I didn’t know that a big man like that could move so fast. I do remember seeing Tony Boselli, the Hall Of Fame offensive lineman was also over 300 lbs and he once ran down a DB to save a TD. Darrell Green wasn’t 300 lbs, but it was how often he ran down some of the best RBs in the NFL at the time. Running down Tony Dorsett and Eric Dickerson was insane at that time. He made several other amazing stops to prevent TDs. That’s why Green was a first selection Hall Of Fame selection in his first year of eligibility. What was really amazing is how far he was behind some of those runners and made up the gap in record time. Green nearly caught world class sprinter Ron Brown, but needed about another 5 yards to close the gap, but Brown made it across the end zone before Green could agh h him. Many times it is claimed that Brown outran Green that day, but if you watch the footage, Green was closing the gap and most definitely would have stopped Brown if there were five more yards before the end zone.

Six times Darrell Green was featured in this video. That just speaks volumes about the kind of career he had. Four times he competed in the Fastest Man In the NFL competition and four times he won. He was the fastest player in the NFL during his long career and may well be the fastest player ever. Darrell played well into his 40s and was still able to compete. He ran a 4.6 forty on his 50th birthday just to prove he could still run faster than most young people playing in the league at that time. He was a first year selection for the NFLHOF and is a legend of the game. The great thing about Darrell was how he was always able to make the tackle after running down some of the fastest running backs of that time. Tony Dorsett and Eric Dickerson had never been chased down and tackled until Darrell Green. The tackle of Dorsett was in Green’s very first game of his career. It was the season opening Monday Night game and Darrell shocked the world by catching Tony and taking him down when everyone thought Dorsett had an easy TD.

Thanks President Bush, for starting a war in Iraq for illegal and made-up reasons to help his corporate benefactors. Thanks for opening up that whole second war that took away the majority of troops, vehicles, armor, helicopters, planes, satellite coverage, bribes, humanitarian aid, spies, and everything in between from Afghanistan that desperately needed additional support to fully rat out the Taliban and keep them gone. Thanks for allowing the actual terrorists to spawn and fester in Afghanistan while your companies like Haliburton rake in the big dollars. Thank you for tricking Americans into serving in the military because they thought they would be fighting for a good cause, and instead it turned out Bush only used them as corporate enriching goons, entirely disposable and discarded once they left service. Thanks for covering up the trauma done to this country and its people by demanding media could no longer cover the caskets coming off the planes because it was too embarrassing to your administration. Thank you for trying to cover up the circumstances of Tillman's death. You were such a good Administration, Bush. We should thank everyone for serving under him to support his and his cronies' interests. Or, maybe, you don't thank people serving in the military because it isn't going to be for a good cause.

I know the Boswell tackle on Erickson was a four-point swing, as the Bengals couldn't punch it in and had to settle for a field goal. @epa316 Oh God, unfortunately my team was on the receiving end of that country ass whipping. What an embarrassing situation. THE ONE SUPER BOWL in the cold. Who gets it? The worst cold weather QB in the NFL. Two points for you: 1. Read Joe Buck's book, Lucky Bastard. He talks about that game. He married a former broncos cheerleader and all week she was bragging (about my team). So then Buck went to do the pregame interviews. The Broncos are all clowning around, being idiots, Manning will score six touchdowns...blah blah. So then he goes to interview the Seahawks. Cam Chancellor walks in like some prison just let him out. Slams a chair down two inches from Buck. Then Sherman, then Thomas, etc... Buck asked, "how will the game go?" Chancellor: "Well, Manning will hit DT across the middle, and Earl is going to smash him right in the fucking ribs. Then Welker will get it and will kill that little MFer." Buck went back home and said, "Your team is going to get the dog piss beaten out of them". 2. On the Marshawn Lynch thing, sore subject, I know. No one ever considers the possibility of Marshawn Lynch fumbling. I did. And it's a closer call than you think. There was about a 6% chance of Wilson throwing an INT, and about a 4.5% chance Wilson or Lynch fumble. It's closer than people think. Plus, isn't it smart to throw when everyone expects run? I don't know. I hate Pete Carroll, like seriously I have pure wrath for that douche canoe, but I don't think it was automatically a bad call. What do you think?
@epa316

@@Mr.MikeBarksdale On #2, Lynch DID run the ball, and got taken down at the 1. He is Beast Mode, but he does get stuffed sometimes, and he does fumble sometimes. I think Brandon Browner on NE’s defense, who had been on the Seahawks team the year before, clued them in to watch out for the slant pass. Belichick is lucky that Butler made that interception, or he would have been roasted for not calling a timeout and preserving some time. But whatever; it was a long time ago. The Ben Watson one is my favorite. Literally ran 100 yards from the opposite side of the field, avoided a referee, and belted Champ Bailey out of bounds before he could score. If the refs called it a touchback it would be the greatest NFL play of all time.
@ltjgambrose
@ltjgambrose 10 ай бұрын
I remember seeing an NFL films thing on that once. Watson said something like "I had a high school coach who told me that sometimes it's not about size or speed, athleticism or talent. Sometimes, if you want to win, you just have to be the one that tries the hardest."

The Larry Allen chase down tackle may be one of the greatest feats by a player in sports history. Larry Allen was a 6’3 325lb offensive lineman! Larry Allen ran a 5.21 40 yard dash. And even crazier, Larry Allen was flat-footed when the ball was picked off!

Sure, but how the heck did he get in this video?? He chases down what looks like a defensive tackle who had only gotten about 25 yards with the ball, moving in slow motion?

I've always said that the difference between NFL and all other levels of football including college is SPEED ! When you routinely see a defensive lineman chase down a running back or wide receiver in the open field, you know you've got to be fast to be there!

Safety wouldn’t have been his best spot. A ton of sped plays corner. Rod Woodson ( we know Green beat him in a race) lost a step and was very good hitter and could pick off a present from Santa. Green and Deon were very fast I’ll take Rod and no one is wrong

what makes larry allen even more goated is the way the announcers immediately deflect from the play's result- interception and cowboys stuck on defense in their own 30 instead it's just both of them going "LARRY ALLLEENNN"
