Toyota really doesn't need to advertise this vehicle. People who buy these vehicles know exactly what they are all about and know exactly what they want in a vehicle. Nobody accidentally ends up in a 4Runner.

I did. Never drove anything but a Chevy my whole life. Was looking for a manual transmission 4 door suv for winter. Found a 98 4runner sr5 5speed. It's too nice for a winter vehicle. But now I'm hooked. We liked it so much, we ordered a 24 trd off road premium.

This is an apples/oranges comparison. The Wrangler is an off-road vehicle first that is street legal. The 4 runner is a rural family vehicle that is capable off-road. Two different vehicles.

What about the Solid Front Axle in the Jeep you fail to mention, also Triple Locking Differentials as an option, removable doors and roof, Auxiliary ready ports for accessories. Toyota lost the way where they had great off-roaders and now just money focused and don’t listen to their customers. Exhibit A: No 300 Series in U.S., No more split tailgate. Less performance Land Cruiser Prado in the U.S., NO Diesel option, No 3rd row seats. Jeep Wrangler did not stop or change, Toyota had the FJ40 which would be an actual competitor to Wranglers but decided not to keep it or even bring it back.

How times have changed. Before, the wrangler was in a class of its own and the 4runner competed against the Jimmy, blazer, pathfinder, rodeo, trooper as all of these were body on frame smaller SUV's. I still say they don't compare to each other and now, the 4runner is in a class of its own while the wrangler needs to battle with the bronco.

I actually was excited by the wired Apple Car play….It just functions better and doesn’t do annoying crap sometimes like having Apple CarPlay connecting wirelessly automatically all the time.

The 4Runner is very capable, the only thing I would say is the Rubicon would probably do a way better job with extreme off-roading such as razor rocks. You can place a larger tire without custom lift on a Rubicon which would provide better clearance as well I think the Rubicon 2 door would have better approach and descent clearance. But, for an every day person who doesn't go climb rocks for fun the 4Runner would be my choice.

@TwinkanPD in reality..unless one owns a fleet...gas mileage and costs are relatively insignificant. 17..18..19 mpg versus 24...it isn't going to change anyone's life. If one can afford a $60,000 USD vehicle then what is a few hundred $ a year extra on gas...at most.🤷‍♂️. People worry about 5 MPG then stop at Starbucks and pay $8 for a coffee. Buy a used Prius to drive daily.

@@Reindeer_Games going from 16mpg to 26mpg, at 5$ a gallon regular and 10k miles per year, that’s ~$1202 saved on gas per year. Quite substantial

@TwinkanPD That is about 150 Starbucks runs 🤣...I'll take the 6 cyl. Probably less because I get about 17 mpg in my 2004 SR5 and let's see what the 4 cyl gets. Good discussion though as I still would consider the new Land Cruiser. No aversion to EVs, etc but I've had an IS300 and the 4Runner with 6 cyl...and have been bullet proof. I just think people over estimate gas costs and ignore coffee..bottled water..cigarettes...booze..etc. And once out of California gas prices are lower. Average US gas priced are now $3.35 per gallon.

Not really comparable, but only vehicle from Toyota that would be close to wrangler . Wish Toyota brought back FJ , 2 and 4 door s , removable top etc

Now, with the new 4Runner no compromises since jeep is the competition the new version needs Better break over better approach, angle, better departure, angle, better ground clearance, bigger, tire options and try to keep the same wheelbase or smaller. Fyi all love Toyota keep up the great work guys in girls ❤

@@1996ChevroletImpalaSS people act like Jeeps break down every 5 seconds, you can get 250,000 miles out of one pretty easily. I've seen it multiple times now. I'd rather own a Wrangler that is built with quality in mind and has better tech, rather than owning another extremely outdated crap box they call a "4runner" just not my cup of tea, it's not an appealing vehicle.

At this point these fanboys will keep supporting the 4R with the typical reliability argument even if it comes out with a 6L V8 with 100 HP and 10 mpg, with a cassette player & roll up windows. Jeeps or pretty much most other makes out there are pretty good if maintained well.

@@anoop4243 exactly, and I'm also looking at it competitively. The 4Runner is far too outdated to compete. I mean we're to a point where Jeep gives you more engine options, and one of them being a hybrid platform, the other being a 470 horsepower V8.

