The Zero SR was the first R-type variant of our groundbreaking Zero S, and the 2024 SR continues the heritage of charting new territory. Exclusive to Europe for 2024, this year's SR is the middleweight in the Zero naked street category and it’s the first motorcycle ever to be able to truly change with its rider. Available stock as an A2 licensed machine, the SR comes with an impressive 140 N-m of torque and 52 kW of power.
The SR is also upgradable via a dealer-installed firmware update that turns it into an even more capable full ‘A’ licensed machine, provided you meet the updated licensing requirements. The full A SR delivers even more exhilarating rides and produces 166 N-m of torque and 64 kW of power.
Regardless of which rendition of the SR you ride, it has entirely improved capabilities over its previous version thanks to a new battery, a whole new style, and a new motor. All of this plus the award-winning Cypher III+ operating system means that the SR occupies a truly remarkable tier in the Zero naked street product line.

I own a Zero bike and I love it, but this kind of stuff makes me not want to support the company. In particular putting *safety* features like stabilization technology behind a paywall seems especially egregious and kind of makes me want to puke.

I wanna convince people to run electric bikes and sell them but I don’t know how to explain the strategy of “growing with your bike” in a positive light

Hi there! We understand the negative connotation with software upgrades, but want to make it clear that our aim is to make the same premium product available to a larger demographic of riders. Namely those who are more budget conscious, that way if a rider wants more range or more premium capabilities when money allows, they're able to upgrade when the time is right for them. Same goes for new riders who don't necessarily need or want to start out with a fist full of 113hp and 140 lb-ft of torque - as confidence in their riding ability grows, they have the option to increase power available at the throttle. At the same time, we offer at least one pinnacle model in each street & dual sport category that's fully equipped with every available Cypher feature included from the moment you purchase the bike, for those who are interested in the full capability that Zero motorcycles offer. End goal is to have an option for everyone! ☺

⁠@@zeromotorcycles I have a zero , The problem is, is, you’re paying for something that supposed to have the ultimate technology, but in all reality, it comes with nothing. All these extra upgrades have to be purchased for more money when you were already putting out an awful lot for it. When in all reality if you take a step back and think about it $ for $ Aprilia T’s 660 or my Ducati 698 hypermotard 2024 has more technology in that bike then my zero and it was cheaper! Same with the Aprilia . I am a reviewer, and I want to believe in EV’s BUT you guys for being in the game first , you’re going to have to change and or adapt with current Motorcycle pricing and current competition, and most of all current technology. Because I just got back from India and I tell you what that’s ultraviolet motorcycle is crazy nice ! It obliterates, my zero. I’m rooting for you because I’m a fellow American. And the ultraviolet is at a Cheaper $

In my country Colombia they are very expensive, they are not profitable nor can I amortize them in years

Is this pay to use the stuff that is already on the bike and therefore alreafy paid for still a thing? I am looking at a ex demo or pre reg here in uk at around £8k but do not even know what the top speed is or how much it might cost to unlock the power for a full licence which i have. Any help appreciated.

Are the upgrades transferable to a new owner if I sell it? If not, I’m only renting the upgrades and that is super lame.

The hardware is capable of the performance, having it locked behind a paywall is pretty lame IMO. You buy the bike, but do you really own it at all if you're not able to use all of the hardware you paid for? It's like Mercedes Benz selling cars with heated seats, that only work if you sign up for a "subscription" to be able to use them...

Hi @kohlmjj , of course! If a Zero model is sold second hand to a new owner, the active upgrades stay with the bike (and VIN) and transfer to the new owner. These aren't subscription based upgrades, simply a one-time purchase that stays with the bike for its lifetime.

Ive put 50k on my SRS. Its awesome. Really like it. I hope they succeed as a company. This disabling of abilities until payment is made is incongruent with human psychology. I dont care what the reasoning is behind it. its going to cause resentment . The only part of this that makes any sense is if you pay extra to deeper cycle the power pack, because that increases their warranty costs. For that one thing, require people to pay extra for their battery warranty, then unlock it. The rest is just making people mad. Stop it.

Nearly $40,000 AUD for what is equivalent to a $10k ICE bike. I love the idea of electric bikes, but these prices are just completely out of touch with reality. Maybe in 10 years.

That boost crap sucks 🍆 with the price we pay, it should come with it !!!!! BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE UPGRADES YOU CAN BUY FROM THE STORE OR THROUGH THE APPLICATION!!!😢😂 and they Wonder why sales are down when you can buy better bikes, if you’re going to spend that kind of money smh

Hi @lostinspace699. Electric range may not be ideal for every rider, but there are plenty of Zero owners who are tackling long mileage days and around-the-world trips on their Zeros! Check out Marc Travels ( www.youtube.com/@MarcTravels ) and E.Round the World ( www.youtube.com/@eroundworld ) for a few examples.

Yeah, but they won't be doing it on an SR with a 4 HR charge time. Sort out this Cypher 'upgrade' lunacy, there are people like me who want you to succeed and are waiting to buy, but not like this. Don't sell me an ice cream then tell me I have to pay again if I want to take the wrapper off and taste it. Whoever had this idea, move them on to the competition, enable all features the bikes are already capable of and stop the spiteful ransom ware - that's how you will find success!
