16:40 I cried over your video two days ago. I realized that I’m overstocking on many things as I am a widow and 68 years old. I asked heavenly father often if it’s OK to quit stocking or should I keep working on it. I feel the impression to keep working on it. When you said it was for the kids, and when you say we need to save the children, I know that their lives the truth I’m doing this for the children and the grandchildren I give them baskets, jellies and pickles and jams at Christmas time. I send them home with the garden, produce, canned, dried, and frozen when they come at Thanksgiving from that summers harvest. And now some of my daughters are asking to be taught some of those skills in earnest. We are doing it for our children whether we save them literally or spiritually. We always keep them in our prayers that they will listen to the Holy Ghost and up their own game. Thank you for sharing.

One of the best things that I enjoy riding horses through the woods and fields is that they do not scare the wild life. We can get within feet of deer and even coyotes, foxes, etc., when on horse back. probably because those same animals share the fields with the horses, so they comfortable with them. The deer even come and lick the horses salt block and drink from their water trough.

We've' also had influenza B with heavy fatigue, for about 2 solid weeks since December 27th, today it hit my oldest son. My husband was hit first and has been fatigued and had symptoms this whole time and failed to make it more than a few hours into his shift, and retested positive again late Tuesday night, receiving fluids in ER after he went tachycardic. We truly didn't even think he was dehydrated. We don't feel much better especially as fatigue goes, but...He is going to try doing one night of work tomorrow night and I am going to try returning to work Tuesday. Very glad to hear you two are on the mend.

consider the moat, quote unquote, that Kevin and Sarah did on their property to keep deer out of their orchard and garden. 6 feet apart, fencing all the way around, double row of fence, and also take note of the motorized t post machine, or hell for that matter use the bucket on that fabulous tractor. My daddy had a Farmall cub that I was driving at 5 years old, loved that thing. Living Traditions Homestead is Kevin and Sarah. Thank you both for all that you do for us. Truly, thank you.

What a great video❤. It blessed me. Glad you guys are feeling better. I like the azalea bush story. I only have a half acre piece of property but I had a lady stop by when I was at work and talk to my kids many years ago and she told them that she grew up on my little piece of land her name is engraved in the concrete of the slab of the garage. And although I told the kids don't answer the door. They did and they talked to her and she said that they used to have a cow back on the back end of my garden area. (Which was an answer to a question i had about that corner.)

This is so true, especially for an aging couple. My husband and I are 79 and 71 respectively. We are 'enjoying'(?) age related health issues. We are on 22 acres of land that have been in my family since 1860. Most of that acreage is in woods, but 3-4 acres around our house is kept trimmed. We haven't been very successful with gardening, but keep trying. Right now, the tractor is down... We keep on, keepin' on... We do have woods surrounding us, so we don't see or hear the neighbors, and since we own the land, it won't be logged like what happened at DSH.

You might consider getting a couple livestock guardian dogs. Ours protect our entire property, but especially our poultry and free range waterfowl. I've taught them to leave the deer in the woods alone. Watering and the heat was a real challenge this past year. I'm in SE Louisiana and we had a 25 inch deficit of rain last year here.

Danny & Wanda, good to see you are both on the mend. You are most richly blessed. My Big question as I get older is: who will help when I cannot do chores? Without family right there to take over, or a really good friend or neighbor, I would be unable to do anything. This is why the old homesteads, had several additions on the main house to keep family close. Even if they have their own dreams other vocations or jobs, at least they are there to learn, watch and grow old with us. Shalom Walter

Back in 2000 or 2001, I had been asked to open a restaurant in Evansville Indiana. That summer WE had a drought . Went over 100 days where the temp was 100 or above, day AND night. The Ohio River got so low that the water pick-ups, for the town, were exposed. Large merchant boats and barges were grounded, mid stream and there got to NO grass, not even tiny yellow “wisps”. SAD!!! Evansville started transporting tanker trucks of water, non stop. The tops of my ears were sunburned so bad they had scabs on them. One day, I think it was in August, the temperature broke and dropped into the ‘80’s. The very next day, it snowed😂. Indiana is FLAT. Not many tree-breaks either. A huge cold-front came down from the north and KILLED us😅😅😅

For years I had lots of deers, at least 6 to 7 was in garden. Well I put up a electrical fence. It’s been 15 years now and only had two get in. And boy they never did come back. Damage only 2 wires . Just put new ones on, and you back in service. 6 wire high an 12, inch apart. Best thing I’ve done. They still come up at night around 9:30, but they don’t touch that fence. The funny part all this, I’m not having any garden anymore. Good luck with your garden.

I keep a years supply in my pantry and I don't let it go down. Lol! I loved listening to you talk about the deer and the chat you had with the man that planted the azalea bush that y'all wondered about. I figured you would be spending more time at Pecan Grove than Deep South because I've been following you two through the changes at Deep South. I love your stories! I hope you write down the Azalea story and create a notebook of everything you learn about Pecan Grove and Deep South to pass on to future buyers. I think as our world changes we are going to love having little bits of 'history' about things around us. So happy you are both on the mend! Think about getting walkie talkies to communicate on such a large property. I use two sets, one to keep in touch with my husband since he has early onset dementia in order for him to contact me when he needs me. The other one is to communicate with my livestock guardian dogs. Mine usually don't constantly bark like the Great Pyrenees, but when they do the just stay away bark for too long, I can ask them to let it go. That way I keep happy neighbor's 😉.
