I vote for island music , another musical form that can instantly transform mood. My collection is limited because I don't know enough to avoid the lounge act stuff.

I agree those titles were a highlight along with Roy Haynes Quartet. So many great impulse titles.

That's evident, one of the only LP's he doesn't have a copy of and talks about for 6 seconds is the Sonny Rollins East Broadway Rundown which is a bit more "out there". I'd have loved more adventurous Impulse stuff too. Most of these here are great, but safe, and have been reissued so many times. One can expect every previous AP45 to be reissued as AS at some point actually.

You may look towards the Verve By Request series, but we have nothing to do with their choices of titles, mastering or where it's pressed.

@@acousticsoundsks Yes, I do check out a lot of their stuff, but it seems to be more obscure or side releases perhaps. I'd be hoping for something like Ascension from Coltrane, a 2 LP set of both issues of it as part of this series would be amazing!

@@TheWibachinski Thanks for your suggestion. We have done and will be doing a lot of Coltrane records - and we're doing most of the Coltrane on Atlantic in our 75 for 75 series. We have to take all of this into consideration. Honestly, we're not confident in how Ascension would sell as well as the others we've released. Again thank you for your suggestion.

Brazilian music in general from the 60s-70s would be incredible to have given the audiophile treatment. Jorge Ben, Tim Maia, Tom Jobim, João Gilberto, Os Mutantes, Caetano Veloso. For sure Elis Regina would be huge because the originals are hard to find and honestly do not even sound that great. They tend to be noisy pressings, but the recordings themselves are incredible. Especially if their dynamic range was given the AP treatment. Elis & Tom in particular would be an excellent choice to start with. Fingers crossed. 🤞

@@matthewjames2565 100%. There is so much just on Phillips alone (Gal Costa, Gilberto Gil, etc etc). But Elis Regina is a no-brainer and I presume Universal owns the catalog (though I’m not totally sure about that).

I think you mean Blues In Time. Blues In Orbit was Duke Ellington on Columbia, which we do have in stock - it sounds killer. Highly Recommended! 😁 We will listen to Blues In Time again.

You are correct. Analogue Productions has reissued the same title in 2018. The same Ryan K. Smith mastering/parts will be used. We decided that we were not going to repress it as we had ran out of jackets and Universal has a much bigger distribution. We think this record is great and should be available again. If you have the AP version, you will not find an improvement on this version, and you should be good. We see some comments from people that already have maybe the Classic Records reissue or the AP 45 reissue and ask us why we're doing the same records again - sometimes these records are no longer available and are going for high prices and there's new people coming to this hobby all the time. We can tell this by the amount that are being pressed and sold. Many of these titles that sound great, and are great musically should be available.

Who ever said the original tapes were damaged? I just listened to the TP for the first time a couple of days ago, and I'm very happy. I think people will really love this great album. I also just finished listening to the Kenny Burrell - Guitar Forms - again, another incredible sounding record.

Bernie Grundman mastered this for Classic Records around 1996 off the original analog master tape and it sounds terrific. We are using these parts. Sorry for the mistake.

@@ronjetten6535 Ah! Then I must have them! Apparently I don’t have enough stuff cluttering up my house. Actually what they should do is re-issue the 45s with proper gatefold jackets instead of those terrible two in one pockets.

We cut these at 33, as some people prefer 33. These will also have gatefold jackets.

Some people like 33. Some people like 45. Like me and many of our customers, we like both.

We will do more Ella in the future.

You obviously haven't seen the Prestige collection. Take some time to educate yourself, because Acoustic Sounds has one of the most diverse and best catalogs around.

Of course, any record that's coming out on this Acoustic Sounds Verve/Impulse Series is highly recommended because I'm the one picking these titles to begin with. So if you see it in this series, I can highly recommend it.
