An absolutely amazing Cup Final Game. Finally, both teams played phenomenal. And the refs finally called a fair game with the exception of the Tkachuk tripping call.

When I saw he had 20 minutes of ice time with 7 minutes left in the game, I thought it wasn't a big deal; I've watched him have that much ice time before and look great. But the problem is the entire 6 on 5 unit was absolutely exhausted. The Panthers did something far worse than scoring empty net goals... they dumped, forechecked, and changed lines. I think only the 4th line didn't play in the last 7 minutes and I'm pretty sure I saw the 3rd line twice. They should have swapped personnel with 5 minutes left and then put the big boys on the ice for the final 4 minutes, but it probably wouldn't have changed anything. After the first 3 minutes of the game, I said to my wife, "the Panthers have no interest in winning the first period, they just want Edmonton to have nothing left in the tank at the end." The last couple times trying to carry the puck up and you can see McDavid with a little left, but not anyone else.

bob didn't recover. he wasn't phenomenal - he just wasn't challenged at all. oilers had very little shots on goal, and it seemed like they weren't even trying to get shots on net, but constantly looking for that perfect cross pass one timer junk that hasn't worked all series of course, when pucks got to the net and there was traffic, it was a fire drill. it happened several times and unfortunately they never capitalized

The online reason this Edmonton franchise is relevant at all currently is because of McDavid. Edmonton was built off there speed and firepower but that’s a terrible matchup for a squad that’s bruising and physical like Florida and we all saw that in the first three games and tonight. Sure the Oilers needed McDavid but there flaws for years is that they have needed him to do everything with Drasitil being a quality number two.

We may learn Draisaitl was hurt all series long. it's not McDavid's fault either, he played superb all four rounds. Sometimes it just takes a team like Florida to control the momentum, play well defensively and forecheck so well that even the best player in the world can't do anything about it. Hard fought games for Edmonton, but it really was Florida's year and they showed us all year long and in the playoffs, they can choke and offensive menace like the Oilers, Rangers and Boston easily with their style of play
