Triumph have just revealed a new Special Edition Trident 660, called the Triple Tribute, and commemorating the ‘Slippery Sam’ five-time TT wining Trident between 1971 to 1975. Basically we’re seeing a cool unique styling version of the Trident 660, that comes standard with a quickshifter to sweeten the deal, along as with a few styling components.
This is a special or limited edition, and Triumph here in Australia are encouraging people to get their name down on one ASAP to avoid missing out. Pricing is $14,990, or an extra $750 over the regular version. You can nab yourself a MY23 for $1K off at the moment though, so that may be worth considering of the Aussies watching, the standard orange looks wicked if you ask me. Yes, it’s LAMS only, just like the existing 660. You’ll need to wait for the Daytona 660 for a full power version.
Unique to the Triple Tribute edition is the white, blue and red derived racing scheme, including #67 numbering. It’s an elegant styling exercise, but it does work, and catches the eye. Nice little bonuses are the bellypan and colour matched flyscreen, further cleaning up the look of the bike.

I bought the orange 2023 Trident and really enjoy it. However at purchase I also purchased the Trident frame sliders for protection. 7 weeks later I am still waiting for the sliders from Trident Australia and within 1 week I have had delivered the Dart flyscreen from England which in my opinion I think is better flyscreen along with the radiator screen from England and a Japanese helmet lock from Japan. I am still waiting 7 weeks from Triumph Australia in Victoria who don't answer my email after 3 days . When contacting the dealer who I bought it from and was very happy with their service however their reply is that it is on back order. Think seriously about parts from Triumph Australia before you buy. Hopefully this helps them get their act together and respect customers who would like the frame protectors

Looks great.I got the Black with White decals version in NZ 🇳🇿.I ordered it with Triumph frame sliders $330, Bobbins $50 & Quick Shifter $630 which is a must & would get that rather than Triumph Connectivity $500 & module $250 or Tyre Pressure Sensors $500. I also got Evotech Tail tidy which improves looks & Radiator guard.Hepco Becker Grab Rail which loops around the seat & looks better than Triumph grab rails.I also splashed out big time & sent away to Brittain for the Ermax Nose fairing which is colour coded to my bike & bike looks awesome now especially with tyre hugger removed for tail tidy & Ernax Nose fairing.

I got a video of bike with mods looks heaps better than stock but looks stock.With Evotech tail tidy & Hepco Becker Grab Rail Trident 🔱 doesn't look like a Rottweiler anymore & I get looks everywhere I go cause it looks stock with colour coded Ermax Nose Fairing.I get other Trident 🔱 owners asking me questions about the Hepco Becker Grab Rail & Nose fairing.Problem with the Nose fairing was postage cost me about $150 from UK but couldn't get that Nose fairing outside of Europe & when you want it you want it 🤣& postage us a penalty we pay down under & sometimes postage is outrageous.I reckon I'm the only one NZ 🇳🇿 with that Ermax Nose fairing & maybe Australia too being prepared to spend that much on it but it was worth it.Pity Slippery Sam not Full power bike & pity Trident 🔱 didn't come out in both even if full power version in limited numbers.Do de-restrict the download is for that bike only & can swap between LAMS & Full power but has to be sold with that bike & in NZ 🇳🇿 you can re-register bike as Full power bike to keep legal but be full power forever after.

This looks brilliant. And it's a great bike. My favourite in the class, I think. Just above the XSR700. I like the underslung exhausts. I don't know if I've told you, but my ''car'' is a Can-Am F3-S. 1330cc triple. Amazing engine. Nick

Wicked, that's the best type of 'car' :D! I'd say the same, although the Hornet and GSX-8S are pretty nifty too, but I feel like they are a category up.

@MotoJournoKris 2 ай бұрын
@@cascarification They're pretty good competition for each other honestly, I think the Triumph wins on finish quality/style and obviously the triple is fairly unique. Hornet might have an edge in outright performance, especially on the peaky end, and I prefer the standard exhaust on the Hornet.

Damnit I thought they were finally gonna offer non lams. I mean it’s good there’s a choice of lams bikes… but yeah to me it’s nuts to buy a brand new $15+ LAMS bike, but to each their own. Ah well should have known from the press photos all being taken at the local multi story car park it wasn’t worth getting too excited over lol
@MotoJournoKris
@MotoJournoKris 3 ай бұрын
Yea it could only be the cost of getting another bike approved meaning this is LAMS. Would make way more sense to be full power, unless it's prohibitively expensive to go through approval.

They bring in both the full power and lams for the Daytona, I just can't warp my head around why didn't they bring in the full power trident.
@MotoJournoKris
@MotoJournoKris 3 ай бұрын
@@user-fu8mt2pd6e I'd guess it's just a cost thing honestly, I guess the Daytona makes a bit more sense getting the full power version of the two. It's just a shame the Australian government hasn't allowed the EU version of the restriction system to be used here too, where bikes can be fairly easily swapped between full and LAMS/A2 power.
@ruahinesrider
@ruahinesrider 3 ай бұрын
UK A2 License has less power than our LAMS they're restricted to 47hp 6hp less than our LAMS which is alot but they're allowed to ride bikes upto 900cc but restricted to 47hp till obtained Full License which is what we should have too instead of 660cc but use our kilowatt per ton system so Trident is 53hp & Tiger 🐅 660 55hp & Kawasaki Vulcan 650 61hp & 235kg etc.

@@ruahinesrider Yep, we're kinda lucky, if manufacturers really want to impress they can tune the Aussie bikes to offer quite a bit more power!

Is there a clutch ? What does shift assets mean?
@MotoJournoKris
@MotoJournoKris 27 күн бұрын
Still a clutch, it's just a different name for a quickshifter, which allows clutchless shifting.

There seems to be some third party accessory options, I'm not sure if mounting overlaps with the little dash screen on this SE version.

Why lams, I'm not interested in huge engine bikes, I suppose lams is ok with speed limits, but I would like a full powered bike and not something with the slightly less power than a 70s 4 stroke 4 500 . ( Not including Kawasaki 500 triples)
@MotoJournoKris
@MotoJournoKris 2 ай бұрын
Seems like they had to go one or the other and LAMS usually wins out as it's the bigger market. It's just a shame we don't have the EU system where bikes can be swapped between the two quite easily.

That exhaust is ridiculous and needs to be a birdhouse somewhere

EU emissions laws seem to be making those underbelly exhausts fatter and uglier! I think keeping sound to a minimum is also to blame.

@@MotoJournoKris i am a rider of a suzuki bandit 650 and i totally agree with EU. Noise has to be stopped. Live for the ride, not the noise. We already have too much noise in our cities.

@@eLu2198 There's a not very fine line between understandable sound limits and preventing antisocial or obnoxious sound pollution, and proceeding down the road of nanny state restrictions.

@@nerychristian Yea there's a fine balancing point between nice and too loud, especially for longer trips. My favourite on the Daytona 675 was actually the stock exhaust with the EXUP valve disconnected so it was open at low rpm. Little more low end growl, but no change where the valve would normally open.

Triumph Australia reckon they weren't given an option for the full power version from the factory, interestingly enough, with Aussie bikes basically a special spec for our ADRs, that's only shared with NZ. It came up in discussion about the new Daytona.
