Josh Smillie. The no brainer choice. We both know this mate but to your next questions... Will North trade pick 1? Should North trade pick 1? I'll say no. And as a North supporter I say this simply because even as a midfielder, Smillie as a tall big man has the capability to be a utility that fills a void every club would. He is his own man, yet has eerily similar characteristics as Cripps, Green and even Bontempelli. Bottom line is Smillie would complete the midfield mold with the likes of Sheezel, Wardlaw and LDU around that midfield, Smillie makes a more versatile structure across the board. Another factor to consider hinges off Cam Zurhaar. Now IF Zurhaar stays, North might consider trading pick 1 for multiple picks, However I'd wager North will want a top 5 pick plus another 1st rounder as North will have serious interest in Trainor and a key Forward. Perhaps Whitlock. If Zurhaar does leave via free agency, then that should by all accounts net the band 1 compensation. Let's not open the can of worms over Zurhaar's worth, let's just admit that he would meet the criteria, since Zurhaar already has a 5yr deal in front of him so whoever comes knocking (ESS,WC and FREO). So band one compensation. That's pick 2 as things stand. Now I have no doubt that North will then take Smillie at pick 1 and then Trainor at pick 2, as that's HUGE list service to building stocks behind our defence with Comben a potential FWD once again. Smillie as a definitive pick 1 at North would be great as that reflects greatly on what's already built around Josh and can protect him too. That's it. Rant over mate. All said and done loving the draft content mate, that is quite the stacked first round brewing that's for sure!

What about Cooper Hynes? Maybe not as polished as the other mids but seems to be having a pretty good season as a tall mid who can also rotate forward is averaging nearly 2 goals a game and 25 disposals in the Coates Talent league. Also pretty happy with who you had the Swans taking

From what the AFL said they want to change the points/ bidding system for father-son picks, but I think if they’re doing that it should be across the board so include NGA and Academy as well.

Still have my fingers crossed for Dowling or Edwards but its gonna be hard for any mid once Pedlar and Rankine are back. Murphy may be out due to a hard hit last weekend and would love to see Dowling this weekend. Sid Draper would be nice but I think Crows will miss out on him perfect replacement for Crouch and Laird both Extractors and Draper is the best in the draft for that role. Would not be surprised if we split the pick to get Kade Herbert and Phoenix Hardgrave if Draper goes before our pick. Welsh is coming in and I would say Himmelberg gets his move to GWS. I have watched taj Stanley for a long Time and we have played against eachother and he can go back and has an unbelievable set of hands so can go forward as well I think it would be very silly for a club to pass him up later in the draft great call by u daz

I love the Draper pick for the crows. I don’t think we are in a position yet to be trading away our draft picks, especially with Tassie coming soon. It’s frustrating to watch how we develop our mids. But hopefully Laird and crouch are on the outer by the time players like Dowling, Edwards and Draper ready to go

I was really hoping WC got J.Smith but you are convincing me about Trainor. WC def need a key defender to replace Mcgovern and then eventually Barass. They also need another top mid b4 Tassie come in. Hopefully they trade for Busslinger and pair him with Trainor. Great stuff as always

As a Collingwood fan, I’d like to see us swoop on either Thomas Sims or Jonty Faull, we need to stop messing around and pick a key forward Next year, we have a chance of winding up in a top 10 selection regardless of where we finish provided Tom McGuane is coming in (and I showed his numbers to a former Coates League player who said that he is a top 10 contender next year)

Do you think Hawks still goes for Whitlock given they picked up Jasper Scaife yesterday? Do you think someone like an O'Farrel might be a better option? I doubt West Coast will take a key defender over a midfielder at pick 3. We've not taken a key defender in the top 28 odd picks IIRC in the last 24 years and I don't think we'd start now. We still need elite midfield talent. In your scenario we'd take Finn O'Sullivan and say thank you very much.
