Thank you very much! Please do much more! It's like you say: there is a lot for beginners but very little for everybody else. Also I like the style of your tutorial: you don't waste anyone's time and just explain in a calm voice 🙏

With Tip 8 just be aware that if you've set a default MIDI track to load up with a device eg. an EQ8, you'll have to get rid of any/all devices on that track before you'll be able to route another track's MIDI to it. I have less hair now.

EDMProd Enjoyed it a lot! I knew many not all of these tips. For years, I was caught in the wilderness of Ableton's huge feature set. Then one day it all "clicked in." This video could help your intermediate to advanced users level out that very steep learning curve. (As my certified Live trainer says, Ableton themselves are partly to blame for selling their product as simple. It is not!) Like learning (conversational) Russian, it will all one day click in for most of your users. I have not yet mastered Russian but can honestly say, Live for me was much harder!

that was a good one although the only one i did not know was the Edit Info Text! Can’t believe this was hiding under my nose for so long! Once i did an “advanced ableton workshop” in a conference in UK and i surprised everyone by giving a whole workshop just on the MIDI devices, there is a lot of power in there which is overlooked by most producers. One if my favourite tricks is to have a “Loopback MIDI BUS” and then having a midi track from ableton routed back into ableton to behave as a MIDI controller. It’s a very powerful or at least a lot of fun to do, to have ableton assigned as MIDI controller for itself. There is a trick for instance where you can assign a note interval as knob controller, so for instance you press C1-C2 on the MIDI keyboard when assigning a MIDI controller to a knob - instead of the usual knob to knob assignment. This will work so every note in your keyboard between C1 and C2 will move the knob in equal amounts. If you put those two tricks together you can then start using Arpeggiator to arpeggiate knob positions. It’s overcomplicating but definitely a lot of fun showing it off to other people! 🤣

No it is applied to only the highs, as it is inside the chain. Notice how the Hi band is selected in the rack.

💚Is there any way to transpose a whole scene while conforming to a scale? Like those old keyboards with the auto accompaniment or a QY-10? Also, when you do conform something to a scale, is there anything that can weed out undesirable harmonies that happen even when it is in a perfect scale(say C) like F & B making a diminished chord or E&F or B&C playing together right next to each other?

Love love love these. The more I learn about Ableton the more I love it, curious. Why do you use audio samples for your drums instead of using Drum Racks?
@EDMProd
@EDMProd 4 жыл бұрын
Personally, it's a workflow thing. I like being able to drag and drop directly into the arrangement rather than having to load samples into a Drum Rack, open the MIDI editor, and program them in. It's also helpful to edit the samples with the fades too. :)
@arielheartheat727
@arielheartheat727 4 жыл бұрын
@@EDMProd Got it, I have done both, but since I recently moved to Ableton, the drum rack has been so inspiring for beats... Used to drop samples like that in Logic..
@airfixx_8952
@airfixx_8952 Жыл бұрын
@@arielheartheat727 Go with whatever works for you.... Drum racks are gold if you want to play/program drum performances as kits rather than compose by eye. Note: You can drag instruments and other racks into each drum cell if you see fit.

re: Resonator... I find it far more useful on percussive sounds or other sounds with quick transients...... Also if you use a free max4live device called bcResonCtrl you can link the root note to a midi clip on a separate track.... VERY cool!

Does the Lfo work with 3rd party plugins too?
@EDMProd
@EDMProd 3 жыл бұрын
Yep - just select it from the expanded plugin view (little arrow on the plugin in Ableton). If the control isn't appearing, press 'Configure' and tweak the knob in your plugin. Then you should be able to map it in Ableton.

I don't understand the purpose of tip 8 at 9:09. You already have a midi clip to edit notes in so why are you creating another midi clip on the channel below? What's the purpose?
@airfixx_8952
@airfixx_8952 Жыл бұрын
Because certain midi FX change the midi notes you're playing before they are output to the instrument..... eg arp, chord, pitch, random etc.
