Love the real life 0-60 tests! Appreciate you take altitude and air temp. into consideration, most people ignore it although they're very important factors.

I’m glad you liked it! Density altitude which is a combination of about 4 air quality factors is huge, if it can affect a gas engines performance by over 25% in some extreme conditions of course it needs to be mentioned, IMO. Lol. Thanks for watching! 🙂

This explains alot. I was at a stop light in my canyon AT4X and a high country pulled up and kept inching forward. I knew he was going to gun it and try to cut me off. He reved his truck as i didn't. Both hit the gas and i was inching past him. Never thought this 4 banger would keep up with a v8 as it feels slower than my sons nissan frontier. Never timed anything to know for sure

Great video- Only thing I can knock is the cab/bed configurations being different and the street spec vs trailboss. I feel it'd be a better test to do all crew cabs, all on same tire sizes roughly. Happy to see the diesel is nowhere near as slow as I thought it was.

Thanks! Yeah, I know this test wasn’t exactly apples to apples. But I’m just a regular guy trying to do the best test I could that day, lol. Yeah, the diesels hit hard at full boost/torque, but in typical diesel fashion it’s not a very smooth or linear power band like an NA V8 or supercharged car.

Interesting video, thanks for doing this. Are they all 8 speed or 10 speed transmissions or a mix? Assuming that could also impact the results. Also curious if the 2” lift and bigger offroad tires slow down the 5.3 Trailboss you tested a bit compared to the others.
@AutomotiveAnonymous208
@AutomotiveAnonymous208 6 ай бұрын
I think a mix of transmissions, although without revisiting the window sticker maybe only the 5.3 and possibly the 2.7 was a 8 speed, as the more premium engines are paired to the 10 speed. You’re absolutely right!! A lifted AT tire trailboss compared to a regular cab street truck isn’t fair, but it was still a fun video to put together, and know we can see a performance range in their best or worse configuration, lol. 😂

The 2.7 turbomax is a beast. People hear "4 cylinder" and instantly dismiss this engine. Almost as much HP as the other engines, as much towing capacity, tons of low end torque and second quickest 0-60 in the field. Go watch the video that interviews one of the designers/engineers. The L3B is pretty cool.

@AutomotiveAnonymous208
@AutomotiveAnonymous208 2 ай бұрын
Good question. I’m assuming that’s what the computer thinks is the best RPM to shift at for acceleration, probably to stay in the torque band. 🧐 I’m not as familiar with Diesels and when their tq/hp cross like a gas engine that does at 5252 RPM, but this engine makes way more torque than HP so maybe that’s why.
