Ground cherries are delicious. They are slow starters and then one day all of a sudden a plant with fruit! Mushroom tomatoes are good red tomatoes. We prefer dark and orange tomatoes; Cherokee, Carbon, Black Beauty, Orange Strawberry, Pineapple slicers; Sun Gold, and Chocolate Pear cherry tomatoes; Amish Paste, Jersey Devil, Giant paste and Hungarian paste tomatoes. We planted over 150 tomato plants last year to pear down what we cannot live without. We love all types of butternut squash; Honeynut, butternut, Pennsylvania Dutch Butternut. The Rocky Top salad mix is our absolute favorite. We cut and come again from early spring to late fall. Absolutely beautiful colorful delicious! Cannot wait to see find out what you think about the Japanese Swiss Chard. If it performs and tastes well for you, I'll probably try it next year. Our marigolds become medium size bushes with hundreds of flowers. Nasturtiums - at the end of season, I like to pull the flowers and some leaves off the plants, dry them and put them through the coffee grinder to use as a black pepper alternative (I love black pepper) kind of a sustainable resource. We are in E TN 7a. Cosmos begin to flower in the heat of the summer, late June/July. We Never use any supports-not necessary. They last flower and remain beautiful through fall. We always have cosmos. So does Patara of Appalachia's Homestead. We do not know her but, do live close.

I planted borage in a garden bed about 10 years ago, and it has come back every spring since. It self-seeds like crazy! So that one packet of seeds is probably all you'll ever need to buy. The bees LOVE it, and it works especially well in my strawberry patch, because the borage doesn't start to get really tall until the strawberries are done for the season.

Nice seed haul. You do need to start your brussel sprouts on time. They are a winter vegetable that you start in the spring. Greetings from the Netherlands. Hope you enjoy the variety of aprouts you chose, as they are from here. There are also dwarf varieties of sprouts too. Happy gardening.

Fennel is really nice, I only discovered recently. Its very fragrant when raw, if you really like licorice, but when you cook it, the licorice flavour becomes very mild and subtle. I sliced the bulb into 3/4 inch slabs, salted and oiled and grilled and it comes out great. Its the texture like celery or onion so its good braising, soup, roasted, shaved on salad raw. It seems to go on sale around xmas time for $1.50 so thats great compared to other fresh veg.. Hope yours turn out great.

I grew up in Michigan and have been gardening for 5 years! Make the most of our growing season. Summers aren't hot and dry like Arizona, but they are HUMID! But if we have a humid spell right when you're sowing your seeds, hoohoohoohooo boy, excellent, EXCELLENT germination.

not to give you ANOTHER seed to buy, but i had great success with lovage perennial celery! it's like the amsterdam celery but perennial. i tried other types of celery and just couldn't keep up with it, it will get woody and bitter if you don't pay attention. also, i live in Ohio and was able to grow lemongrass, but i didn't give it enough space so i didn't get those good thick stems that you can slice up. i didn't know you have to separate each little grass plant and give it space, like a carrot. but it grows fast! and you can still use the top grass part for seasoning and tea, you just have to take them out like a bay leaf.

Make sure you wait till the ground cherries are fully yellow and ripe to the point of falling off, they are toxic when theyre green. The first year I tried growing them I planted way too many and they still pop up a few years later even in my cold climate so I'd reccomend only planting one or two plants into your garden since they produce a lot of fruit. Unfortunately no one in my family really liked them 😅

I don't think I've ever tried any of these varieties you've got! They look lovely though. 2024 is the year of the bean for me... I've done green beans (bush and pole) in the past, and limas in the past, but I'm going to be a little more agressive this year, I think and am trying new varieties too. I am absolutely kicking myself though for not trying cabbage. And I'm not buying any more seeds this year, so... 2025, I guess

@@fortunefarms I went a little crazy buying seeds last summer during the wildfires in Canada. I'm not sure what it was like in Nebraska but it was awful in Michigan. And knowing the smoke probably was impacting farmers and seed-growers... I did a lot of planning and a little panic-buying. It's fine. I'm fine. Everything's fine!
