We have a 2021 Sienna, bought new and now with 36k miles. We are a family of 8 and can confidently says the Sienna is a phenomenal vehicle. Drives comfortably with plenty of room. Not a single issue, defect or problem. We can haul all 8 of us for a week’s vacation no problem and still get 37 mpg. You just can’t beat that.

Agree, can take out the second row. But haven’t had to do that yet and don’t expect to since we have a suburban and trailers. That only reason I would like to take out the second row would be to sleep in the back. But the economy, reliability (so far), and power and performance is pretty good. Put it in sport mode and it will go.

@@timd7445 Apparently you aren’t very familiar with minivans since they all can seat 7 or 8 passengers. I have a 2023 Pacifica Hybrid and it does have three rows and seats 7 people. There is no difference in space between it and the non hybrid Pacifica. The only difference is that the middle row captains chairs don’t fold into the floor on the hybrid, but they can be removed, so the total cargo space is the same on both vans.

I have a Sienna and rented the Pacifica hybrid couple weeks ago in a trip. I’d say the Pacifica rides and drives better than the Sienna, the seats just way more comfortable. The down sides are gas mileage not as good, and the steering wheel just on the thick side and not too comfortable holding on for a long time. Also it couldn’t hold as much stuffs as the Sienna with the 3rd row up, in terms of couple large and medium suitcases.

I own a 2017 Grand Caravan. it has the earlier version of stow-n-go, so not quite as simple to fold all the seats, but still workable. in less than 5 minutes I can turn the van from a 7 passenger vehicle to having an enclosed space that does fit 8 by 4 ft plywood sheets (yep, done it). With the improved interior and stow-n-go, and all wheel drive, I'd go for the Pacifica. I get the need for better fuel economy, but my priorities are utility, comfort, and safer driving on the highway due to having a more responsive drive train. And one more thing, which ever vehicle you buy, you'll be living with it every day for a long time, so you might was well be as comfortable as you can be.

Nope. The 3.6l pentastar has had its bugs worked out and it is some of the most reliable v6's on the market. The 9 speed transmission, with the exception of some programming issues, have nothing mechanically wrong. There is one 2017 Pacifica on YT, that has over 500 000 miles on it and it is still running. As long as you maintain these major components well, by changing the fluids and filter way before what the owners manual states, you will have many years of troublefree service.

Transmission occasionally shifts hard. That said, I've used it to haul 4x8 sheets of plywood, a huge gazebo in a box and tons of other stuff... plus people of course. Being able to convert from 7 passenger mode to 'truck' mode in under two minutes is phenomenal. I have to hand it to Toyota for reliability but I'd still buy another Chrysler just for the stow-n-go.

It depends on your trip pattern, if you driving less than 20-25 mil between charging - yes, you can achieve this, but for me using it since 2019 it's almost not possible. My commute to work is 19 miles and i am charging home and at work, so it's very rare i get more than 800 miles on tank. It changes drastically if you drive more than that or long trip, but still ok because it's a hybrid. And very big disadvantage for us is it's not 4x4. Moreover it's not reliable. Heater failed after 2 month once we bought it, and recently i got an engine failure which was covered by one of the recent recall. was in shop for 2+ weeks. I have 46k on it and consider to change to Sienna just because of 4x4. But still thinking.....

Math isn't favorable for the Pacifica in basically any scenario, and the difference becomes even greater when you compare overall budget vs reliability/safety (risk) Pacifica MPG: 19 City, 28 Highway, 23 Average Sienna MPG: 36/36/36 Average miles driven per year in USA: 15,000 Pacifica Yearly Average Fuel Cost (City) 15,000 miles ÷19 MPG = 789 gallons a year --------------- 789 gallons × $3.85 average cost of 1 gallon of unleaded = $3039 in fuel per year VS Sienna Yearly Average Fuel Cost (City) 15,000 miles ÷36 MPG = 417 gallons a year --------------- 417 gallons × $3.85 average cost of 1 gallon of unleaded = $1605 in fuel per year Fuel Value Comparison $3039 - $1605 = $1434 fuel savings per year in the Sienna $7,170 over 5 years, Pacifica warranty is expired at 5 year/60k miles (or 4 years at 15k miles yearly) Toyota Hybrid Battery warranty is 10 years/150k miles (10 years at 15k miles yearly) If you're mostly driving in the city with lots of stops, that's $14,340 in fuel savings in the Sienna over 10 years with 2.5x more warranty and statistically proven reliability on average over the Pacifica (anecdotes unwelcome) Highway-driving-only number of 28 MPG on the Pacifica makes the difference $450/year vs the 36 MPG, $2,250 over 5 years, $4500 over a decade OVERALL AVERAGE at 23 MPG is a difference $900/year, or $9k more in gas over 10 years Fuel range on the Pacifica is 323/425 vs 648 on the Sienna Pacifica = lower cost, less warranty, statistically higher likelihood to need warranty, more stops, higher fuel bill Time in the shop even under warranty = unknown time expense = unknown $ Pacifica overall safety rating from the IIHS: "Good" Sienna overall safety rating: Top Safety Pick+ The Pacifica makes sense if you never have an issue or an accident and drive highway only. Toyotas are good vehicles, it is just your math- waiting time for Siennas is currently 8-10 months and Dealers are charging $10.000,- over the MSRP, since they have nothing to sell. I tried to get a Sienna. Dealer 1 was 6-8 month wait, Dealer 2 was 7-9 month wait, Dealer 3 was 8-12 week but with a $5k dealer markup. No guarentee with any of them to get the spec/trim I wanted. AWD ones were even longer. Pacifica's seat layout with stow-n-go is vastly superior. I've had well over a dozen Pacifica's for rentals. They take abuse well clearly and really are put together extremely nicely for a chrysler product. Trans is the weak point as the zf9 isn't the smoothest. But these 2 are like the best ones to get. Honda has been hit or miss recently with their infotainment, v6 oil consumption and the 10 speed being hit or miss. Kia, well let's just say they're HOT ticket vehicles.

