Had the 300 Mini & Brnr, great club if you struggle off the tee to find fairways. Distance wise found the 300mini to be about a 2 wood and the Brnr about 1.5 wood compared to driver distance. The 11.5 works great if you want a driver replacement and play a 5 wood as your next strongest club, the 13.5 works great as a 3 wood replacement.

I recently purchased the 11.5 Degree. I was using using a Cobra F9 Driver and a D915 D2 Driver which i used to go back on foward on as i was never happy with either, The Cobra seemed longer but more inconsistant and the titliest was never great in distance but was the best in control( Both were 65 gram shafts and both 9.5 degree.... 3 weeks later they are now paper weights!!! The Mini Driver is nearly straight off the tee for me every time, light fades, massive reduction in the slicing!!! I am around a 22 Handicapper and have always struggled with driver. My swing speed is around 95mph. I litterally hit around 220m average and im hitting 80% fairways. Also I use off the deck on par 5's with great results too!!! $740 AUD But its the best driver i have ever owned hands down!!!!!!!!!!

Something not a lot of people talk about...us short guys! I'm only 5'4" tall. Modern drivers that are 460cc are just completely unplayable for me. That's like shoving a modern, adult size club into a 12 year olds hand. It's probably just mental, but looking down at a 460cc club head when I have a 27" inseam and I'm THAT much closer the ground already...0 confidence. I'm a 3 handicap and my 3 wood goes just as far as my driver already. These 300cc mini drivers are total driver replacements for me. I lose 0 distance but gain confidence and much tighter dispersion. Average just over 100mph swing speed with driver and + 4.0º attack angle.

I just got one. Last year I was fitted for a Callaway Rogue St Max but the 460ccs is just so huge, I have a hard time controlling it. My precious gamer was an early 2000s Big Bertha driver. The smaller size plus modern materials tech is a game changer for me. I did reshaft it; VA Composites Nemysis. Counter balanced shafts really work for me.

I have last years and I was intrigued by it initially, the 11.5 is a monster off the tee, hitting off the fairway is great if the fairway is soft but don't bother if the ground is hard, you will have several worm burners. :D

I went with it and love it. And it has nothing to do with being a big hitter. I hit it straight off the tee. I lose about 10-15 yards off my big head driver, but I spray that thing all over. So, I then gapped to this mini driver, a 5 wood and a 7 wood. It has given me a ton of flexibility and taken a lot of penalties off my scorecard. Did I say that I love it?

There is a surprisingly high number of people that are like you. Many golfers hit down on both their driver and their fairway woods, and to achieve optimal distance you need to hit up on your driver. For that reason, many recreational golfers (and even accomplished players) find they can hit a low -lofted fairway wood nearly as far as their driver. If that’s the case for you, this could be an excellent option. - DD
@dobermanownerforlife39024 ай бұрын
@@DavidDusek I'm not so worried about distance as much. Let's be honest. If a hole isn't over 500 yards, the driver might not be the best option.

There must be a lot of young golfers looking at the Mini . The CC’s are still larger than the heads we played after our persimmons became obsolete. But I’ve struggled year after year with modern drivers. UNTIL I said screw it and cut 2” off all the drivers in the garage . Now I’m finding fairways more often and hitting sane distance if not longer than the guys I play with. Before you spend the cash it can’t hurt to try cutting down your driver shaft . Side note: My Mavrik , X16 and TSI3 and Ping G410 I cut them all down. On fast rolling fairways the TSI3 goes far for me . The Ping G410 carries higher and goes good on slow fairways . So shafts stiffness will make a difference. TSI3 is Black stiff. Others are regular.

