My great grandfather served in WWII. The man landed in Normandy on D-Day, on the deadliest beach of them all. He lived and served for the remainder of the war, came home, and lived to be 98 years old. I remember the 21 gun salute being performed at his funeral. I wish I had gotten to know him better.

I have the utmost respect for the man who had the bugle part in this service, he gave it everything he had in showing his respect for a fallen veteran and he was proud to be able to do what he did. I certainly understand that there are not enough "live" buglers for every service. There are a couple of groups that attempt to provide a "live" bugler when one is requested, one is Bugles Across America. This past Monday at the Houston National Cemetery there were veterans funeral services every 15 minutes almost all day long. I only know of two that had a live bugler, the rest were done by service men with the ceremonial bugle. I thank the veteran for his service and the Honor Guard for their service and the Honors they rendered to their comrade.

@@mellowrose9470 It is a recording, you can see the button pushed when he is ordered to sound Taps. Still he sounded the Honors the best way he knew how. Not enough actual buglers to cover all services so we respect the use of the Ceremonial Bugle when that's the only option.

My grandpa died in August of 2007 he was a veteran of Vietnam he served from 1967-1969 he was pronounced dead eight times over there (they just couldn't find him) one day in 2007 a month before he died he came to visit and went to busch gardens in Williamsburg VA with us and rode the big bad wolf roller coaster with me and it pinched his nerve and the doctors found out he had cancer, but it was too late he was already dying from lung cancer from the agent orange in vietnam. He was first cav in vietnam rank SP4 (specialist) Was a sergeant but they demoted him because he was too hard on the lower ranks

I currently have 2 shells from the 3 volleys (21 gun salute is only for people who were in the government among other very important things) from my Great Grandpa’s funeral. He died decades before I was born due to cancer from the Chemicals from Vietnam. He won a Purple Heart after a Vietcong stabbed him even though he was a Medic so that VC is a WC (War Criminal). He was former Navy but transferred to Marines so the Marines gave him the final farewell. Just like most of the family, he was cremated and the story would depend depending on which section of ash you’re talking about. I know the biggest section is buried so I can guess that is where the funeral happened. My grandma (his daughter) has a small urn. And if I’m not wrong, some of his ashes were shot out of a submarine, but I could be wrong. Nice to see the old folks do a very long military tradition here, I can’t tell if they were former honor guards themselves or not and wether they are demonstrating or it’s a funeral for one of their friends but they did a good job for their age.

@DeltaHouseStudios 5 жыл бұрын
It’s a ceremonial bugle. It has a speaker insert inside the horn. There are over 1500 military funerals a day across the country so the DOD approved use of them in absence of a live bugler. This Legion guy did not have any idea how to hold it though and unfortunately looks silly doing it that way. Ceremonial bugles come with instructions that explain drill and ceremony movements with a bugle.

That’s 3 rifle volleys. A 21 gun salute is done with cannons. They’re not the same thing.
@m24qanov20
@m24qanov20 5 жыл бұрын
Alexander Dennis yes they are by military regulation you a 21 gun salute does not have to be 7 weopans fired it can be no more 8 no less then 6 but has to be 3 volleys I’m in a funeral honor detail I know the regulation and a 21 gun salute can be with rifles does not have to be with cannons and reg also states that only active duty or veterans can be on a funeral team
@DeltaHouseStudios
@DeltaHouseStudios 5 жыл бұрын
qanov productions You are most definitely misinformed then because all gun salutes in the US, whether 21 to 5 gun salutes, are done with military “guns” which means cannons. You cannot perform a US 21 gun salute with rifles. Rifles are used to fire 3 volleys. Gun salutes and rifle volleys are not the same and have different historical origins.
@m24qanov20
@m24qanov20 5 жыл бұрын
Alexander Dennis ok yea you ur right about that my fault 3 volley and 21 gun salute have different meanings but everything else I said came straight out the regulation
@DeltaHouseStudios
@DeltaHouseStudios 5 жыл бұрын
qanov productions not sure what regulations you have, but in the US Army it’s 8 to 5 rifles in a rifle detail IAW TC 3-21.5 and that’s only applicable to rifle volleys. Gun salutes, 21 or less can have a number of different cannons making up a battery and firing at different intervals.
