I was there that night. The delay was due to Alex needing a guitar swap after breaking a string on the final strum of 2112 overture. I remember the guitar tech running on stage. If you listen you can hear the jack being plugged in, and you will also notice its a purple guitar before and a white one after.

I yanked this from wikipedia, and it said "citation needed", but this is the best explanation of the censorship I could find. During the "La Villa Strangiato" section of the closing medley, Lifeson approaches his microphone and yells for several seconds. His words are silenced and a message appears onscreen telling viewers that his offensive speech has been censored. Lifeson actually said, "Singing is easy" and proceeded to make a series of strange random noises. Although the band has never confirmed what (if anything) Lifeson said, they have admitted that the censorship was a joke.

Just to let you know, this was from Rush's "Hold Your Fire" tour, which ran from October 29th, 1987 to May 5th, 1988. The exact date is 23-24 April 1988, because there was a video release of this concert called "A Show of Hands," which this is from, but only on the video, since this isn't on the CD whatsoever.

On one of the spirit of radio live vids he overplays one part but stays in timing, geddy and Alex look back at him like wtf and he goes back to playing the right part right away but man other tht he's spot on, hits every note like on the album, and most drummers can't when playing live , always playing different shit and for me ruining the song (I'm a drummer) if ur gonna change it up live u better do it better than how it is on the studio album, now with all that being said...Peart is the best

Ever since i found my dad's Rush albums in the basement about ten years back, 2112 has remained my favorite song from them. I'm not typically one for long songs, but god DAMN it's a great one. The transitions it makes between the different parts are so well done that it sends chills down my spine every time. I get that everyone has different musical preferences and i respect that, but even someone who doesn't like this song has to admit that their skill is astounding. Well, i'm off to binge on more Rush!

I first saw Rush at Madison Square Garden for the signals Tour around 30 years ago. The lights came down, the crowd about to riot in waiting for them to come out. They started with Spirit of Radio, then Tom Sawyer, and then to Red Barchetta before doing their latest. The place was thundering! I've been to dozens of concerts since then, many of them good, but I'd trade them all for the one I saw that night - long live Rush!!

Same! Idk why people don’t like the Wal. I love that sound it produces, and I think it fits perfectly this era of Rush with the more complicated and electronic playing while the jazz bass is good with the more jazz and aggressive playing later on like Test for Echo!

You could see how hard they were working to give the FAN'S their BEST! You could see the FUN they were having together, a TRUE Band! Neil Peart is by FAR the greatest drummer I've ever seen. And Alex & Geddy were within the best at their spots! Wish I could of seen them again, because I saw how technology made their stage show even better in 1990, compared to 1980 + 81.
