Hey Brother. Keep holding these companies accountable. There's no way there should be a 21fps difference in speeds. Even the 10fps you graciously give the companies is almost too much in my opinion. To me, if the bow is in spec, it should be within 5fps. Allowing for the variations in chronographs. There's no reason a bow should leave the factory without being in spec and shooting the advertised speeds. Thanks again for another awesome review.

Another great review. Speed seems way off. I'm curious what let off was used. For the Matthews Lift review you added 4 fps because you were using the 85% vs 80% mod. Was this Prime RVX set at 85%, and if so, how would that change if you dropped it down to 75%? I still doubt it would be within 10 fps of IBO, but it may be closer. Also, you keep bringing up that you don't understand the swerve in the lower riser being on the same side as the offset portion of the upper riser. Prime has been doing this for years and has clearly stated it's to mirror/balance out vibration between the top and bottom. I'm also not confident that putting the swerve on the other side of the bow would make it more balanced. If the offset weight above the grip is on the right and the offset weight below the hand is on the left, I could see the bow canting more to the right. You could say that lower/side-mount stabilizers are used to this effect, but stabilizers shouldn't be used to correct canting or other form issues; they're used to slow bow movement.

watching these reviews makes you wonder what the point of even listing an IBO speed is... It seems to be entirely normal for bows to be 10-20 fps, or even more, lower than their listed speeds. And there doesn't seem to be any sort of consequences for that. When Mathews/Hoyt/Bowtech/PSE release a new bow and say it shoots 340 fps, but its actually more like 325, the folks who are going to buy those bows are still going to buy those bows regardless. People don't care that the listed IBO speed is a load of bologna, but those same people would be outraged at a new bow release if the manufacturer ACTUALLY had the stones to give a real world speed rating. A new bow that is listed at 340 but only shoots 325 will sell way better than a bow listed at 325 that shoots 325. Like he mentions in the video, I'm sure these brands basically put the bows in a "vacuum" environment to get these speeds, knowing full well customers don't, won't, and can't use them that way. You can take the bow and shoot it with no D-loop or peep, using an arrow with no fletchings, using a target style rest that has almost no contact points, using thinner strings, and put it thru a dozen different chronographs 100 different times and all they have to do is see one of them light up with 342 ONCE to be able to list the bow as 342.
@nbond1980s7 ай бұрын
I dont want to harp on it but it think its fair to bring up that while this bow deserved its low rating for speed. You gave the Mathews bow a 4 out of 5. And it was 15 fps slower than advertised but you gave it an extra 4 fps because of a mod that isnt even available yet. But you gave the elite that was 19 fps slow a 1.

@@kevinwiser2416 It’s always best to shoot any bow yourself due to subjectivity. I like watching reviews because you can’t find a shop that carries all offerings. I remember on Archery Talk several years ago when the Omen first came out, people were talking about that the draw was butter, and the best bow they ever shot. I shot it personally due to those raves. Result, tore my rotor cuff off its base on one of the worst drawing bows out there at the time. It literally had no valley and if you breathed while at full draw it would take off on you. It did me, and I have lived with a detached rotor cuff ever since. My shoulder was injured before that but the Omen finished the job

It's always the same with IBO speeds... That speed is tested for 82 lb bow, 400gn and the max DL, in this case 30.5" . I think you need to evaluate your vibration meter. When it’s so different from shot to shot, bow to bow. As you said about this bow, how you could feel residue vibration that took a while to dissipate and it had a better rating on your meter than the Mathew’s Lift which you said was pretty dead in hand. When you used to do it by “feel” it was more accurate.

Maybe have a written rating system like 10 to 13 is a 4, 14 to 17 is a 3, 18 to 20 is a 2 and 20 plus is a 1. Plus you should set the bows to a true 30” when testing, rather than leaving them at 30 1/4 or 30 1/2. That way we get the real speed! I’m just as critical as Josh. Ha
