Does the 2024 Mazda CX-5 have enough to compete with its competitors? Well the answer might surprise you. The Mazda CX-5 has not been designed for a while and all of its direct competitors are hot and fresh. The SUV segment is a tough one already, so how is the 2024 Mazda CX-5, and is it still a good option?
Join us this week as David and Jared ask the right questions, and take you on a discovery through the 2024 Mazda CX-5 while talking price, designs, features, and they really try out that back seat. There is even a singalong. Mazda has a lot of faith in their number one selling vehicle the Mazda CX-5. They believe it can still compete and find no reason to dive head first into a full redesign. It still works, and it works well.
Mazda is growing their SUV fleet, and it is an exciting time to own a Mazda SUV. So, come along and find out if the 2024 Mazda CX-5 is the right SUV for you. You might be surprised.

I bought a 2024 CX 5 Signature Turbo and love it. I’ve been a Honda owner for 23 years previously, but the 2024 CX 5 to me is a superior vehicle than the CRV and less money.

You broke a 23 year streak? Wow. What was your last Honda before moving to Mazda? Hondas pricing has gone up quite a bit in the last two years. You probably aren’t the only person leaving the brand.

@HoodSlappersOfficial I have a Honda Civic, which I will give to my daughter. I was looking at the Honda CRV. Didn't like the new design and price was higher than the previous year. I decided to test drive the Mazda, Honda and RAV4. Mazda CX 5 was amazing and I bought it when Mazda offered a $2000. Rebate.

@PeterBruno-iu6et still kept it in the Japanese family. :) Inventory is one thing, but if you can get a rebate on top of that, and you enjoy it, then you can’t go wrong. Enjoy your Mazda mate.

I’m 72 and a car addict. I have owned 77 vehicles since I turned 17. A few were early Mazdas. A Protege which was a very good car, a 626 which @ 80k blew a head gasket, a Mazda6 from the Ford partnered era (not a good car). After those experiences I shied away from Mazda for awhile, outside of owning 6 different Miatas starting in 2001 (Miata is always the answer). Since I purchased my first Japanese brand car, a new ‘83 Accord coupe, I have owned mostly Hondas, Acuras, Toyotas, Lexus, Nissans, Infinitis…and recently Mazda vehicles are my first choice. Our return to Mazda after the hiatus was a ‘18 Mazda6 Signature and it blew us away! A way better choice than an Accord or Camry. We then owned a CX-9 GT and now our new CX-5 Signature. Again, we were blown away when we compared it to the RAV4 and CR-V…for the same price or less! The driving dynamics, power of the 2.5L Turbo and Lexus like quality make it an easy choice. My current garage has the CX-5, a ‘21 MX-5 RF Club BBR and our tried and true ‘18 Tundra that tows our travel trailer. I couldn’t be happier with our stable of cars, so much so I see long term ownership of all 3 instead of the constant turnover every 2 or 3 years. 😂 My wife is happy about that 😂

"If it is not broken, DON'T fix it." I learned this motto from my instructor on my first day in trade school in 1979! It still holds true today! The wisdom of this motto will hold for another century at least.

That’s a great motto. Mazda will eventually have to change to keep pace with all the other brands changing, but they are great at making vehicles that will withstand the test of time. Thanks for watching.

Now, would you purchase another CX-5 after this one you currently have? We do agree though. Basing your vehicle purchase on what you might need versus what actually happens in your driving life is stupid. Drive it, enjoy it and thanks for watching.

I have the a new 2024 CX-5 Turbo Premium. I love it! Quiet, quick, luxurious, solid, feels quality, fun to drive, looks great, are some of the thoughts that come to mind. Almost too quick around town. I have to remember to take it easy. I don't want tickets. The Turbo Premium trim MSRP is about $800 USD more than the Carbon Turbo trim shown here as it's called in the U.S., but has a few more toys. I preferred the leather black seats with red stitching vs with the alcantera inserts on the Carbon Turbo or the nappa leather in the Signature trim. I also wanted a different exterior color than the two colors that are offered on the Carbon Turbo. I didn't see the jump to get the Signature which adds the 360 camera, parking sensors, Mazda navigation, nappa leather, and wood trim.

The alcantara is certainly not for everyone. We like the amount of trims available as it gives buyers more choice and a good range of pricing. Enjoy the miles ahead. No speeding. ;)

I purchased this exact cx5 and returned it...the seats are very firm. They let me swop it for the signature and the seats in it were much more comfortable, I did prefer the carbon, just couldn't deal with the seats.

Really? The CX-30 seats went back further? That’s interesting considering it’s a smaller vehicle. Hopefully that’s all sorted now. Comfort is key. Thanks for watching.
@pm5632

@@HoodSlappersOfficial Yup, to me the CX5 felt a bit cramped with the drivers seat all the way back. I think because of the increased rear leg room of the 5. On the CX30 the back seat is pretty much an afterthought in terms of room so they allow the drivers seat a bit further travel even though it’s a smaller car.

I found this also. The driver's side footwell on the CX-5 felt very cramped. In the driver's seat the CX-30 felt much roomier. Unfortunately the rest of the CX-30 was just to small for my needs and I went with a Forester.

We never really reviewed the CX-9, but the new CX-90 is a cut above the rest. If you wants space and premium design and features then the CX-90 is a great choice. It’s big and does cost more money, but if you need the space it’s worth it. If you don’t need the space, the CX-5 is a brilliant substitute. A lot of it is personal preference too. So, don’t be afraid to give both a good test drive. Hopefully this helps. Thanks for watching. :)

Turbo engines are fine if your vehicle is driven a certain way (not a lot of short trips or city stop/go miles), & you change the oil every 3-4K miles (regardless of what the dealership/manual tells you) - or if you don't plan to keep the vehicle much longer than the power-train warranty period. Otherwise, they are a time-bomb. I just don't find the extra horsepower giggles worth all the pitfalls of owning a turbo engine. Watch the Car Care Nut video on turbo engines & proper usage/care of them before deciding to buy one.
@OmarZ77
@OmarZ77 4 ай бұрын
Short trips aren’t good for any of engine. But no need to be extra paranoid imo. Turbos have come a very long way since the Japanese like Honda and Mazda started using them. I’ve used Honda’s 1.5T in the Accord and it’s super good and insanely fuel efficient on the highway (46mpg at 50mph). I know another Accord owner with 250k miles and zero issues. Even Toyota has moved to turbo engines now.

Mazda turbos haven't had issues yet and folks have been driving them since 2016 in the cx9. Mazda has done a few things to keep that turbo cool and maintain a higher reliability. Even with normal oil drain intervals. The car care nut is a very smart guy and I have a great deal of respect for him. But Mazda has engineered their way out of turbo issues. Very smart automaker.
