That's what I love about Nissans.. you get a stylish car pretty darn close to reliability of a Toyota or Honda but for much less money. They are just good value vehicles and I think people appreciate that!
@Jetes233
@Jetes233 5 ай бұрын
C’mon, their CVTs are still trash. Sure, maybe they won’t shit the bed at 40k anymore, but these Nissans aren’t anywhere near as reliable as a Honda or Toyota. They would have to sell this car for $18k for it to be worth buying over a civic that cost $25k

@@Jetes233 I would disagree the failures now are pretty low and I think more people now realize they need to change the CVT fluid 30,000 to 50,000 and you can get pretty good life. I have a Versa with 100,000 miles CVT no issues. I changed with Amsoil CVT fluid and will test it to see how many miles I can get!

Wayyyy nicer than the Corolla. The SE is the price equivalent to this and it doesn't have heated seats / steering wheel, remote start, wireless charging. The dash is miles nicer too. Look at the Corolla gauges, worst I've ever seen in a modern vehicle period. Plus the Corolla has fake exhaust tips. Reliability is about equal these days

Minus nissans CVT issue on its cheaper cars, this car is an absolute gem. Not everyone needs a speced out lexus to drive to the local farmers market and just want something that is nice, moves you, and works. Nissan is the only brand I can think of that actually follows this rule, and on the cheaper cars the CVT may just be worth it, a little bit.

I think Nissan just needs to start over with the Sentra. This is the SR model and it’s somewhat alright but still far from how nice the Corolla and the Civic looks. I rented one of these years ago and it was the one where they had the front wheel well arc pronounced towards the hood. I was flooring it on California freeways and other cars were still passing me by. I never understood why Nissan insisted on that design as they had it on all their vehicles. I get that it’s an affordable option but even as a rental, it wasn’t even mildly enjoyable to drive.
@IWeasel
@IWeasel 8 ай бұрын
They didn’t change much on the 2024 Sentra I think they should’ve made it more sleeker and sexier. All they did was mess up the front end and made it look like a versa lol / Altima and took away the fog lights added butt ugly rims and still hadn’t brought back the led taillights all they did was added a out of date 360 camera system. They should’ve and could’ve included more safety features change the interior color scheme something other then the orange and black or in this case the black / orange. Added a larger touchscreen display and an all digital gauge cluster and redesigned the led headlights and included sports pedals and rear a/c and added at least he didn’t ventilate his seats for the front. I brought my 2023 Nissan Sentra SR Midnight Edition in August of this year and it has the optional Aspen White Tricolor paint with the super black painted roof and the grill is blacked out and it even has a fake little sport tailpipe lol but I didn’t choose the premium package because I felt that it didn’t add much value all you got was leather seats and a sunroof and a Bose system that may or may not sound good cause all Bose systems don’t sound good. But I did add the additional electric package that adds the extra usb port for the backseat passengers which is useless cause can’t nobody fit in the backseat but my fury baby lol as as for as gas mileage they didn’t improve anything for 2024 because I’m getting 334 miles that’s a full tank I may avg in city driving 30.6 miles that’s if I’m using eco mode and my feet still has to be very light oh and one other thing my Sentra midnight edition package also gave me the black gloss rims I had my car for almost 5 months at first my gas mileage wasn’t the greatest it would only give me 320 miles on a full tank of gas and and it would burn quickly but now since she’s broken in I’m getting 334 on a full tank and I avg about 30.6 in the city if I’m using eco which really cuts a lot of the power so if you plan on getting up to speed don’t stomp the gas because their cvts are slow so ease into it and it will get up to speed quickly and if you want a more lively feel and a snapper response press the sport mode button but it does burn gas quicker I’m happy with my purchase my seats are suede and cloth with the orange stitching in my dash has orange stitching as well

