I noticed Anya's name being misspelled as well. I chalked it up to Anya being the one to make the sign.

Let me correct a few errors in this video. 1. The picture shown at 01:55 and 07:57 is NOT the author (Tatsuya Endo). It's his editor Shihei Lin. When you google search the author's name, you'll get a lot of Lin's pictures, and it's because pictures of Endo himself is not around the internet. He rarely shows himself in public. (By the way, Lin and Endo have had close relationship working on many mangas together, and some of ideas used in Spy x Family came from Lin.) 2. 'Pantsu' in Japanese means just 'lower underwear'. It can be used for both male and female underwear, so it doesn't mean just 'panties'. The word is a loan word from English but its meaning comes from British English, but today it is used to mean both 'underwear' (like in British English) and 'trousers' (like in American English). It depends on the context where the word is used. 3. Also, 'yarou' in 'kuso yarou' is more like 'guy' or 'fellow' but in a more derogative sense than in English. (I think it is kind of dangerous to use google translator and explain language things when you are not familiar with that language. I see a lot of youtubers doing it and giving misinformation). 4. About the spelling of Anya's name, the spelling used in English-translated manga has nothing to do with the author's intention. It's just translator's mistake or correction. Because in the original Japanese manga, Anya's name is just spelled in Japanese (アーニャ in Katakana). But in the original manga, on the name plate on Anya's room it is spelled 'ANIA', and whenever she writes her name on test paper she writes 'ANIA' like in the anime. English speaking people might think 'Anya' is the correct spelling, but in Eastern Europe (like Poland) 'Ania' is a normal spelling, so I don't know if it is intentional or it's just to show that Anya is a kid and prone to misspelling. 5. Likewise, the spelling of 'Loid' could be intentional, because the word 'loid' could mean 'to open (a lock) using a celluloid strip'. Just like the last name of his pseudonym 'Forger', it might be a pun. (Some people are saying in comments like "It's because Japanese doesn't have an alphabet that corresponds to 'y'" or "The Japanese don't know how to spell 'Lloyd' in English", but that's not true. The author is not that ignorant.) 6. About the pillows, I think the following comment by someone (which I borrowed from another video) best explains it: "The pillows with 'Yes' printed onto them actually have two sides: a 'Yes,' and a 'No,' side. It's used as a way to tell your partner whether or not you're 'in the mood.' Whichever side is showing on your pillow indicates whether or not you're open for sexy times." Originally it came from Japanese popular show where newlyweds talked about their marriage lives and the pillows were presented to them at the end of the show. Finally, this is a minor thing, but, you don't pronounce 'x' when you say 'Spy x Family'.)

Something I have noticed and it might be just my theory but it makes it spicy in a way is that every time Damian looks at Anya (whom he obviously likes), she looks sparkly and beautiful from his POV. This might be obvious, but here's the thing. This has also been something the creator of Attack on titan did when we see Mikasa from Eren's POV. And Spy x Family is produced by Studio Wit, just like the first 3 seasons of Attack on titan. So... the assumptions can be many on that~

Fun fact: Spy x Family isn’t supposed to play in the 1960s. It takes place in a fictional version of east germany, where a lot of technology from the 60s (and even older) was still used until the reunification in the 90s. The reason was that old tech was very reliable and new tech was hard to get and expensive. The blend of old and new stuff that seems so anachronistic in the show is actually very accurate for a depiction of east germany.

I thought it was Lloyd all the time tho. The katakana is Roido, it can be anything that sounds Loid or Roid. Has the author confirm which one is the official one? Kusoyarou literally means sh*tguy. There's no literal translation for the expression, it can be anything like jerk or something similar. There's also kusogaki, meaning sh*tbrat, usually used for kids or younger people.

Loid isn’t spelt wrong on the letter. Loid is actually a English variant of the name “Lloid” which is actually a Welsh name which comes from “Llwyd” which means Grey 😁 Overtime it’s just been twisted and Shortened because of the translation into the English language 😮

The capital of Ostania where they are set it's named "BerlinT" with a T at the end, and so we get an understanding about the tension between Wisteria and Ostania, (as if Germany east and west). we gets this was set in a time of a cold war time scenario. the other hint is the secret police is the SSS Secret State Security, a clear reference to the Stasi. and /or worst the SS gestapo of the War2 times. Franky (the creep) is not a subordinate to Loyd, he is his informant and the one who knows all the underground connections. They are friends and Franky just decides to work with him every time he ask because he wants to, not because he is obligated.

Something I noticed in episode 5 is that the seaplane they used to fly to the castle is a Cessna 208 Caravan Turboprop. But that plane wasn't made until the 1980s. The one thing you missed was the VCR , they didn't exist in the 60's. I couldn't tape Johnny Quest so I could watch it after I did my homework so I had to sneak into basement and watch on the old Zenith TV. That old Zenith had a remote that changed the channel by using some sort of tuning fork. The button would strike a metal rod that would make a tone causing the channel to change, that was state of the art 1960's TV.

Part 2 is airing in October. After part 2 it will continue with Volume 7 (What I think) I recommend you to buy it, because I think it will take 1-3 years for season 2 to be animated.
