Today’s trip is on the Kiskiminetas River in Western Pennsylvania beginning at Roaring Run and ending at Hyde Park, a distance of nine miles, a new personal best distance I have ever paddled with my new Eddyline Sitka Lt.
I hope sometime later this summer or fall, to take an one-night paddling camping trip on the upper Allegheny river. This would mean a downstream paddle of 8 or 9 miles, then camp, with another 8 or 9 mile paddle the next day to the take out. Although I had paddled my Sitka nine miles on the Shenango River in Pennsylvania one month ago, I wanted to paddle the boat on a larger and more lively river in anticipation of a trip on the Allegheny.

Look behind, up, down, and all around you before you become fixated capturing a scene with your camera. Don’t step backward without looking first, you might fall off a ledge, into a hole, or into car traffic. Common sense also prevents you from ruining someone else’s experience, stay out of their photographs, or their observing and appreciating a natural scene. Be courteous and respectful of others, you don’t own the outdoors or public places, nor have an exclusive license to be in that location, be quiet around others, and leave your boom box at home.
