Denise and Jurrian would make a super star couple, lol. Both resident economic historians who are absolutely brilliant in financial markets. This was the single best Market Outlook I've ever watched. Thank you ALL for doing this. I've been a Fidelity customer since I was 25 years old (over 20 years ;) ), and educational programs like this will always keep me coming back for more. Wishful thinking given that no asset manager is paid for a negative view of the economy these people are paid on commissions

You’re confusing advisors with portfolio managers. Portfolio managers are not paid commission. If that’s your train of thought, which is valid then everyone getting paid by a company has a conflict of interest which makes their line of reasoning discreditable. To be clear, I don’t disagree on that entirely, but what that infers in a need for a gigantic systemic overhaul.

The idea that $6 trillion is in money market funds on the sidelines waiting to buy stocks is a very poor argument for why stocks should go higher, because these same investors are holding over $100 trillion in equities/bonds. That is the equivalent of a 5% cash position in the average investor portfolio.

Actually, it's a great reason to believe it. There are a lot of people who have cash earning over 5%, waiting to see what happens. As interest rates start dropping, that cash will, and has historically, moved into equities.

@@jdgolf499 Investors hold $6 trillion in cash but they hold over $100 trillion in equities/bonds, which means the average portfolio is 95% in equities/bonds and 5% in cash. Historically, money market funds go up over time and have no predictive ability nor any correlation with any bull or bear market.
