Frank, you inspire me. I'm a 76 yr old Midwestern; I've section hiked in 13 of the 14 AT States (day hikes), most recently VT, NH, and ME, this past Sept. I also had the good fortune of making it to the top of Kilimanjaro in 2007. Look forward to watching you on your journey. Best of luck and keep marching forward.😊

Please take extra pairs of socks, one to sleep with and two to alternate with each day. If your socks wear out, at least you will have a backup.

Nice to see you again, Frank. On one of your earlier videos, in the comment section, I think you told me that you were starting 4 or 5 days ahead of me but hopefully we will meet up at some point. I too was a big fan of Typical, BWD, Vegas and the rest of that group in 2023! It would be neat if those guys could come out and hike a stretch with us. I believe BWD is heading out to Georgia now and is going to hike Springer Mtn. To NC. It’s a hectic time right now! I finally figured out how to edit and upload videos to my channel - I’m very low tech. Good luck. Look forward to meeting you on the AT somewhere!

Hello!!! It shouldn't be too difficult to recognize each other out there. I think it's possible to have a meal together considering the length of the trail...lolol! Yes, it would be very cool to meet the guys out there. Right now I'm talking w/ Willy and he's checking on the availability of stove fuel at the Visitor Center. They used to carry it, but I need to confirm that or stop along the highway at the REI store for a small canister. It's getting crazy here as well. I'm all excited about the trip and the people out there!! BTW...low tech is better than trying to over edit the vlogs. Remember, they will be documenting who we are and what we're doing at this stage of our lives!!!! Peace!! 😎👍✌

I love the podcast idea!! My own service will depend on whether I can get into that though. By the way, a second pair of socks will probably be a good idea for hiking… especially if one gets wet. You should keep one for just sleeping, which will always be dry.

@sticktheeagle Hey Stick, Good to hear from you!!! I have relented on the socks. There is now a 2nd pair of Darn Tuffs in my pack, but for sleeping I have the Torrid Sleep booties from Enlightened Equipment. The Live podcast/vlog would most likely have to happen at a hostle or town place for power and service reasons. That would also allow for other tramily and friends to go Live w/ me. Hope to catch up with you somewhere out there for coffee or a meal. Peace!! 👍😎✌️

I was just as jealous over your hike and the relationship that developed with your Tramily of Willy, Vegas, and the others that were there. SO....how do you feel about getting together w/ some of your Tramily and any Tramily I find this year....and doing the PCT in 2025?? I already have the "go-ahead" at home for that. See ya soon Pat!! Id love to do the PCT in 2025, but I have a lot of work to do with my wife. She doesn’t want me going on thru hikes anymore. Lol I will work on her to get on some hikes.

@@PatTownsend 1 day at a time...just like the trail lolol. She's probably just worried about you, especially with all the weight you dropped in 2023...WOW!! We still have about 1 year before we'd need to apply for our permits and another 2 month roughly before we could depart. They tell us what day we can start in their system. Talk w/ ya soon brother!! Hi Sparky..Love you channel name!! I do not have any relatives in TN. I did have in Virginia, and in a very bizarre moment found a relative in a food line at the Hartfield airport in Atlanta. He was a ground handler getting his lunch and turned to speak to someone behind me. His name tag was Doty, so I asked him about his family. He said he was from a small town in NY that I'd probably never heard of. I asked if it was Ithaca NY and his mouth dropped wide open. Needless to say we both called home and started asking questions and discovered we were something like 2nd cousins. Thank you for following me on my journey. And a little secret between you, me and 770+ fans who may read this....I weighed my base weight and full weight tonight on my pack tonight....I came in 2 lbs UNDER my planned weight.
