I knew there were a lot of different types of cells but I could not predict there'd be over 400 types.

Lectures 1-20 are not available. These selected lecture videos where specifically recorded because they represent the topics that are unique to 7.013: Developmental Biology, Neurobiology, Stem Cells, and Cancer. For additional lecture videos on Introductory Biology that complement these, please see 7.01SC Fundamentals of Biology, 7.012 Introductory Biology, and 7.014 Introductory Biology.

***** Thanks! I'm learning all of the sciences before I take them so I don't have to worry about failing a class after paying real money for it.

This right here is the reason Mit hasn't become a laughing stock like the ivy league has. Education instead of pomposity is emphasized.

Mangold died from a gas heater explosion in her home after moving to Berlin after earning her PhD (her dissertation has a lot of the organizer data). She died before her results were published, thus being ineligible for the Nobel Prize.

This is introductory Biology. It is the foundation of Biology. It is unlikely to change as research and development rely on the principles of basic biology. If we would to consider a class say, on stem cells, this field is relatively new and still hot research; MIT might be likely to take down an old set of videos and update it with new video lectures as the knowledge of stem cells change over time.

Most top schools discourage the use of technology for its own sake. I had a professor once say to us "If you want pointless conspicuous consumerism, go to the mall instead." There is a lack of dignity in over-technifying everything. And besides, your brain works differently when you type than it does when you write. The physical act of writing makes you slow down more. Though I'm not a huge fan of the air quality in a classical classroom...
