The Model Y Juniper is going to be a big upgrade from the existing Tesla Model Y. it's one of the reasons why Tesla has discounted the price of the existing Model Y so much because so many people are waiting for the new Juniper version.

Following a Reuters saying that Tesla will begin production of the Model Y "Juniper" in October of this year, the company's internal communication has revealed that the refreshed SUV would not be launched in North America in 2024 after all.

Well, despite that, there are some hints in China that Tesla is beginning to make initial preparations for Juniper manufacturing. Giga Shanghai is well-known as Tesla's most productive facility, yet we're witnessing significant decreases to Model Y production. That vehicle's output declined by 18% in March and 33% in April compared to the previous year.
This might be related to Tesla's slowdowns in the Chinese market, but it could also indicate start-of-line upgrades to accommodate the refreshed model. We saw Tesla take similar slowdowns in the lead-up to the Model 3, so this could be evidence that changes are on the way.