When my oldest daughter got her first car I decided to get her a Nissan instead of a Honda...I am a dedicated Honda driver and have used Honda's exclusively since 2000. The first week she drove the Nissan she had a deer accident that totaled her Nissan. The attending policeman was shocked by the damage to her car...it literally nearly broke in half when she slid into a concrete drain on the side of the road. I've owned, 2000, 2001, and 2006 Honda Accords and driven them well over 200,000 miles each and am still driving my 2001 3 liter V6! I found the Nissans I've driven to be made with cheap materials and easily broken. If my opinion I've never seen any car nearly break into two after an accident with a deer. Toyota and Honda's designers ,at least here in North America, must be on drugs or something. Cars look terrible. They also have their share of problems, especially Honda, but self-proclaimed "experts" keep recommending them for obscure reasons. They are seriously overpriced and their dealers are usually not willing to negotiate. You get better resale value ? Yeah right, but you paid a lot more in the first place, so where's the gain ? It's true that Nissan had more than its share of problems with the CVT, but it's also true that a lot of those experiencing those issues have neglected doing the proper maintenance (like changing the oil at the prescribed interval. Since then Nissan's CVT has become more reliable. Overall I feel the Nissan offers just as much or more for less money, and the buying experience is a lot more pleasant for a start. For some reason self-proclaimed "experts" will always bash the same brands (Nissan, Mitsubishi, Land Rovers) no matter how good their products are in reality, and will keep promoting brands (Honda, Subaru and others) that have more than their share of serious problems).

IIHS rated the headlights poor, below marginal, acceptable and good, for all trims, and got really bad for updated side test and updated moderate overlap. Better off with a Mazda3 or Corolla or Civic, unless safety and headlights aren't on the top of your list.
@1PokerMan
@1PokerMan 9 ай бұрын
These types of tests only apply up to 37mph or 60km/h, and there are few that crash at that speed, generally 80% of crashes are at much higher speeds and neither Corolla nor Civic protect you, so it's the same, Just because IIHS rates the Sentra's headlight as "deficient" doesn't mean your safety is at risk.
@igotanimac1
@igotanimac1 9 ай бұрын
@@1PokerMan Wrong. 37 mph and a 4,200 pound barrier is common/average today, updated from the previous original side test which was done at 31 mph and 3,300 pound barrier. Not sure where you're getting '80% of crashes happen at much higher speeds". Crash definitely happen at higher speeds but they use the average. So crashes at higher speeds or weight would still mean that the Civic/Corolla would perform much better than the Sentra at any speed and therefore much less chance of death/injury. It's not the same. The Sentra got marginal driver head protection in updated side test vs Good head protection for Civic/Corolla, which can mean the difference between severe head trauma/death in Sentra vs nothing at all from Civic/Corolla. Crashes at higher speeds than 37 mph in updated side test would mean certain death for Sentra and chance of survival with injury with Corolla/Civic. Same for the updated moderate overlap. The Sentra got poor and marginal for head/neck and chest vs good for Corolla/Civic, which again means the difference between death and minor injury. Poor rated headlights definitely can put you and others at risk. Poor rated headlights provide very poor visibility, which means you can't see as well, which means higher chance that you crash, which means you're putting yourself and others more at risk vs having good rated headlights.

These are ok but the transmission is the deal breaker for me , now the Honda Civic is more expensive but it also holds its value because of the components and superior build quality or in other words you get what you pay for . It’s the same with Toyota Corolla and I believe the older Nissan cars going back to Datsun had quality closer to there competition but Nissan just isn’t in the same league as Honda and Toyota are now . Nissan is an ok car but what keeps it from being outstanding for the price is a lack of a standard transmission and the fact that there CVT transmission is just so bad as far as quality and longevity go and they need to refine some of the design in the interior of there cars .

Had several family members with Nissans. They all had transmission failures under 100,000 miles. CVT transmissions are just garbage. Nissan has good looking cars and the engines are decent. But I would never buy one.

Years 2019 to current had low CVT failure rates compared to prior years. Did you know Nissan's engines were always the best in the car business for decades? Where did you get decent? Do some research on how stout Nissan engines are compared to other brands,.
