UB, or at least UW reprints of everything. I'd also love to see the collectors boosters killed off, as they're the big reason everyone's stuff is worthless now. And finally, a BUG Zombie legendary creature - how have we not gotten one in over 30 years?

This is probably uncalled for, but I despise battles. I dislike double faced cards, I dislike sideways cards, and I dislike keeping track of a not-planeswalker that my opponent put on my side of the board. I dislike the flavor they bring. I'm super happy that there's about 4 that see regular play.

It a similar issue to Fury, where it is a single low cost card that can at its floor, gives you 2 bodies and one free damage and the ceiling being that it can kill up to 3 toughness worth of creatures and/or snowball depending upon how much your opponent is dependent upon drawing more cards to get to a wincon. If anything, I'd dare argue bowmasters' ceiling is drastically higher than fury.

Bowmasters is only a problem for people who draw a lot of cards and have shit creatures or removal. It's no doubt a pushed card; getting two 1/1 bodies for two mana, plus the ping, is definitely pushed. As someone who uses mana dorks to this day, I'm fine with someone spending two mana to trade card for card. Again, it is pushed, and my opponent does get the bodies, but that's actually fair. Fury just did the shit for free, doubled up the ETB, then killed you in a few turns. Bowmasters can't do that.

2023 1- A great year for the brand. released the best selling set ever, record profits. Hasbro united the 3 biggest fantasy brands, DeD, MTG and lord of the rings. 2- A negative year for the game. standard bannings and rules change without warning (no rotation). Modern still haunted by MH2. Historic still includes alchemy cards and cards that were made with Modern in mind and didnt pass through standard; Karn still legal. commander still the n1 paper format and the only one that can fire events and for each it easy to find random people to play with. 3- magic is more and more a numbers game. release more and more product, see what sticks, make more money. Despite players barking a lot about this or that problem the game never made more money. 4- Magic didnt gather any good will but people quickly forget the bad stuff and continue to consume. "universes beyond are bad but when it is about a brand i like i guess i will buy it" mentality seems to rule. Final fantasy is next.

Thank you and I started in 95 and left in 99. Ironically I saw this games future then… realized they would over produce. They flooded their own brand and now are going to be lucky they don’t go the way of many other ccg brands.
