Daily facts or ideas✅ Day 142/366(part - English) Mauryan Art & Architecture: Mauryan art and architecture flourished between 4th and 2nd century. The dynasty lasted from 322 BCE to 185 BCE. Art and Architecture of Mauryan Empire was characterized by the construction of pillars, stupas, and viharas. The pillars were made of sandstone. It was one of the signature features of Mauryan Art and architecture. They featured inscriptions of Emperor Ashoka's edicts. The stupas were large dome-shaped structures used as Buddhist shrines. The viharas were residential buildings for Buddhist monks. Mauryan art was predominantly represented through sculpture. The period is noted for the development of the art of stone carving.

Godavari River : 👉 It is India's second longest river after the Ganga and the third - largest in India , drains about 10 % of India's total geographical area . 👉 It is also called Dakshina Ganga which translates into South Ganges River . Course : 👉 The origin of the Godavari River is in Brahmagiri Mountain at Trimbakeshwar in Nashik district of Maharashtra . 👉 It runs for a length of about 1,465 kilometres . 👉 It finally empties itself into the Bay Of Bengal at Narasapuram in West Godavari district , Andhra Pradesh . 👉 The river mainstem travel through three states : Maharashtra , Telangana and Andhra Pradesh while its basin includes Madhya Pradesh , Karnataka parts of Chattisgarh and Odisha. 👉 It has a drainage basin of some 121,000 square miles. 👉 The basin is bounded by the Satmala hills , the Ajanta Range and the Mahadeo hills on the north , by the Eastern Ghats on the south and the east and by the Western Ghats on the west . 👉 The Godavari basin receives it's maximum rainfull during the southwest monsoon .
