This is a really interesting layout. I wouldn’t want that much of my weekly space to be dedicated to the weekends, but I know people have been asking for this. I really like the bigger boxes on the traditional, horizontal layout.

It does seem like a ton of space for Saturday and Sunday, but you are right, people have been begging for this for a while. I'm really interested to see how people use the layout!

Thanks for the video! It’s fun to see the new planners. I’m trying the Rad & Happy teacher planner for next year, but it’s so hard to resist the pretty EC teacher planner when it launches.

Possibly splitting the boxes in half & using for meal planning, errands, or anything else you may want to remember - just a thought

I like the vertical layout, but I wish they made the weekend boxes smaller. Like stack Saturday and Sunday in one row where Sunday is. That should have given them room to allow for making the rest of the weekday boxes a little wider even if they were a row shorter.

The weekend boxes are pretty big - I think you are right, they could have put saturday and sunday in one column to give a bit more space for the other days. I'm not sure how that would have looked, but I feel like it would have been a better option. BUT, at the same time, I know teachers will probably love the extra space on saturday and sunday.

@@Townsendhouse1 I definitely like the idea of the weekend boxes being there. I know I do a similar thing with my main monthly calendar that you do, but that doesn’t necessarily help when I’m looking at a specific week trying to lay everything out. Like I like the idea of having a couple of smaller half the size they show in one column for the two weekend days to be visible in the week. That way I could write out and have those things visible in the week, and not have to worry about looking and flipping back all of the time to the main monthly calendar. For me I put things on the main monthly calendar but as I go week by week I will add appointment notes or whatever in on my weekly schedule of assignments under the day in which we have it going on. Having that space for the weekend stuff is really nice, but at the same time, I really agree that the smaller amount of space is iffy for me as well. In the vertical layout I also feel like I would be struggling to try and jam all of one kids things into one box rather than being okay with using the two boxes side by side in the horizontal format. I typically have two side by side boxes for my oldest two, and then 1 each for my younger two, but it’s hard to squeeze in everything sometimes for my youngest son as he’s in middle school and has more work he’s responsible for.

I'm so glad this showed up. I've never seen your videos but they gave me a refreshing view. High school is freaking hard and planning beyond is a roller coaster! There is so much focus on younger grades. High school is all about dual enrollment but that wasn't a path my child wanted to go down and it left me feeling like a failure. But your video about your daughter's last year and all the different options that are now out there gave me a new perspective. Sometimes it is just hard when everyone is like college college college. Thank you!

I'm glad it was helpful! We aren't sure what she wants to do at this point, but there are a lot of options, and I think that is great. When there is such a focus on dual enrollment for homeschoolers, I feel like it leaves a lot of kids behind similar to when they put you on different tracks in public high school. We have homeschooled for 14 years with 10 years to go. Our son just graduated and chose not to do dual enrollment. While I respect those who choose the DE route, it would make me sad to miss out on so many homeschool experiences with my kids. Our younger kids may choose DE in the future, but I will try to find a way to maintain a family morning time or something. I see some of my friends fall in to the trap/mindset that DE somehow makes their children more intelligent. Speaking from experience, that is false. There are many great options out there. You are not alone, Mama! ❤

Agreed! High school is hard! My #3rd did do dual credit, but I so missed the freedom to do what I wanted with him. My last is 14 and we are about to head intk high school. I don't set up for dual credit until 11th or later, so we have some time before we figure out if this one is college bound or not. One of my 4 is going straight in, the first took a gap year, and my 2nd will be going to a state college for some certifications this next year after 6 years out. All are different;).

Lol:). I buy two planners and unscrew the spiral and blend them:). I am getting the teacher vertical- no extra pages, but three of the clear sleeves, and the homeschool planner. Been homeschooling for years and loved the 3 ring binder the best, but they only made it for one year. It is m6 brain (scattered/art teacher type) so I NEED something that meets the need. Excellent review. I was listening to you as I placed my order. It has taken me years to realize the cost is worth it because managing high school kiddos is hard! Mine are now 27, 23, 18, and 14, so only one left after this next week's graduation of #3😊. Planners are the ONLY thing that keeps me focused. It literally stays open on our kitchen table all the time:).

I think blending them is a great choice, to get exactly what you need! And yes, the cost is worth it because it is my brain. I honestly don't know how our years would turn out if I didn't have the planner 🤪 I hope you have a wonderful graduation! Would love to hear some of your plans for next homeschool year - do you lean towards particular curriculum? We are entering my oldest's last year, and it just seems so crazy to me!

I think maybe they put it in because some states require you to submit curriculum plans for approval? We don't need to do that, thankfully 😬

I am excited about the vertical, but I’m torn between it and the homeschool planner. I love that things are more catered towards homeschoolers, but I wish it was dated…and vertical…surely we aren’t asking too much?! 😉 I do understand from a company standpoint though- homeschoolers can be very picky with their planner layouts!

Homeschoolers picky?! What do you mean! 🤣 Yes, dated would be awesome. I know that we are a smaller group, so from a business standpoint it may not make sense. But, I remember when the EC Teacher Planner's were undated. It was a little different because they still had Monday-Friday listed down the side so you only had to write the numbers. And it was such a big deal when they came out with the teacher planner being a full year, dated planner. I just don't think I can go back to undated 😬🤣

I will be purchase the traditional horizontal layout. I am a specials/elective teacher for an intermediate school and see 22 classes each week. The horizontal is perfect for me. It’s how my brain works.

Do you know if the vertical layout also comes in the 7 x 9 and the 8 x 10 sizes?

It is only in the coiled teacher planner - not the 7x9 or 8x10 sizes. The 7x9 is only the Focused option which they have had in the past. The 8x10 is in the traditional horizontal format.

I have always used the vertical layout for my homeschool planning (Plum Paper) and love it! Not sure why but it’s how my brain works :)

I have to say that I will not be purchasing the new verticals layout ECTP. For me, I just don’t need the weekend days eating up space. But I do think this is just a nice layout in general and that lots of teachers and non-teachers will be enjoying it! I’m considering the homeschool layout though. I

@@Townsendhouse1 As much as I dislike having to date a planner, I think I finally decided to use the undated EC homeschool planner I bought when it came out…and then proceeded to stick in a box under my bed. Ahem.