I would not change the 4runner until the landcruiser and mini landcruiser comes out for a few years, and change it like in 2026, or even up to 2028. If it is selling solidly, why change it? This way you have a couple year for landcruiser to come out, and you can bring 4cylinder and maybe TRD PRO V6 6th generation model at a later date. 2026 Emissions standards will force 4cylinder models, I would delay this and keep selling this model until it slows down. Long live the fifth gen v6 model. I think the New 4runner should be higher trim than the current landcruiser 250, and it should directly go against the Big bronco and Wrangler. This is how I would market the next 4runner. Bring two engines, 4cylinder, 4cylinder hybrid and V6 TRDPRO 6th Generation.

Imagine being the head of Toyota and not realizing that the reason people pick the less reliable Jeep Wrangler (to the tune of 60,000 more sales in 2023) over a 4runner is that the top comes off. 🤷🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️ People want to take their convertibles to the beach and on trails with the top off. Bronco found this out rather quickly. That truck sold very fast once it hit the market. Only slowed by recent reliability issues. (See the opportunity here?)

Absolutely NOT leave that to Jeep….That’s absolutely NOT what the 4 Runner is all about….There are many reasons the 4 Runner is the better vehicle and smoother and quieter and cooler looking….That soft top ain’t wanted at allll by this guy and many other consumers….Anyone who is excited by a Wrangler over a 4 Runner is a totally different person

⁠⁠@@briandorsey6437people choose the more unreliable Jeep due to its fun factor. Same with the bronco. With Toyota making the Rav-4, highlander, grand highlander, land cruiser, sequoia, 4 runner, corrola cross all with 4wd/awd, Toyota is canibalizing their own sales with so many offerings. But not one single beach cruiser convertible. They could clean up in that catergory. I just had a friend trade in his almost new Tacoma for a Bronco because its a capible convertible. The 4 runner started as an experiment which the result became super reliable and pretty collectable. Time for Toyota to make a fun SUV again and for this guy, the top should come off. 🤷🏼‍♂️

4runner needs a solid front axle. Have had more issues with my FJ's ifs over one summer of wheeling vs my wrangler on 37's with 5 years of wheeling!

4Runner has so many advantages as a 4x4 body on frame SUV, Bullet proof Engine and Transmission, Higher Resale value, Superior Reliability history and more practical for daily driving and off roading considering it has more space for passengers and cargo. The Wrangler will only beat it in super extreme off roading which can be heavily debated, otherwise 4Runner wins in every category.

Here is the thing …no one can deny 4Runners reliability and long life. However most people don’t buy 4Runners to keep them forever. 4Runners are no boring and very limited on what you can do to them. Take note you can’t really lift a 4Runner without an 80% chance of ruining or breaking front wheel suspension components. They are both great choices but I chose fun , less limitations and truly being able to go virtually anywhere. I keep my vehicles till around 100k and then trade them in so I pick the gladiator

Which 4Runner has a plug in hybrid? Solid front axle? Front locker? Amazing subwoofer with killer bass? Removable top? Rock sliders? Ability to easily run 37” tires? Got it… none. I will keep enjoying my awesome 4xe Rubicon thanks.

@@christopherwaits7852 I own a lot of cars. Currently the two 4x4s are a lifted Tacoma on 33” tires, front and rear locker and regeared to 5.29. Guessing you don’t know what any of that means, but it’s man-speak for “I use my vehicles for their intended purpose.” My other 4x4 is a Wrangler Rubicon, which is infinitely better in every way. Both can run the same trails, and do most of the same things, but the family and I prefer the Jeep in every situation unless we need the truck.

People who buy trucks like these, puke when they see the blind side and LiDAR sensing tech, it’s just garbage. We do not care about the audio/gps tech as toyota doesn’t have anything worth having. Jbl is junk, when compared to even a Bose audio. Display Graphic is junk too. Toyota should look at audio and design interior in a similar way with more quality. On the flip side, current v6 4.0 4runner is still the best SUV hands down, next to Yukon, unless one needs a 3row vehicle. Now, if Toyota will release new T4R with a turbo 4cyl gasoline engine = 🤢 🤮.

Toyota forgot to mention.... Horrible mpg, slow to 60, archaic ride... Outdated design.. I have been waiting for the new 4runner but Toyota is way to slow and I know have a Bronco