Such great info. Sounds like I just need to accept 240 yards is out of reach to make par 5s in two and work on my 5W until I’m comfortable enough to go for it with a 3W.
@DavidDusek4 ай бұрын
Pros and elite players chose to go for it from long range on par 5s because they know they can get up-and-down for birdie (or par at worst) because they have great short games. Most recreational golfers need to avoid penalty shots, reduce short-side misses and stop leaving the ball in spots that make saving par difficult. Instead of going for it from 240, why not hit a 9-iron or something else 140, then a wedge as your third shot from around 100 yards? In that situation, you give yourself a chance at birdie and probably walk away with par. The worst thing would be a three-putt and a bogey. If you go for it and miss badly, anything can happen. Strive for more distance, but play smart. - DD
@ZahraIsMyDog4 ай бұрын
@@DavidDusek Thanks! I agree 9i and wedge are money from 240, but what do you think about all the stats that say even people that shoot mid-80's shouldn't layup and hit from "preferred distances?" Of course not being silly is #1.
@DavidDusek4 ай бұрын
@@ZahraIsMyDog It depends on the hole and where the trouble is. For instance, if there is water in front of a green that you might struggle to carry, lay up. If the trouble is in the back of the green, go for it. If going for it and missing short means hitting off a downhill lie but laying up puts you on a flat lie, lay up. The stats don't lie, but you have to know your strengths, weaknesses and tendencies ... and then play to your strengths whenever possible. If you are lousy at chipping and pitching, why knowingly hit shots that lead to more 10 to 30-yard shots? If you are a bad bunker player, never hit a shot that could wind up in the sand. Etc. DD

Hi David, question as a newer golfer. I’m someone that struggles mightily with 3 wood, and I’m very slice-y with my standard driver. Off the tee, do you think this is easier to control than a standard driver? Off the deck, I’m thinking if you got the 13.5 model and lofted it up at the hosel, it would close the face a bit, get it to a traditional 3w loft, and then would the increased size/mass of the club make it easier to launch?
@DavidDusek4 ай бұрын
Mike, every golfer is a little different, but broadly speaking, I think most new players will benefit more from the size of a driver's face and the stability that a driver can offer off the tee. A mini driver (or traditional 3-wood) will have a shorter shaft, which makes it more controllable, but if you mis-hit a 3-wood there will be less forgiveness than when you mis-hit a driver. For new players and high-handicap golfers, it's all about increasing consistency. That said, adjusting a mini driver's loft up and turning it into a traditionally-lofted 3-wood will make it easier to hit than a traditional 3-wood off the tee because, again, the face is bigger. The mini driver will also have a higher moment of inertia and more stability. Adding loft, as you noted, will also close the face, so it could decrease the severity of a slice. However, off the turf, a traditional 3-wood could be easier to hit because the face height is lower. Deep-faced (or tall) fairway woods can be tough to hit solidly for less-experienced golfers. - DD

Great review cool looking club. I love my Stealth 2 driver, 3 wood and hybrids am wondering if this would be a good addition. I’m a senior 16 handicapper. My iron swing speed is 74 mph.
@DavidDusek4 ай бұрын
It's almost impossible for me to say without seeing your swing and only knowing your club head speed. Find a good custom fitter and see how it performs. I suspect that your club head speed might be a bit slow, and that if you want something to maximize carry and overall distance, a fairway wood with more loft could work better. That said, a 13.5-degree Mini Driver Copper cranked up to 15.5 degrees thanks to the adjustable hosel could be interesting. Let me know what you learn. - DD

@GolfAddict65 I would go with the TaylorMade BRNR mini driver 13.5 loft. Because you have 90+ mph swing speed you should get plenty of distance plus this driver is forgiving and accurate. I have the TM BRNR mini driver 13.5 and adjusted to 15.5 loft using it for tee shots and off the fairway provided it has a very good lie. I have 83 mph swing speed and struggle to generate speed/whip with a 460cc driver so tried this '3-wood on steroids' club and its working good for me.

I think it belongs in my bag. I can't hit a 3w very well off the deck. I hit my 5w further than when I test out 3w's. The only time I would hit a 3w is from the tee, and this would seem to have a bit more forgiveness due to its size. Would I be right in thinking that?
@DavidDusek3 ай бұрын
I think you're on the right track. This is designed to be an alternative to a driver for accomplished players, but I think a lot of golfers could use it when their driver might bring in danger. And yes, it's size makes it much straighter and more forgiving than a typical 3-wood. - DD

If memory serves me correctly, Taylor needs started using titanium and burner drivers around 1995. If you had a 1994, that was most likely stainless steel. The 2024 titanium BRNR Mini Driver Copper will be significantly longer than anything made with stainless steel, and significantly more forgiving.
