Nice and fair review bro! Glad you're also covering low- and midrange TVs, as not everyone has several thousands of $ to spend on a TV. Seems like a good TV for ordinary and older folks who just watch basic SDR cable/news/streaming 👍. This is more common then us enthusiasts think - even though we tend to live in a high peformance bubble at times 🤓.

Much appreciated! Yeah I know this is an overlooked series it doesn’t get a ton of reviews and there are definitely better TVs from last year for the money but they aren’t as feature rich. I also know there are some people who are only locked into certain brands for whatever reason, or they are locked into certain sizes this has so many size choices so that is nice. You get a lot of cool features like cloud gaming too so I thought reviewing the first entry point into a Samsung QLED is a must this year.

KG can you tell me your opinion of this tv being edge lit compared to purchasing a back lit tv in the same price range? Better? Worse? Not an issue? Advise, thanks!!
@TechWithKG
@TechWithKG 3 ай бұрын
By backlit do you mean direct lit or full array local dimming? Edge and direct are pretty comparable. Full array will be much better contrast but blooming can definitely be an issue with some TVs at the Q60 price point as they have lesser zones and/or a less than ideal dimming algorithm unless you get a steal on a good TV. Also at the price point you won’t be getting good HDR from any TV depending on the size you’re looking at, again some sizes do have better deals from competitors for sure.
@garrettstrutz7421
@garrettstrutz7421 3 ай бұрын
Edge lit is by far the worse much worse than direct lit. Full array local dimming is by far the best by far. U should honestly try to stay away from edge lit TV’s. As far as Samsung goes u really shouldn’t buy anything less than the Q80 series and up, I wouldn’t recommend it. Samsung makes awesome TV’s and crap TV’s they got one for everybody but I would stick with the Q80 and up

@@garrettstrutz7421 > In the 43-inch size, you do not get Samsung TV with what you say unless, in 43-inch, a 1100$ canadian $. But anyway there will be so few true HDR content in TV networks and specialized cable channels, that people are sold things, functions that they will not be able to use... And if HDR, most people won't like it, they'll watch it with HDR off. HDR isn't the same as 4K...

After 2-3 full weeks of trying everything, I was finally able to light, color & tint set my QLED Q60C 43-inch Samsung (2023 model) a product in that year, NOT color-validated, NOT color-standardized. Had to try hours and hours with the white balance, had to remove about 80% of all green and then put red and blue to 100%. I kept the TV cause it was then a good product. Minor: 3 months of viewing different contents like Law And Order or TV series, I see now on certain darker images a clear problematic oversaturation of pixels by black and by colors on the dark image, but only the 1 second when it fades away to be followed by images with more light. (This oversaturation, It lasts just one second, and not on all darker images). I wonder if this oversaturation then with somewhat just a bit older contents could be caused not by the TV, but by the transfer process of the original files to another broadcasting format (re-mastering) or another kind of file format, through a software?

What other 32 inch tv would you recommend? Most reviews say this is the best you can get. I don't know If I'm being swayed by all the mediocre reviews of this tv and the edge lighting but I don't like the picture. Its either too dark or too bright or there is a green tint. Tried all kinds of settings. My 10 year old samsung LED 32 inch looks more natural. Perhaps I'm used to it. This new Qled model's picture seems to look different on every type of program. Would I be better getting a really good older model of some brand...if there is one?

I bought this and sent it back. My 10 year old samsung that broke looked better. This model is the worst tv you can buy. I know it costs more. but sent that back and got an LG C3 it's another world. This samsung model is a lemon, period. I tried every picture setting possible. Samsung even took it over and I dared them to make it viewable. They couldn't'. Have to calibrate for everything you watch. Yes, it looks vibratnt and bright with certain pictures but overall it cannot handle general watching. You can't even read titles cause they are either super bright or have a green tint depending on which horrible setting you use. Pro calibrators on reddit also warn you that this model is a big mistake!@@TechWithKG

My current mission is to buy a 42-43inch TV for the bedroom, it will certainly be the least used screen in the apartment but I don’t want to be distracted by a poor image. “Good” or good enough image quality will be fine, I’m not so unrealistic to think that I’d be getting a flagship image for these prices, or even as good as and equivocal Hisense or TCL at the same price, but features will weight more for me as I’ll get into in a second. Do you think HDR will be distractingly bad, with that kind of qualifier in mind? To that end, features will be the decision maker. I will have everything in the house Ethernet connected so I’m hoping that PS and Xbox remote play (and maybe SOME GeForce now streaming) being supported as a tentpole feature of the tv means that with their implementation is better than some TV’s I’ve used in the past (my Hisense Xbox remote play is just BAD) as I’ll certainly be giving it the most optimal environment with the direct connection. Games I’d play in the bedroom would definitely not be intense fps games but probably more casual types. I also heard Samsung TV’s support Philips hue and I happen to have my whole house and room set up with that as well. Streaming sticks and Apple TV always have a hole when it comes to support for these things,and tizen seems to support al of them natively. I also have a spare Sonos soundbar to make up for the speakers. I think that remote play for ps and Xbox do not offer HDR support either way, so I’ll put less stock in that but still, if I watch say across the spiderverse and it looks distractingly WORSE in HDR than it would in SDR then, maybe I’d hold off for good sales for a better TV but my budget probably won’t budge from $500 give or take $50. But if it’s more of “It doesn’t look better than SDR at times but can at least look good at others” then that’s probably good enough for me.
@TechWithKG
@TechWithKG 2 ай бұрын
You can get away with HDR and HDR won’t be terrible looking it just won’t wow you much or be very bright because of the brightness capability it’s just not there with a tv in this tier, that said SDR is great and will be plenty bright for a lot of people.
