Over the holiday I went on a mass building spree and assembled my backlog. I now have only 2 unassembled models and 206 unpainted minis. 2024 is going to be full of paint for me.

Thanks for all the great content. The talk about finding a balance in the hobby space and life, really hit home for me. I have two medically complex children that require a lot of time and attention. I've had to give up a lot of my hobby time to become educated on loads of medical equipment and procedures. I've been working very hard at finding a new balance in my gaming / hobby life. I think setting goals is important, but, make sure those goals are for things that bring you that spark of happiness. I've found that investing time and money into a rule set that doesn't respect my time, isn't worth it. Just paint / play the games you love.

Your talk of Blair Witch reminds me of how I wasn't able to take that movie seriously as a kid (still never seen it), but after watching the much less serious Final Destination 2, I spent months watching out for all kinds of ways I might get killed. I stayed out of elevators, the freeway, large flocks of birds, etc. etc. I even bathed less frequently, to reduce chances of me slipping and cracking my skull open or some shit. Also kept seeing shadowy things that looked sinister as hell, but in fact weren't. This is why I avoid watching YT vids about people dying. lol

Washes were made by thinning down the Humbrol enamels you were using already. Future was used for putting the ultimate lazy man’s polish on the toe caps of your dress shoes if you were in the military. 😂

This time two years ago I was having something of an epiphany regarding motivation and discipline, and something Jon said regarding habits during a TUP episode really resonated with me. I made a resolution to paint a model a week. It need only be a 5 minute zombie, but I had to paint a model a week in order to make painting a habit, rather than a chore. I ended up painting 71 models in '22, and 203 models in '23. A chore did indeed turn into a habit, which turned into something I now look forward to. Thanks boys! This year my resolution is to get my last couple hundred points of Orks done and 2000 points of my childhood Lizardmen...

Cannibal Holocaust was the first found footage film did a lot of the same things that the blair witch did. The The McPherson Tape is the one I was thinking of that you guys may know of, it was broadcast in 89 on TV, it's a solid film in spite of it's jank ass alien costumes. It was banned or something because it made people think it was real. I could be getting them all mixed up though.

1:08:30 I watch Games Night and I don't enjoy their videos as much as other batreps. This is a subjective choice - it is not a criticism of their style. I like batreps which show the rules of the game and dice rolls, show nice close images of the action, painted models, while also throwing in enough wide and medium shots so I understand the greater context. This means the video will probably take as long as the game. For this style, despite the casual nature, I think Fast Panda is the best. They prioritize explaining what is happening, showing both wide and close shots, telling you what they are rolling and why and showing the rolls. I don't like fully live battle reports because usually the players are talking to each other, while Fast Panda is making an effort to explain to the viewers. They also make a big effort to keep their camera moves smooth, and otherwise keep the camera still, so the motion sickness I get from people like MWG or GMG doesn't effect me. Sorry, this does mean I'm not that interested in your live reports - often the camera is too far away too long, and the banter is less focused than I prefer. Again, please don't take this as saying you are doing a bad job. Just like I enjoy seeing the dice rolled, some people enjoy the casual banter. I expect those that do would describe it as making them feel like they are hanging out with friends, which is a good feeling to give to people.

Scott, check out Haikyu. It's an anime about volleyball and really good. Also for the spiking and blocking possible a rock/paper/scissors system tweaked to your rules. I love the idea!

My standard vpn's are useless and a waste of money for most people comment. See the https in the url and the pad lock? Your connection is secure and encrypted. VPN adds nothing. Only use case is if you do a lot of international travel or there's that one show from a different country that you really need to watch.

Those people are already all doing free sponsors every video they upload and they will do that no matter what because that’s what their channels rely on and gw knows this.
