This V6 uses the Atkinson cycle compared to the gas only version which uses the traditional Otto cycle. Atkinson has less torque and hp output, but is more efficient converting burning toxic chemicals "gas" into propulsion. The electric motors more than make up the difference.

Question: since this is going to be one of the last Chrysler models, is it safe to say that it's a bad purchase to make today due to the fact that there might not be any support for this in the future? Having two powertrains to maintain does make this risky, and the Pacifica has known reliability issues. :(

Great question. I'm actually planning on making a video about it. I dont have any concerns with Stellantis as a company. Although Chrysler may be discontinued it is owned by stellantis and they have to continue providing service support. Just like Saturn and saab continued to be supported at GM dealerships after they were shut down. Also the powertrain is similar to Jeep 4XE and jeep isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Jeep, dodge, Chrysler, and ram are all typically serviced at one dealership anyways. So you should be good and not have to worry about that.
