For some reason no one ever gives the other girls any credit for scoring and it drives me nuts. Team's average is 90+, CC average is 30, that leaves over 60 points for the rest of the team to score, and CC is the assist leader. She's got to be passing to someone to make the points and for her to get the assists. The talking heads love to drive the narrative that only CC scores and she is the only reason why Iowa is doing well. We may not have 5 star recruits, but they have skill and teamwork. I love watching them play over other teams.

@@ryanschoenhard7116 They were one of the better teams in their conference for years prior to CC showing up there. Even had a NPOY in Gustafsen a couple years prior to CC. Believe it or not they would be a solid team without her (not vying for championships of course, but potentially making it to the tournament).

Do not forget about Nika Muhl and KK Arnold. With Iowa being a group of members wrapped around a great player like Clark, where Caitlyn is where the majority of the points comes from. On the other side of the ball is you will have Paige along with Aaliyah, Nika, Shade, KK Arnold and Q and of course Ice Brady, a formidable force of which all can score. If Uconn can keep out of foul trouble, I do believe they will come out on top of this match up. jmho/ymmv

Actually the early foul trouble was on KK Arnold first and then Nika Muhl, shortly after. They played more than a half with the four fouls.

It always surprises me when they say that CC's teammates have to step up and score some points. Iowa averages over 90 points a game. CC averages, I think, 29. That leaves over 60 points for the rest of the team to make. They've been stepping up the whole year. Stop doubting them. Yes CC goes on these scoring rampages where she'll score 40 to 50 points, but that still leaves a lot for the rest of them. You can't stop her from doing that when she's on her game. There have been games where Iowa has been shut down, and it's hard for the rest to get touches but other teams have that issue as well. I will give you one thing, when Molly (and I love when Molly was healthy and playing) was playing she seemed to defer to CC too much and the offense suffered. Since Sydney has been in that's changed. Sydney has that extra drive all the time that Molly would show.

UConn recruits not solely on a players basketball abilities, but also on the type of player they are and whether they would be a fit, with their team concept philosophy. So now with me saying that and you see that Caitlin, is basically the nucleus of the Iowa Hawkeye team, could you see how she could have been a fit, at UConn?

Throughout the season Nika Muhl has asked for and got the responsibility, of defending the main scorer, on the opposing team. She has held all comers, to under their average production numbers. If this is the way Geno decides to go and Nika stays out of foul trouble, then it will be a much different type of game.

Mulkey(sp) gave it away, you cant guard Clark. Her best scorers didnt want to be wasted on chasing Clark. Plus foul trouble chances. Her best defenders were supposed to shut down Kate and Gabbie. She was half successful. Go Hawks, beat the Conns!

To me it's the same strategy. Especially with a short roster. Drive on Aaliyah and Paige. Get fouls against them early. Then let the game open up. Box out strong with Addison on anyone trying to dominate under and, try to draw offensive fouls against uconn too. Achieve this and Iowa should seal it with room to spare.😊

Obviously that is all good in theory. UConn could also just try to get CC in foul trouble as well. That would be absolutely devastating to Iowa.

I don’t get why Paige was player of the year in 2021 when Caitlin who was first team all American and co freshman of the year, and the other co freshman of the year wasn’t Paige btw (apparently you can win player of the year as a freshman but not be one of the two different freshman of the year) Caitlin had better stats then Paige across the board, A LOT BETTER! Paige averaged 18 points per game, Caitlin averaged 27! Paige averaged 4 assists, Caitlin averaged 7! And they both averaged 6 rebounds per game although technically Caitlin edged her there also averaging 5.9 per game to Paige’s 5.8…. So can anyone explain why Paige won player of the year and everyone thought she’d become who Caitlin apparently already was?

Edwards, KK, and Shade are much, much better offensively and defensively than their counterparts on Iowa. And Muhl is a better defender. CC is their entire offense, contributing most of the buckets and assists for her team. Her numbers in both areas with be down against UConn, especially assists. And this is the only opponent in which UConn's bench contributed more in their last game.

For the 3 point line, do these two realize that each team gets an equal chance at both ends?.. there isn’t really an advantage..

I have an opposite take on this. For starters some teams rely more on threes than others and therefore would be more screwed by incorrectly painted lines. If you don't know it's wrong you might be naturally shooting long on the short side of the court. If you do know about the line then you might be second guessing your shots if they have the right amount of power. I could see shots coming up short from the short line as players try to adjust by taking a little off their shots.

Regarding Angel Reese and the WNBA; it is my understanding, that once she leaves college and goes professional, she will lose her NIL money. If this is indeed the case, then declaring for the WNBA Draft, will be a big financial letdown.

I'll take UConn's 2021 NPOTY & AA Paige Bueckers, AA Aaliyah Edwards, Nika Muhl and their 5 Star Freshmen any day over Iowa. Defense wins championships and UConn is by far the better defensive team. Just as Terrika stated, Iowa has no one to guard Paige ether BUT UConn has a blueprint to guard Caitlin per their last two matchups against Iowa which UConn won.

Iowa plays defense too, maybe not on UConn’s level, but Uconn isn’t on Iowa’s level when it comes to offense either, and Iowa has one of the greatest female athletes of all time on their roster, Uconn doesn’t.

Can they? Of course you think they can because they did last year and you saw it. However, SC has 3 pt shooters this year which was their weakness last year. We'll see what happens. Both teams gotta get to the finals first.

Ref Caitlin: Geno didn't want her, any more then he did Angel Reese, and for the same reason. She's too full of herself and less a team player than Geno likes. Yes, I'm a Uconn fan, and no, I'm not dissing either one of the young ladies. They've earned it, no doubt, and they can crow if they like. But Geno doesn't like it, plain and simple. He's said it many times: he'd rather lose than play someone who acts like that. I believe him. He sat Nika Muhl during the Tennessee game in her sophomore year, despite she was then one of the best defenders he had. She got mouthy in practice, and she was riding the pine. She learned the lesson, and hasn't sat much since. Would Caitlin or Angel have done that? Yeah, no. Beg leave to doubt. They'd have transferred first. You ladies are free to be down on Geno all you want. I don't care and neither does he. Some days I don't like the rotten SOB either. But give the devil his due: He's a man of his word; he's never bullsh*tted anybody; and when you play for Uconn, it's Geno's way or you don't play. He's also smart enough not to draft anybody who won't do as he says (mostly, anyway; Saylor Poffenbarger leaps to mind recently.)

@@dominictramonte2687 I think it would have more to do with the way that she plays than her attitude. She is very much an impulse player who just does what seems right without a ton of thought. When it works it is exceptional, but when it doesn't she has some awful misses and turnovers. It can also eat at teammates when she has a few terrible shots. It would definitely bother Geno, that's for sure. Can't really argue with his way though, it has been extremely successful.
