OK so I have a interesting navigation story. Years ago I was doing a job at a facility that was rated as a military secret site. Officially it just wasn't there, and a huge area around it was deleted from things like Google maps and other services. When I drove there I had to set the GPS to the address of the entry point as nothing else was listed, and even then it wanted me to drive over a huge wheat field. Well imagine my surprise when I was to leave and on the parking in this secret facility told the GPS to take me home. Suddenly I got instructions to drive through the test firing field following temporary roads they used when accessing different areas they used when test shooting weapons. It turned out that these roads were in the GPS navigators map data, but no dresses or names for anything including a rather large lake were mentioned. I still drove the "correct" way out of there passing the guard station. I still wouldn't have minded having a drone I could send mapping out that alternative road that the GPS thought would be nice...

Since 2008, the Chinese economy has developed rapidly! In 2010, I bought my first house in the city for $40000. In 2011, my family bought our first car for $20000. In 2014, my family bought their second car for $20000. In 2017, my family bought a second home for $80000. In 2020, my family bought their third car for $20000. Their cars including the U9 are designed by Wolfgang Egger, who previously served as a head designer for Alfa Romeo, Audi and Lamborghini They produced the most EVs in the world (6M), and are expanding fast. They beat Tesla in number of pure EVs sold (not hybrid) in Q4 2023, and if you include hybrids they are far ahead of Tesla. Tesla actually buys their batteries for the model Y because their batteries are so good and they always come up with new innovations from being a 23 year old battery manufacturer. They have pricing advantage because of their high vertical integrated supply chain so what they do now is that they sell better EVs than their competitors and put their prices slightly lower. It's only a matter of time until the mainstream west open their eyes, a lot are skeptical because it's chinese but BYD has already proven itself. Yangwang is their EV luxury subsidiary and one of their main goal is to gain brand recognition.

Yes a little air will flow over it as well pushing down of the spoiler but force wise that's not the main contributer. Because of the air getting lifted a low pressure area below the wing adding downforce in combination with the diffuser. I think hybrid is the way to go, the type of hybrid that is not connected mechanically to the wheels. Yet hybrids with somewhat bigger batteries, like maybe 40 kw/h and a very small generator maybe around 25 kw for midsized cars, which is the average of what they need to drive. That way even on longer trips, most of the energy will come from the batteries and the genset simply be a range extender. Thus in 95 % of the use cases, the car won't even have to turn on the genset and use only marginal amounts off FF across its lifespan. That will help reduce CO2 emissions much more than pure EV's because that way, hybrid ev's will become accessible to everyone and finally provide true alternative to pure ICE's, making it possible to have all cars run as pure EV's, 95 % of the time. Now if we on top of that create standardized plugin battery packs, that can be upgraded as new battery tech emerges, the transition will become seamless and effortless for all. Why is that you may ask? Well we use rare earth metals and mineral for the current battery technology, those are a finite resource and it is not possible to produce enough batteries to turn all cars into EV's, especially not if we also want growth for underdeveloped nations, which of course we do want. Second, small ICE gensets in an EV use far less petrol pr. passenger km or pr. kg/ km because the car at its core is an EV, thus the regen whenever breaking is transferred back into the battery pack instead of simply wasted like in a pure ICE. Moreover, the electrical grid isn't carbon neutral at this point and in many cases the electricity is produced by fossil fuel so that it actually is less energy efficient to produce the energy outside a hybrid EV vehicle, because those fossil power plants lack the ability to regenerate power like an EV can (although we can use the thermal energy output for meaningful things, like heating and even steam production for steam turbines, yet few of the existing ones have that feature). Again reducing overall CO2 emissions dramatically. So there it is, the solution, not for an imaginary future, but one for right here and now. Bravo BYD for forward thinking, if that was their reasoning too. In conclusions, hybrid charged EV's are far more affordable, reduce strain of our environment and resources and can be future proof with standardized plugin battery packs, making their lifespan at least as long as current ICE's. The latter too is one of the main problems with pure EV's, they really don't last that long, due to their limited battery life. Oh and come to think of it, by doing this supercharging, which dramatically reduces battery life, can now be done much less frequently or even avoided altogether, helping to stretch those finite resources used to make batteries even further

Unless there are some major changes in the way western economies handle long term planning they will never catch up with China. To be competitive with this they would have to build up the entire supply chain for making cars in-house and that will take years if not decades and will not be profitable on the short term. Slapping a short term profit model on everything just doesn't work unless you have a monopoly or cartel going and even then it is just a matter of time for someone to leapfrog you. We saw the same thing happening with AMD and Intel. Intel to this day hasn't really caught up because it sat on its ass making profit as it was on the game in town.

The Americans can bash all they want but the Chinese knows how to design, engineer and build impressive vehicles, and these relatively new manufacturers achieved far more than even long established American car companies (GM, Ford, Chrysler). American EV startups have been struggling long to get their first models to market (Fisker, Lordstown, Canoo, Faraday, etc.) only to fail miserably, while Tesla has many issues of their own and their long delayed new model, the Cybertruck has been a joke in the automotive industry with quality issues akin to Russian cars from the 80s and 90s (but suckers seem to flock to their hype despite it). If and when these Chinese car manufacturers enter here in America they would quickly be a huge threat and will change the car industry drastically in North America.

The issue is charging options/availability and range (battery/software) not the cars my friend. 1 moving part in the engine. Tesla uses it's own network of Tesla chargers and can use DC chargers. Hence it is so succesful in the US but still mostly as a second car. Main car will be ICE. The only thing that breaks quickly on EV's are the brakes. But thats because of re-gen and not using them. Correct. Tho you've stirred up the hysterical fanboys now. Good luck to you sir.

@@JWL-UK NO CGI requires, plenty of vertical videos of EVs paddling through flooded areas just to escape. All BYD did was exploit an inherent feature of Modern EVs. NO CGI required, kind of LAZY idea.

@@Neojhun let's say you're right. How many videos have you watched of the vehicles charging and running properly afterward? 1 week, 1 month later? I just don't think it's a selling point or something worth bragging about as there's not enough evidence on how long any current road EV can survive that. By the way, the Cybertruck is just plain hideous and a bad joke.

With nearly ALL their car makers has megafactories that rival Tesla. Imagine when a wa... needs arises, their leader can just snap a finger and they have a few.... thousands production lines that make drones, missiles, tanks, etc, overnight. Remember they built a fully equipped hospital in like a week during covid. I wonder why people still trying to piss them off.

They need to step down. They lied to us, posioned us, tricked and brainwashed us for over 6 decades. It's time for them to pack up and leave the field. But they are people without honor, without spines, without mentionable genitalia. So they will continue to exploit you and everyone you know. You don't need to show compassion towards those people. The moment you turn your head, they will grab everything you have - money, health, brainpower - everything.

So when they named the company build your dreams they actually meant it?
@JWL-UK19 күн бұрын
If your dreams end up in disappointment then yes! BYD are letting lots of customers outside of China down due to their Chinese way of dealing with issues. They just pretend problems don't exist and if they do, it's your fault.

they founded the business in the YaDi village which is a small small village in Shenzhen, they decided to call it YaDi Electronics, so YD in the beginning. then they realized that people sometimes rank brands alphabetically and YD is not that ranking friendly, the solution is simple, add a B in the front. No idea why they didn't add a A. The whole Build Your Dream thing is just the result of marketing many many years after the name BYD was adopted.
