So, let’s get this straight. The GM goes to the owner of the Falcons, Arthur Blank, in early March and sells him on the idea that signing Kirk Cousins to 4 years and 180 million dollars is a good idea. I hear him now, “see what Kirk did with Jefferson, we think he will be even better with Kyle Pitts. Don’t worry about his age or his recent major injury.” What then less than two months later, GM goes back to Arthur and says, “We got a real problem at quarterback. Let’s use this 8th overall pick to address that need. It’s our most important need of the year for us.” Either the GM, has some magic dust selling ability or Arthur may be slowing down a little. On another note, early onset dementia is under diagnosed in this country.

“We love Penix jr” that’s what I don’t get. If everyone is high on him, how is it a bad pick? We got 35 year old Kirk recovering from an Achilles. Penix makes a lot of sense. If you want to question why give Kirk 4 years, that’s a totally different discussion and has nothing to do with the quality of their draft.

Spencer Rattler is an F- all damn day long. Dude's terrible. he reminds me of Jameis Winston... all the physical tools necessary but fails miserably at making good decisions with the ball. two years under the single greatest developer of quarterback talent the game's ever seen couldn't fix him. The Aints get a solid C.

@@TheRedStateBlue Do you realize the context he was playing in? The actual team he was playing for? Game isn't all on the qb. But let's say even if he sucks, and is the worst qb ever to hit the league, he was a 5th. But in reality when behind a real o line and real NFL team where he can just be the qb and doesn't have to play hero, he's got a lot of upside and could probably be a solid backup even for the upcoming season, and has the potential to be a starter. Of course, even first round picks especially at QB can bust, so to see how good the draft actually is we'd have to wait it out.

Don’t knock it til you try it. Spencer Rattler might actually make some noise one day in the not so far immediate future. At least he don’t have to live up to the hype of the number 1 overall pick or 8 pick in Caleb Willams and Michael Phenix Jr. . Aside from the Carolina Panthers, I think the NFC South has the potential to be one of the better divisions in the NFL this year. Falcons should be really good on offense but really bad on defense, the Bucs will probably be good on defense and sub par on offense and I expect the saints to be vastly improved from a year ago on both sides of the ball. LETS GEAUX who dat nation!!!

The ONLY way the Penix pick makes sense is if the Falcons don't care about the $$ they are paying Cousins or any future Cap hits...and they also don't care that they COULD have drafted someone else who could step RIGHT IN and be a potential STAR from Day 1...AND they also don't care that Penix will be getting little to ZERO playing experience while he sits for 2-3 years...AND they DON't Care if Cousins AND Penix are both UnHappy...Cousins because he feels duped and Penix because he will not be playing....

@@babyloobibovski2947 We address the issue of needing a QB now, it gives Penix a year to learn NFL system. How it should've been was we don't sign Cousins, we still take Penix at 8, then allow that free money to address the defense side instead. But then that ownership group had Penix Jr no 2 on their boards behind Jayden. If you legit felt other teams could have him ranked that high then there is a chance he is not there at 8, then we would've seen the pick traded to move up to guaranteed him. Kirk makes us better we won't have a good draft pick next 2 yrs. In the long run we are set at QB for 10 yrs, with 180mil invest down. Compare that to Dak in Dallas

Drafting the future QB of the franchise now was genius. If Cousins plays well in a weak division as expected, the Falcons would never be able to draft that high. Not to mention, the Falcons may loose a first round oick for tampering. Turner didn't even go until pick 17 which tells me that hes not the guy to turn the franchise around. They addressed defense in the next few rounds and Kirk has offensive weapons to win now and in a couple years, or sooner, so will Penix.

Either way, sitting behind an MVP type quarterback for a couple years will still allow him to learn and still be young enough to have a long enough career where he can end it at the same age, that Kirk's current contract would end his.

Thank you for taking check-down Charlie and his overblown contract off our hands. Kirk is 16-47 against winning teams, but will still leave your fanbase divided because of his stats. As a Vikes fan, I personally see him as an accurate passer who sells his throws with his eyes. He misses a lot of wide open recievers. REMEMBER I SAID THIS: throughout the course of the game, Kirk may go 5 for 6 or 6 for 6 on any given drive. Amazing right? It looks amazing on a stat sheet but that 5th or 6th completion was on 3rd and long or 3rd and 10 and Kirk chose to dump the ball off for a RB screen pass or a 7 yard pass to a TE who is immediately tackled short of the sticks. At the end of the game, half of the Falcons fanbase is going to look at Kirks stats and say, it's not his fault. They will blame the defense or anything else. The other half will say that Kirk killed 3 successful drives with check downs and the defense looks bad because we don't have the money to spend in free agency. That is gospel and it's your life now as a Falcons fan. From this day forward, you're a deteriating team with a playoff buuble future and a 12% chance of beating anyone who's .500 or better. MNF, TNF are dead to you now. He doesn't play outside of afternoon games on Sunday.

This Was A Great Draft For The Falcons.. They Sured Up A Aging Defensive Line With A Bunch Of Powerful, Long Arm, Quick First Step, Pass Rushers Who Played Multiple Spots On The Line Which Is Good For Match Ups And It Wont Be Unfamiliar For Them To Come In And Do So. And They Got They QB Of The Future And Yes Kirk Cousin Is A Very Good And Capable QB But He’s Old And Just Came Off An Injury, I’ll Give It 2 Years Before Penix Start .. Which Is Basically Kirk Cousins Deal It’s Basically A Two Year Deal

Exactly. They had no plan in place for life after Matt Ryan. Now they do. What’s the worse case scenario, Penix ends up starting some games, Ok. We now have a Hundred million dollar insurance policy in Cousins. The league probably will go to an 18 game season soon. Gonna need 2 quality QB’s. We got the jump on teams. Find me a better QB room in the league.