I have a 2021 Pacifica limited S AWD and once you load it with 6 people it’s too slow. We use it to commute back and forth to work. Wished it had more power. We only get 21.5 mpg driving the 100 miles back and forth from work. After 55k on it the only issue is the electrical problem. It randomly flashes all the lights on the dash and say press one pedal at a time. Then saids service traction control.

I like to buy Sienna because of much better gas milage, reliability reported by Consumer Reports, and super climate control for both winter and summer. But Toyota dealers won't have Sienna in stock, and their responses are they don't know when new Siennas are coming. So I am keep on driving 2009 Pontiac Montana which has been trouble-free for almost 15 years. I just keep on changing oil, filter, tires until Toyota gets new Sienna for me.

Then around 5 years later, (family got bigger) we bought a used 2018 Toyota Sienna AWD with 7 seats. I converted it to an 8 seater and we love it also ! Especially in the winter time ! The Grand Caravan would take ages to take off but not with the Sienna ! And the Sienna has all the luxeries the Dodge Grand Caravan didnt have ! I still love it today ! We can have our 6 kids in the back and go on a trip and this van does a great job ! We added a Thule storage box on the roof !

My mother has the hybrid siena, i have a 2016 grand caravan. I have never stowed the second row seats because the space underneath that they should fit in is our trunk, and is full of tools, straps, tire pump, etc. I would only buy a hybrid for any large family hauler I might buy in the future. My parent's actually bought their Siena for their annual snowbird migration to Florida, as a minivan can swallow way more than you can imagine. Fully loaded they saw 35 mpg on the interstate. I would love to see the Chrysler hybrid compared to the sienna hybrid, otherwise it's Apples and oranges

i rented a Voyager (commercial van) for a week and I was impressed by the driving and it got an honest 25mpg in mixed driving. Lots of owners report upper 20's and even 30mpg highway if you keep the speed reasonable. Stow and Go seats are less padded than normal seats to fit while folded. Less comfortable if you're going to be using them all the time. We wanted to buy the Toyota for the mpg but dealers haven't had them on the lot in 2+ years and want 5-10k over sticker to reserve one.

This is one category where I would actually pick the Chrysler over a Toyota if I had to buy with my own money. The ability to put 4x8 sheets in the back means a lot to me - I basically wouldn't have to use my pickup for runs to the lumberyard or hardware store. I could practically get rid of my truck as the minivan would handle the majority of reasons I even have a pickup. The Pacificas have been pretty reliable in my experience. The driving dynamics and the creature comforts seal the deal for me.

In my 78 years, I have had Japanese, German, Swedish, and Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge cars. Don't want another Japanese car, they skimp in many places and are uncomfortable. Absolutely loved my SAAB convertible and the way it drove, but repairs were expensive. Rabbit, Sirocco drove well but uncomfortable. Sirocco was the best car ever in the snow, was one of three cars on the road plowing through a Kansas blizzard to get a stranded friend and snow drifts up to the top of the grill. Amazing car. Dodge minivan and Durango were great. Finally traded the Durango at 200,000 miles with no problems except for a new fuel pump somewhere around 100,000. Jeep Grand Cherokee was also reliable for 100,000 miles at which point (2019) we decided to try the Pacifica Hybrid. LOVE this minivan. Cost of electricity to charge is miniscule and in the first 6 months saved over $200 in gas. Even though we are retired and didn't have many miles on the 2019 Pacifica, we just traded in for a new Pacifica 2023 hybrid. Why? Because with the 2023 discount, the $7500 credit, and the high trade in value of our 2019, it cost us less than $20,,000 overall, taxes and everything. I don't expect those deals to last. So we have another Pacifica hybrid with all the stow capability, safety features and comfort. And, my husband with his long legs, can get in and out easily, something he couldn't do with other brands, like Toyota. And, just for information, we used to live next to a detailer who fixed up car interiors for dealers. He told us that Chrysler/Dodge interiors were much higher quality than any other brand and things like the upholstery stood the test of time better. My two cents.

I think the review fails to account for the importance of the stow-n-go because that thing is a game changer. It is a pain in the neck with any other mini-van to remove the seats and to find a place to put them (and they are heavy). The stow-n-go is definitely a game changer - I have gone to the store "just too look around TV's) and have come home with the TV (with a Sienna I would've had to go back home, remove the seats and then go back to the store. The rest of the features are the same in all three mini-vans.

Rented both for same trip from NYC to Toronto. Sienna is awesome. Pacifica is like a tank, gas mileage is so terrible, middle seats are so uncomfortable (seat not wide, too low and thin, can't adjust forward and backward and too low), not enough power, hand rest uncomfortable, cup holders, and much more. Only 1 thing is good, fold down seat or storage under. Sienna is comfortable in every seat, saves at least 50% on gas, powerful, style, cup holders, and almost in every way.
